"The Voice" , new singing talent search show (1 Viewer)

With 12 on each team, it will be interesting to see how they handle things after the blind auditions. Last season, they had 16 on each team after the blind auditions and ended up taking 5 to the live show (after battle round + 2 steals and knockout round). I wonder if they'll just take 6 from each team to the live shows (eliminating the steals and knockout round) or if they'll still have the steals and knockout rounds but only take 4 to the live shows instead of 5.

VERY rough mockup of the webpage I'm building for pat right now... hoping to have it live tomorrow.

Will have shirts (featuring the dred image) for sale via Sache Designs (owned by a mutual friend of Pat & I.. buy the album via bandcamp... links to follow on FB, etc. Just looking for a voice-branded landing page to handle traffic coming in from the show and funnel them in the right directions (merch, follow, etc).

This is good stuff. I was amazed that some of the contestants last year didn't have a better online presence while they were competing on the show. Great opportunity to make some dough and use the exposure for their gain, even if they don't win the whole thing.

1 hour till airtime and still wiating on the shirt company to get online ordering and Pat to give the thumbs up to go live. I think he's packing :lmao: A couple behind the scenes photos posted by a Casey Cattie... apparently she was/is another contestant.

Casey Cattie is the blonde w curly hair seated in front of Pat

I think that dude to the left was the one who got on a team last night?

What a kick in the pants that the country chic with the guitar had everyone turn for her but Blake, the king of country! I would not be flattered by that. :excited:

Maybe I'm just bad at judging musical talent, but I didn't find the two folk guys all that impressive. And the country girl was just kind of "meh" to me. Maybe living in Nashville does that to you, but just walking down Broadway you'll hear people at least as good as her at every bar along the way.

Adam is landing some serious talent.

Is that a spoiler?
Nope! At least not intentionally. I have NO idea what team pat is on other than if Blake turns around I'm 90% confident pat would pick him... and I'd be hard pressed to imagine blake NOT turning around. I guess I'll say that. I THINK his blind audition track is "Walkin in Memphis"... a track that is generally hated my beale street artists (and many memphians) for the fact that every last ####### that comes to town requests it over and over again. :lmao: That said he mentioned the arrangement was badass.... and he genuinely liked it. Will see

Seems to me the judges carry a wide variety of talent. Maybe it is because they like to throw dart in the wind, or possibly the producers push them to expand from the traditional singer. I still look at that mariachi singer Blake had last year and wonder how he got in the elite 8.

Love that song! You mentioned earlier that he did not even tell his wofe. SHe couldn't go to the taping of the blind audition?

I was mistaken... meant his band. Sorry. His wife was there with his daughters.

His wife was there with his daughters.
 Glad they got to share the moment.
At the risk of getting cheesy for a minute:Guy is the ultimate family man... Wife was previously married and 2 of his 3 daughters come from that marriage. About a decade ago I was recording a small solo acoustic coffee-shop style show of his (later self-released at shows) and he starts playing this one track "angels of my home" which he wrote right before the show, musing about what would happen to his young family if he died:

"I can always see the sky here, and my life makes perfect sense - 3 angels I was given, at another man's expense - you gave me reason to believe in me, now I want you to know - You gave me life, now I must go - singing to the angels of my home".

A lot of his original stuff addresses his ongoing struggles with whether music is the right path for him or not. Likely a common theme with many artists I imagine. However, a personal favorite is a "future retrospect" track called Rock & Roll Hand (download MP3 here). Again, just a very raw "guy and his guitar" track from a decade ago but I love the song (sadly he's never recorded it). IMO that song would go for top dollar in nashville but he refuses to sell it.

He's stepped away from the Mic several times in his life for varying lengths of time... It's always bummed me out when he has. The guy has IT and deserves the break more than anyone I've ever met.

I caught Ep 1 on hulu. I loved Blake's tweet at the end complaining about not getting to see Adam set himself on fire. "#bunchacrap" :lmao:

Good stuff. Really like that track you linked.

Really like the addition of Shakira and Usher. They should keep them IMO.
I don't. Usher is ok but I really liked CeeLo and his bright out of this world clothing and banter. Shakira is a waste of space. She doesn't mesh with Blake and Adam and her only funny is her spanish stuff. I never saw her as an expert in spotting real talent nor Usher for that matter. CeeLo and Christina are old schooled so to speak and come across as really knowing their stuff.

The main difference between this show and AI is the overall positive attitude from everyone on this show. Seacrest can only hold AI for so long.

I can't stand AI. After Simon left I started tuning out. This show to me is real. You are judging voices without silly antics or seeing what the person looks like.

Shakira is a waste of space? You're crazy.

Christina was a total train wreck. Bat #### Crazy. That's what made her worth watching. Shakira, not so much.

FYI another memphis talent, Grace Askew will be airing soon... she's definitely not one to overlook either.

Memphis Talent this year on The Voice and their Blind Audition Tracks:

• Sarah Simmons - "One of Us"

• Kris Thomas - "Saving all my Love For You"
• Grace Askew - ???
• Patrick Dodd - "Walking In Memphis"
• One more "Beale Street" guy who made it to the Blind Audition Stage but didn't get selected

Well represented. I wonder how Kris Thomas felt about all of the judgeswho didn't turn being shocked that he was a guy.

Sorta a gut check as a man no doubt.... that said that CAN'T be the first time something like that has been mentioned to him. He did seem somewhat shocked that such a big deal was made of it though.

I understand he has a high voice, but the level of shock seemed over the top to me. Not sure if Shakira was surprised, despite what she said about playing it cool.

Didn't care for Askew's link that you posted. WIll see what she she comes up wit hfor the audition.

Was this the one where they built up for 2 commercial breaks about the most shocking surprise yet?

Didn't the same thing happen on a previous season?

Wonder if that nerdy chic Michelle on Usher's team will go Nick's route who was on Ceelo's team and become a finalist?
