Things Millenials like: (1 Viewer)

I really don't think any boomer who has half a brain refer to themselves as the greatest generation.  We pretty much know that the generations before us are the ones that made this country great.  Not sure I can say that about millenials.
I know- I think Sheik was being sarcastic

I dunno. I tend to think of boomers hoarding all their stupid guns when I think of people needing safe spaces.
Nah. People have owned guns since before the country was founded.   Nothing has changed there.  Was never viewed as "hoarding all their stupid guns" until the current generation came along and started becoming outraged over everything.

I think this is just hgtv, but if I'm blissfully ignorant then so be it.

Oh, you mother ####er.
No.  It’s a thing.  They aren’t good at fixer-uppers either.  They often significantly overpay for small finished houses.

anxiety.

they ####### love anxiety.

what i do for a living, it is the MOST common reason 18-24yr olds tell me they're unable to work/maintain employment.

Huh. Just haven't seen any of that around here. They rent downtown. Then buy/rehab in a neighborhood near downtown that once was great then wasnt and now is on the way back. Then procreate and move out to the suburbs with us old millenials.

The questionable decisions I see them make are choice of suburb and type of house at a particular price point. That's the current market though.

20something's outraging is not a new thing. This safe space/echo chamber nonsense is though. And it's societal, not unique to any particular generation.

I agree- the outrage culture/echo chamber/safe space stuff is societal, not generational.

Yep, Millennials don’t like watching sports or television.  I blame them for the popularity of superhero movies.
Uh, have you entered the movie and TV threads?  It's not just millennials driving the popularity of the superhero movies.  If they are to blame for those, then we are probably to blame for all the remakes and reboots being popular.  I don't think they give two craps about Cobra Kai and the new Top Gun.

Saying “I don’t really like to label...”

Also, labels on food. And everything else.

Having a weird opinion, explaining their basis for it, being told they’re wrong about the basis, and still having the weird opinion.

e.g.: “of course we faked the moon landing. The flag is hanging down.  Why would it do that if it’s on the moon where there’s NO GRAVITY?!”

”There’s gravity on the moon.”

”Whatever, it’s still fake.”

No the same.  Star Wars had no big name actors.
What does that have to do with anything? There were superhero movies with big stars before Nolan's Batman: Superman, Spiderman, the 80s-90s Batman series. Star Wars came out in an era of small, gritty, character based, dark and tough movies like The French Connection, Serpico, Chinatown, Rocky, The Exorcist and Taxi Driver. Star Wars was big, fun, light. and more about the special effects and grandeur on display over the acting, characters, screenplay, etc. It became a worldwide phenomenon where people would see the movie over and over, the studios saw the $$$ to be made from endless licensing and the power of sequels. It's really the beginning of the comic book/sequel driven era. It developed slowly in the 80s and 90s but really kicked into gear when those kids who saw Empire 10x in the theater and owned every Star Wars toy, lunchbox and spinoff book became the adults running Hollywood.

Just saw on the news some high schools here are taking cell phones away. One kid whining how it's unfair. 🙄 We didn't have cell phones. If we were trying to communicate during class we passed notes. 🙄

Sure, but once people have something, they don't react well to it not working or being taken away. I am sure most adults would be pretty pissed off if their employer banned cell phones and planned on confiscating them.

We couldn't keep cell phones on our desks. On breaks we could do whatever. Productivity improved. And no surfing the web unless we were on break. We survived. I think that's one minus of technology is you get spoiled.

Most classes I’ve ever taught have mostly  the same policy. It’s the confiscation part that kids were usually real touchy about. Maybe you didn’t mean taking away as in physically taking them but just not letting them use their phones.

I made the associates that worked for me keep their cell phones in their lockers.  I kept walking in the cooler and they would be on them was losing productivity so it was keep them in your lockers or leave them in your car.

They want to talk to their friend who's like 10 classrooms down the hall. How you suppose to pass that note?  :D

What do you mean?

Really George Lucas is the biggest culprit. Star Wars is what set movies down the path they have arrived at today IMO.

Alec Guinness was an Academy Award winner and a big name actor in Star Wars.

Whatever, I still blame Chris Nolan.
Bradyfan, that ####### millenial.

Pretending to have the latest social disorder or mental illness. It seems everyone has a shrink these days. Most of these clowns are just lazy

Destroying movies or shows by getting offended and doxing people for what they said years ago.

Their phones.Half of these kids at my work think they can text the whole time they are working or socialize

putting their life story on Social media

Vaping and man buns

Dad Bods

Mumble jumbo rap or whatever ya call it

Pretending to care about social justice issues but doing so only to be part of the crowd

SUperHero Movies and overrating the Marvel franchise

Bradyfan, that ####### millenial.
I got a clown that does this in my produce department. He's absolutely rude and ignorant. Always thinks he's the one right. He cut his finger about a month ago and the Dr's note said he could only do light duty which we have non. They let him work as there are some stuff to prepare he can do. Meanwhile his brother is telling people that his brother who is hurt is out bowling and stuff with the hand. Was he hurt? Absolutely 9 stitches. However he wants to go to work and get paid but doesn't want to do ####. My ASD yelled at him before I went on vacation when he tried to get out of doing a task she told him to do.

Anxiety about anything in particular, or just general anxiety?
imagine being forced to communicate with people without being able to reshape, restructure and reword yourself 100x before pressing send?

these poor shmucks have NO idea how to communicate face to face. it's honestly beyond comprehension

Off-topic, but I'm not sure taking away phones is schools is a good idea for emergency reasons.  Teach them a little self control and punish them for using them during class.

Yeah parents can be pretty sensitive about this. I’ve seen some parents get quite hostile about their kids not having access to their phone. Also I think it’s better to teach kids how to use their phones productively and self control than to just out right ban them.

This isn't new. Case in point, PCU.

Edit, also applicable to I'm offended culture.
Honestly, most of this stuff isn't generational but age based. It's more about how people act when they are young, middle age and retirement age. When we are young, we don't know what it will like to be older and we are older, we forget what it was like to be young. The ones that are most accurate are the trends like avocado toast, gender reveal parties or how people use new technology like always talking on speakerphone.

this reminds me of a meme i saw on reddit last week.. i won't nail it but it's something like millenial headstones will read: “you miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky” - Michael Scott
Fixed it for you

Intentionally ugly Christmas sweaters (OMG so ironic and funny!!!)
I dunno about this.  I've been going to "Ugly Christmas Sweater" parties for probably 15-20 years so I don't think it was the Mil's that brought this on.  Maybe they're perpetuating it?

Were they around before 2000? 15-20 years ago is when old millenials were in college. I am surprised to hear they're still going. Cause they were quite lame then.

Gender reveal parties - Other than immediate family no one gives a #### if you're having a boy or girl even then doesn't everyone general just hope for a healthy happy baby?

Couples showers (as in parties) - Give me the old days of letting the women get together while the guys hit the casino or a bar.  Don't drag me to a party to open strollers and diaper bags.
