I came in on Bowie's 1980 Floor Show when it was on The Midnight Special.  I went out and bought Diamond Dogs the following week.

Yeah, the "scarcity" drafts are good that way.  Same with Rolling Stone Garbage List, since you could only choose from those songs and therefore discuss others that should have been on the list.

Favorite Van Halen song? I don't know, they used to be my favorite band in seventh grade.

That has all sorts of implications.

I grew up to be the guy getting taunted in "Unchained," let's put it that way. My seventh-grade self thought I was DLR in "Everybody Wants Some," my adult self turned out to have a different strip club persona.

And it is strip club and party music. Perhaps "In A Simple Rhyme" is my favorite.

I've never heard it that I recall, but I didn't hate it.  That might sound like faint praise, but I don't love a lot of songs on first listen.  I like the jazzy guitar on this and the drums that are, yes, hypnotic.  Reminds me of some stuff on the mediocre but not awful Wings records of the 70s.
