There Will Be Blood - NEW FILM (1 Viewer)

Looks interesting...I pretty much will see anything with Day-Lewis in it.

Best living director evers
Or an overrated doosh.:punchdrunklove:
Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Hard 8 all brilliant flicks.
Boogie Nights was his only remotely good flick. And I think even that was overrated.Saw Hard 8 before I ever heard of PTA and had heard it was good. Not horrendous but nothing special.Couldn't make it through Magnolia, although the soundtrack was top notch.
All three are great. Magnolia is one of my top three favorite movies of all time.Punchdrunk love was just terrible though. :(ETA if you haven't actually made it through Magnolia, you should try again, the ending is excellent

PT Anderson is a great filmmaker. Magnolia is an incredible flick as is Boogie Nights.

magnolia was crap...earnest heavy handed...how about that scene where it pushes into the calendar and it reads, "It really did happen."

hard 8 was great

boogie nights awesome

punch drunk love good too

but magnolia was so contrived it was like oliver stone film

90+% on Rotten Tomatoes...
Just posted a new thread on this before you bumped it.
Heading out shortly to see this one tonight. From what I can tell it's only playing at one theater in NYC.89% at RottenTomatoes.Daniel Day-Lewis' performance is rumored to be one of the best performances ever, period.Notably, Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood did the score for the film. It's supposedly pretty haunting. Will report in.

Tip: Look at the Cream of the Crop, not the general, Joe Schmo's Blog rankings...

Otis is sitting in the theater in midtown Manhattan, Macbook in my lap, waiting for the previews to start in 20 minutes.

I'll be taking shtick requests until then.

GB figuring out how to get internet access over my Blackberry. :moneybag:

Be loud, and ademant, that you've heard good things about this movie and really want to see it because you really enjoy Bob Saget's movies.

Wow.

I spent a good part of the movie like this: :)

It's long, pretty weird, has creepy sound track that borders on annoying in several instances. DDL is outstanding. Talk about pouring your heart into it. It gets slow at points but there is lots of tension throughout.

Ultimately I did not walk away as gratified as I did from No Country, but it was great nonetheless and definitely worth the price of admission to a theater. The audience all applauded at the end so they seemed to like it.

Just got back from it - AMAZING! I'd have a hard time choosing between this and No Country for Old Men as the best movie.

This movie was the nards...as expected. It just felt real. The last 10 minutes was some of the best film I have ever seen. I was as equally excited to see this as I was No Country For Old Men. There Will Be Blood was superior.

I'd say When the Devil Knows You're Dead was better than No Country for Old Men. The collaborative of acting was better than both as far as making you feel what the actors were going through.
