Things I hate Part 2: Shopkins (1 Viewer)

Wait.....So you spent your Saturday driving into/out of the city and spent 5+ hours at a toys r us just to stand in line and get a "special edition" 2 inch plastic piece of food that was made in China for like 1/10th of penny? Is this what you really have to go through to make kids happy these days? If so, my decision not to ever have kids is looking better and better.

When I was a kid, I loved GI Joe's. I had dozens of them. I know my parents spent way too much time/money taking me to buy them, putting decals on vehicles, putting together the giant ####### space center playset, etc. But at least GI Joe's did SOMETHING. And we sure as hell never stood in line for half a day to buy one of them.
No, you don't if you teach them to value things that aren't simply marketing junk.

my old man used to have a thing like this when we were kids all of them were different and had different shapes and patterns and some were rare and ultra super rare and all that and he would put them in a bag and give them to us for birthdays for special things like getting him a beer the fastest and stuff he call them rocks take that to the bank brohans

Daughter has a bunch. Got some for Christmas and birthday. But doesn't care they much. They are little and just get lost all over the house. They're dumb, but really no different than baseball cards, which are just stupid cardboard cards with pictures printed on them, some rare and some super ultra rare and you trade them. :offmylawn:

My daughter found out about Shopkins and has been watching unwrapping videos on Youtube. Watched one with her today and at the end I asked her some questions:

Me: What you do with Shopkins after you open them?

Her: You look at them

Me: Then what?

Her: You put them in a case until you get bored.

Me: Then what?

Her: Then you give them away.
So, they're like baseball cards.

none of this is worth it brohans my old man gave me rocks for getting him beer quickly and i turned out ok take that to the bank

Good news is my daughter is no longer interested in shopkins.  Bad news is she's now head over heels for Littlest Pet Shop.
