"The Voice" , new singing talent search show (1 Viewer)

Yikes, I take it back. I guess Xtina had a right to be pissed off.
Because "a source close to Christina" would only give an accurate and unbiased account of what happened.
Even if only the part about doing the song directed at her is true, that's still pretty low class.
Christina's been low class towards Tony for the past 3 rounds. Tonight was no exception. I almost think he took her virginity and she hasn't forgiven him for not calling her the next day.
Yeah, I've only been watching sporadically, so I'm not aware of the history.

I've only checked in from time to time, but with few exceptions, Christina is cool and slightly disdainful to anyone who isn't on her team. It comes off petty.

Does anybody else still frequently picture Christina's yummy top, from earlier in the seasson, in their mind? I mean, like, a lot...

And then there's how she has treated Tony.

Juliet was my favorite coming into the finals, but her song choices have left me wanting more. I get that she's classic rock, but I wanted to see an amazing performance outside her comfort zone. Her tribute to Ce-Lo was fine, but wasn't amazing.

Going back to the beginning of the season, Jermaine has been my least favorite of all the finalists. I think he has a great voice, but his performances and song choices have bored me. At the same time, it almost looks like he's trying too hard. His duet with Blake was the first time I saw some personality from him. That was nice to see.

I think I said Chris was creepy back in the battle rounds. He hasn't done much to change that for me. He has been a huge audience favorite, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if he won (the audience advanced him every round since the battle rounds).

Tony has been solid and he's upped his game the last two rounds. He did a great job on all 3 songs last night. Plus, him winning will be a big middle finger to Christina. He advances in Juliet's place for me.

Tony hasn't been one of my top couple/few on this show, but he's grown on my the last couple weeks... and I thought "99 Problems" and "Yesterday" were great. Enjoyed both of those a lot.
I agree, Tony wasn't my favorite going into last night, but I thought he nailed "99 Problems" and Yesterday".

The song was Adam's and Tony's way of getting a little jab in at Christina because she has been dogging Tony since the begining of the show.

Yeah, that is basically the way I took it as well. -Just guessing here, but I sort of think Christina was initially critical of Tony in an attempt to show she was impartial, despite their history together. As weeks progressed she continued to be a bit more critical of him than others, maybe because he doesn't have a big power voice or a strange/unique voice. Based on what I've seen from Christina, these are the two vocal types she seems to gravitate toward. Tony just has a nice voice with a really nice tone and is a very good performer... and this apparently leaves Christina unimpressed. -Tony and Adam got in a good jab last night though, and looks like they may get the last laugh and win this thing.

It seems more than that to me. She said he didn't belong on the show and was only skating by because of mickey mouse club fans. That is beyond being critical. To me, she's got some kind of axe to grind. As I said above, I suspect it goes back to their mickey mouse club days.

Oh, wow. I didn't realize she went quite that far with her comments. I know she had the "one-dimensional" quip and I know she mentioned the Mickey Mouse Club a time or two, and not as a compliment, but I must have missed when she said that the Club was the only reason he is skating by. That's definitely a low blow, and doesn't make too much sense, imo, as I don't think anyone really cares too much that.

Still think Juliet is the best. She was sick last night and when she is at her best is better then any of the others have shown.

With the right song choices, Juliet is fantastic. But the longer I listened to all of them, the more I realized that Juliet was pretty one dimensional. That can still lead to a great career, but I just think Tony was a more versatile performer.

I am rooting for Chris Mann. I didn't think he could win because of his genre, but his voice is fantastic (and I am not an opera fan).

And I think doing the duet with Christina may have helped sort of mainstream him. Further, if powee voting is anything like American Idol, the"cute boy" always has a good shot. ;)

I know there is a lot of Tony love in here, but I am still angry that Adam blocked Katrina to put through his BFF!

I think Chris Mann has the best voice of the bunch. It's very clean and has plenty of power. However, I find him dull and can't imagine an album of his that I would buy.I would have loved for him to have sung Ave Maria at my wedding. So he's got that going for him ...

Tony and Adam were smart with song choices. You pick something outside your genre and then turn it into a version that is true to your style. BTW, Tony's "Problems" and his duet with Adam are the top two "Voice" performances on iTunes right now.

I might be reading a little more into it than others, but Christina's opening salvo against Tony can be seen here: http://www.nbc.com/the-voice/video/live-performances-week-2/1395758/

Fast forward to the end of the 3rd segment, about 23 minutes in.
I think there was truth in what Christina said, and she lit a fire under him with her words, and it motivated him to improve and be more versatile. I don't recall her saying anything else to him again about the Mouskateers.

I think it comes down to Tony Lucca with his support from 11 million Justin Timberlake Twitter followers vs Jermaine with his support from 7 million Alicia Keys Twitter followers.

Bittersweet Symphony was a very, very bad facsimile.

Juliet's performance was forgettable. ...Still, I'm rooting for her to win.

Two hours for this results show is ridiculous.
I've been a casual fan up to this point, thinking this show is a talent contest, at its core; and I've enjoyed it. Tonight however, has been a pop-culture suck-fest. It reminds me of the movie The Gremlins. Somebody finally fed these bastards after midnight.

BTW, can someone tell Christina to wear pants? Can someone show her a picture of what her backside looks like before she heads up on stage wearing what looks like a glittery diaper that is seven sizes too small?

At some point The Voice is going to need to put out a winner who can actually do something with that record contract for it to have any credibility.

She apparently doesn't realize that she's not the same size she was when she was 19.

Sort of surprised that Tony didn't take it in the end. I actually liked Jermaine's voice better overall, but Tony finished strong and seemed to get some good buzz with Monday night. That said, maybe he did lose some important female voters with his "99 Problems" cover? I could see that rubbing a lot of moms and daughters the wrong way... steering their votes away from Tony and to the others.

Also, remember that Tony was Adam's favorite, not the audience's. He was the only one of the four who did not win the audience vote.

And he was still .5% ahead of Chris Mann. :excited:

Joe, front man, is completely over-rated. He's not getting far. Jessica, the fairy girl from NC was way better and should have made a team.

You know how I know I'm gay?

Adam  - mancrush. check.

Cee Lo  - love the shtick

Blake  - about as cool as a country singer can be

Christina :porked: - what a friggin' train wreck! :tfp:

A very good old friend of mine flies out to be on this show in a week-ish.

Apparently it's crazy hush hush (he wasn't really allowed to tell anyone at the risk of not getting on the show)... according to him his wife, parents, and myself are the only ones he's told.

Once everything's official I'll post up more details. I legitimately think this guy has a real shot...

I though the blind audition rounds were taped in one day and then shown over 5-6 shows.

He was invited to a semi-private audition in the city he lived in and apparently has already signed a lot of paperwork (took hours), he is already talking to wardrobe/stylists/image consultants etc. I guess some folks are already "pre-cleared" as they're expected to advance? Apparently he will have to turn over cell phones, passwords to social media, etc... and go into a communications black hole during filming. I dunno. Have never even watched this show before.

It very possible he was picked by a coach and is going back for the live rounds.

Yeah it's got to be. Very cool your friend is on. Don't say anything until the live shows start. The next few weeks are taped shows.

Huh... unpack please? What/Who are the coaches? They get to pick contestants before they even try out?

The "try out" is the whole premise of the show ... people go on and sing while the judges can only hear their voice (and the audience reaction). If they like what they hear and want the person on their team, they hit a button that will spin their chair around so they can actually see the person performing. There are 4 judges. If more than 1 judge hits their button, the contestant gets to pick which team to be on.
