Thigpen's matchup getting easier

Tyler Thigpen, QB KC

News: Bills starting safety Donte Whitner and starting cornerback Jabari Greer won't play because of injuries when Buffalo travels to Kansas City to play the Chiefs on Sunday. Whitner, who missed the second half of Buffalo's Monday night loss to Cleveland, is nursing a right shoulder separated against the Jets on Nov. 2. Greer, meanwhile, hurt his right knee in the Browns game. Buffalo's secondary might be even further depleted if Whitner's replacement, Bryan Scott, can't play. Scott is questionable because of a left knee injury sustained against the Browns. Rookie Leodis McKelvin will likely start in place of Greer, while George Wilson would start at strong safety if Scott is unable to go. This all benefits the Chiefs passing game, which has been the crux of their offense for several weeks now thanks to the terrific play of QB Tyler Thigpen.

Analysis: There's no doubt that Thigpen should be starting in nearly all Fantasy leagues this week. He's been consistent for weeks and has some terrific targets to throw to. The Bills' secondary being weak only helps things. Consider Thigpen -- a former third-string passer -- to be a No. 1 option in Week 12.

:football:

Nice match up at home for KC...i was hesitant because the bills are stingy when it comes to passing td`s allowed....theres the bench Rivers...Tyler your up

Wish I had picked him up...stuck with Delhomme and Orton. I do have Bowe and Gonzo so very pleased with this news.

Thigpen is last years version of Warner this year....he comes off the bench to roar thru the FF playoffs and carry many a team to victory :goodposting:

I did not fare well in the draft when it comes to QB spot, I have been playing musical QB's. I grabed him yesterday for this weeks matchup. Is he worth keeping throughout?

You tell me?11/23/2008 Buffalo 1:00pm 11/30/2008 at Oakland 4:15pm 12/7/2008 at Denver 4:05pm 12/14/2008 San Diego 1:00pm 12/21/2008 Miami 1:00pm 12/28/2008 at Cincinnati 1:00pm :goodposting:

Where does this place Bradley's value this week?
WR3 with upside. He only caught three passes last week but they did go for 54 yards. More importantly, he was targeted eight times. So he's very involved in the passing game. I think this is a great matchup for the Chiefs. The Bills' D is overrrated in my opinion and has serious injuries as the OP pointed out. Bowe and Gonzalez are looking great as usual but I like Bradley a lot as well.

Is it crazy for me to think about starting him over Cutler this week?
I don't think so. I think Cutler will end up with good numbers. He's obviously been real good this year. But Thigpen has been producing consistently and his matchup is considerably better in my opinion. I think he has more upside this week than Cutler although Cutler is the safer choice. So I think it comes down to whether you want to play it safe or if you think you need to roll the dice a little and go for the upside.

Thigpen may be this years' Warner, BUT(I know this probably is a question for the Assistant Coach) is Thigpen good enough to start this week over Warner vs NYG?

The only QBs I'd consider starting over Warner any week right now are Brees and Peyton. That's it. Warner is playing too well to sit against any team in my opinion.

No question!You do remember Cutler vs. Oakland in Week 1, don't you?Comp: 16Att: 24Yds: 300TD's: 2Int: 0....and all without Marshall !

He might not have Marshall again this week. ;)

only issue i have with this thinking is the raiders had no idea who Royal was and put D.Hall on him and he got half of those 300 yards by himself...hall is history and the new guy(johnson?)is a big upgrade AND they know who Royal is now...not saying cutler will be unproductive, just saying i wouldnt go by the first meeting...me personaly ,i would play thigpen

Yes I think he's going to be a solid start. Benching McNabb.
;) I am starting him over McNabb this week as well. He may very well get the nod over McNabb in the playoff matchups as well for me, depending on how the two perform over the next few weeks.

The Thigpen love is out of control in here.

I think there's going to be alot of people saying :coffee: if they start Thiggy over more established talent.

That said, he's going over Favre for me.

I'm starting Romo over Warner, but this week is the exception.

Thinking about starting Pigpen this week myself, but also can't quite put aside Jeff Garcia. Man, that Detroit defense can make a quaterback look good.

Delhomme is my 3rd stringer......

