THIS IS THEIR BEST SONG! - Music Draft - Saturday Night's Alright for iFighting (4 Viewers)

Maik times out with three minutes left on the clock.  @Juxtatarot is OTC until Monday at 10:57 a.m. EST, unless he chooses earlier.  :)

Great pick. A great example of when Canadian Content laws worked. I was 14 when The Last Waltz was released. I won tickets to it on the local radio station. I had to answer a trivia question (the answer was the house they had in NY, Big Pink). I had a hard time finding someone to go with me. "The last what?" "What's it about?" "Who's in it?"

My best friend Saul went with me. I had to tell him who most of the performers were because he didn't know who Van Morrison was or what Clapton looked like. He shrugged at the end, I loved it.

Countdown to wikkid coming in and sayin' what an arrogant bunch of SOBs Robertson, Helm, etc. were.

I like this version:

I saw The Last Waltz in the old Majestic Theater in Madison. We sat in the first row of the balcony because you could smoke up there and perhaps non-coincidentally the sound was better.  Those were the days when they didn't clear the theater between shows so I watched it twice.

So the Friday bonus for tonight is

ROCK 'N ROLL MOVIES YOU SAW IN THE THEATER

I watched The Song Remains the Same in a park pavillion.  I was 13.  Me and two friends snuck in from the bordering woods and saved a combined 75 cents

Watched the Pink Floyd Pompeii movie in a theater filled with smokers, circa 1981.

Knows the game

My catch up pick.

Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros - Long Shadow

I've loved this song from the moment I first heard it. I love it even more after hearing how it came about. Written by Strummer and intended for Johnny Cash to record. It never happened but this version was recorded by Rick Rubin at the same time Cash and Strummer recorded Redemption Song together shortly before Joe’s passing. Johnny passed a year later.

You can pick a second one, too.

El Floppo still owes two.

Also now still owes two.

My favorite Strummer song is "Tony Adams"

In 1976 me and three cousins spent a couple of weeks in Oklahoma at my uncle's trailer house.  He was a crop duster, and all-around awesome guy.

Anyway, pretty sure we watched most of the Monkees' movie, Head, on a 19" color TV.  Hey, anything is a theater if you try hard enough. ..and Bruce Lee, and James Bond.

@El Floppo, you owe two now.
Ok.

I WAS AVOIDING TOUCHING THE DRAFT LIST. HAPPY?!

9- Tropical #### (with an F) Storm- You Let My Tyres Down

They have a good cover of Stayin Alive, and I love Planet of Straw Men...but this is my favorite tune of the last 5 years that doesn't involve Floppinho on vocals.

10- Buzzcocks- Why Can't I Touch It.

Everybody's Happy nowadays, what do I get, ever fallen in love with somebody, orgasm addict...all great. I'm a fan of a rhythm and hook that doesn't let go..in spades here.

Hopefully they haven't been taken.

OH approves of both these picks, and all the cursing.

I saw early NYC Punk movie The Blank Generation in a big lecture hall. There was no IMDB back then so the audience didn't know it was all silent footage. That didn't go over well and a lot of people walked out.

The producers have since added a soundtrack that doesn't sync with the film but I think the audience yelling insults at a silent movie is way punker.

Even more punker than John Lyndon on the Masked Singer?

Ok, second pick.  Going back to TX. Gotta make up for that ZZ snipe.

Freddie King - Going Down

The King of Texas blues.  This is him with the influence of Leon Russell in the early 70’s. Man, what a high energy and simply rockin’ tune.
