another great pick. I'm just not sure if Mike McDonald makes the band better or worse.Great pick. My hot take selection is "What a Fool Believes."

Better link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8t6XJ3Xlh8&t=1830sI'll just spill some spolight beans on songs only I would draft:
Connan Mockasin: Dolphin Love (live). Stumbled across this band one night while youtube searching for the guy I already drafted, Daniel Johnston. ... and here is Daniel Johnston performing a Beatles song with Conin Mockasin, While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
Hope my links work!
7.x - The Doobie Brothers - Long Train Runnin'
in my top 3 Maxwell songs, with Changed and Drowndeep. We need some sex in this draft(and a little more diversity). This selection veers a bit from my superstar theme, but strengthens my more important theme of diversity as it adds late 90s R&B to my list...and of course SEX. My playlist is purposefully all over the place and is meant to punish those that have one-dimensional musical taste.
Maxwell - Ascension
If you can't have the sex to this song, you might be doing something wrong.
Tell me whyWould have been my selection as well. My hot take selection would have been "Human Nature"
Holy crap! All this talk now days about saving the planet from greenhouse gas and seems like most of the damage was already done with the ferry loads of Aqua Net hairspray used in this movie.Round 7 - Carly SImon - Let the River Run
Can't stand most of her stuff, but this Oscar-winning tune really works for me.
@Juxtatarot is up.
Mine would be "China Grove". Love the guitar licks in that song.Great pick. My hot take selection is "What a Fool Believes."
I like her solo stuff too, but this combination backing band and her voice (same goes for Beatles, The Elton John Band, Allman, moer I can't think of right now) just click on most of the songs I like bestGrace Potter and the Nocturnals
Ain't no time
This lady can sing. Ballads country, R&R, soul. Really gifted

Agreed. And its use in High Fidelity was awesome.where are we, 7?
7- Beta Band- Dry the Rain
I'm sucker for a slow build- and this one always grabbed me. Even though I like the band... nothing comes close to this for them.
Off the Wall for me.Would have been my selection as well. My hot take selection would have been "Human Nature"
Neither. He makes it different.another great pick. I'm just not sure if Mike McDonald makes the band better or worse.![]()
The Ukiah/Captain and Me combo at the end isI forgot how solid front to back - the "Captain And Me" is

"Smooth Criminal". Great remake of it too.Would have been my selection as well. My hot take selection would have been "Human Nature"
I have not heard this in FOREVER. Great stuff.RD 7
BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD - ROCK AND ROLL WOMAN (1967)
I could have gone with the more well known hits - but I think most recognize it once they hear it. It's definitely my favorite of a bunch of their songs that I love.

7.18 - Pet Shop Boys - Rent (1987)
Rent has been described as "probably the most beautiful, cynical, danceable and bitter pop song ever made."

I could listen to this song every day and not get sick of it.

Yep. The commercial for her on Live at Daryl's House(another story that burns my britches) is what drew me to her. But her Performance won me over as a singerMy eyes are up here.
Love love this album. And this tune is the tippy top from it. Not so into the rest I've heard, so this seems a perfect pick.7.?? The War on Drugs - Under The Pressure

Time for me to switch gears and blow up my theme. I find myself listening to these guys a lot in recent years and this song in particular. I think it succinctly captures growing up in the South. And frankly, I can't believe this band isn't off the board yet so I have to correct that.
Drive by Truckers - Outfit

bump again, if anyone wants the playlist. I'm updating it as we go.FYI, I created an Apple Music Playlist for the draft, and I’ll keep updating it as we go. Maybe @Northern Voice can add it to the first post.

The Climate Pledge Arena is stunning.

Didn't know this until a couple of days ago, but he made a pledge that if Biden won Georgia, he’d put out a record of covers of songs by Georgia artists, which he just released.
Now someone asked if he’d do one for Texas if Beto wins governor there, and he said sure. Then Steve Albini offered him free studio and engineering for it, and he said sure. Then OH said he’d do all the cooking for it, and Steve vouched for him, so Isbell said sure.
No matter what your politics are, I ask you to root for Beto in a long-shot here so that we can go cook at Jason Isbell’s recording session. Kthx.
He made a Sufjan Stevens joke about it himself!I hope Isbell gets further through the states of the union than Sufjan Stevens did
At least half the songs on that album have a good case (including Fool's Gold, which Eephus refuses to acknowledge as being on the album.)
Sounds like a fascinating deal. You have my rooting interest sewn up. Go Beto!No matter what your politics are, I ask you to root for Beto in a long-shot here so that we can go cook at Jason Isbell’s recording session. Kthx.