I also have Romo in this week over Warner, but have been debating if it's the right call all week.Thigpen has been money the last several weeks, and Buffalo is hurting big time in it's secondary. Because of that I'd only start six QBs this week instead of Thigpen:P. ManningRodgersCutlerRomo WarnerBreesI especially like Gonzo to do well this week against the middle of the Bills secondary.

I'm thinking Larry Johnson may kill his fantasy value...........hope i am wrong
lol--I'm hoping you're right--need LJ to get back up to speed, myself!eta I can't believe he's still on the wire in some leagues; in mine he's #1 over the past four weeks.

I can't bring myself to consider starting him over Warner.

That being said: I'm becoming much more comfortable with him as my QB2, to the point that I may cut Delhomme for a better waiver-wire RB/WR. Or Leinart as a Warner handcuff for the playoffs.

People have been saying that for the past 4 weeks. As it happens... I have been sitting around kicking myself in the ### for not starting Thigpen.

I actually dropped Delhomme for Thigpen this morning.

I was just convinced to drop Garrard. Debating Cassel, but I have time on that one.Of course, if it goes wrong, I'm blaming everyone in this thread. Just a heads up.

Don't blame us, blame :ptts: :stalker:

Debating starting him over Brees....probably wont do it. I am basically playing for a bye and feel safe either way.

buffalo d hasnt given up a passing td in a month, not sure this is the dream matchup being touted.
Starting CB and SS are out. When Pennington was going up against a backup CB against Buffalo Ginn had a huge game. Buffalo only gives up about 200 yards per, but with all the options Thigpen has on top of facing second stringers I think he'll find pay dirt.

Glad you guys brought this up. I have Thigpen in my lineup currently with Warner on the bench. I can't believe it, but I think he may tear up Buffalo's injury depleted secondary. Giants D is so tough, Warner may struggle (relatively speaking that is).

Sure they know who E. Royal is now. They also know who B. Marshall is too.......but, who do they have that can cover both (or either) of them?..and just where are they going to get a D-Line to pressure Cutler?

I know everyone loves to be the guy that started the young up-and-comer, but this is getting out of hand.

Please elaborate how the guy thats never even thrown for 300 yards in an NFL game (Thigpen) is the 'upside' play over the guy that's thrown for 300+ 5 times this year AND is a top 5 QB in most, if not all leagues. And don't give me match-up.

Stop over-thinking this.

His QB rating is 97 over the past 4 weeks with a TD ratio of 8:1, and he's rushed for at least 20 yards in each game. Now he plays (at least on paper) as depleted defense at home. Granted LJ is making his way back, but this is why people are excited.

...Or I might argue....

He completed only 50% against what may be one of the 5 worst secondaries in the league last week and had a rating of 76.1

Again, not that the guy sucks or anything. Look at it this way: Would you kick yourself more if you bench a top 5 qb that goes 300 and 3 as opposed to having Thigpen's 300-3 on your bench?

Give me the guy with the longer track record.

and the KC defense gets scored on more than your best friends sister...which usually equates to a shootout...and yes it`s the match up...if KC were playing the Ravens we wouldnt be having this convo.

I think Thigpen has scored 20 or more FF points in the past 4 weeks... I am on the Tyler Thigpen Train headed for a FF Championship with that soft schedule he has left

Buffalo Bills vs opposing QB's: 2,139 yds and 7 td's. On the season. That's good for 10th best. And last week ( with a depleted secondary) against a young and albeit more inexperienced QB: 14-36-185-0-0.

Again, I'm not saying he's a bad play. But benching a player like Cutler for him? C'mon.

you have a point but they were in buffalo and the starters got hurt as the game was being played...and B.Q hasnt exactly lit up the scoreboard since he started

Greer and Whitner both barely played after the first quarter, and it's not like Quinn torched the Bills afterwards.McKelvin filled in admirably, and while he's not really that great, I don't think Thigpen is going to have the MONSTER 300-and-3 week you guys are thinking he's going to.That said, I'm starting him in a league where I have some awful QBs.

I'm in the same boat with Warner/Thigpen. I have to go with Warner, been rolling with him all year, why stop now?
