THIS IS THEIR BEST SONG! - Music Draft - Saturday Night's Alright for iFighting (5 Viewers)

1:24 U2 “Where the Streets Have No Name”

That would make my top 5.

For my money U2 is wildly overrated everything post Achtung Baby album, but I've always liked their 80s stuff the most.

My "hot take" U2 pick would be "So Cruel" from Achtung Baby.

Not in my Madonna top 10.   It's solid but she has so many legit bangers...here is my top 5.

1.  Open Your Heart (this is a slam dunk #1 for me)

2.  La Isla Bonita (there is a sick remake of this, I've had a perma-stiffy ever since seeing this Spanish girl do it...will try to find yuoutube link.)

3.  LIke a Prayer

4.  Into the Groove (I DJ'd the #### out of this song in my college years)

5.  Borderline

You know you're up right?

Prince - Let's Go Crazy

I saw him twice live and the energy in the room when this song is played is unparalleled in my concert viewing experience.

Was a true National Treasure and I miss his musical presence dearly.

If forced to make a hot take selection it would be "I wanna be your lover" since it didn't get as much radio play as anything on Purple Rain and post Purple Rain.

Nice. I would probably go with I Would Die 4 U off of Purple Rain. I'm not a Prince expert or aficionado, but I'd feel comfortable picking something (almost anything) off of Purple Rain and saying it's his "best."

This or “As”. “You Haven’t Done Nothin” and “Higher Ground” are in the mix, too.
Went to a Stevie concert with my wife a few years back and we were very fortunate to be upgraded to orchestra seats. We had nose bleed tickets but as we were heading towards the escalator, an usher offered us upgraded seats. Amazing, just a handful of rows from the stage.

Great experience but the most memorable moment was when Stevie first came out, my wife was so excited she started waving at him.

Updated baby pics plz.

For me, they're not the same thing (and I know I discussed this ad nauseum in my initial Beatles thread so won't bore you all with it again here, though no one read my posts there).  In any case, I can't even say "favorite" without feeling a need to listen to the artist's entire catalog.  :loco:
Maybe favorite/best to the best of your knowledge?

If people on on-line in this thread there could be 10 picks easy in one hour. On several days a week I take about a 2 hour walk and if my pick came up during that period I would miss it on a one hour clock.
You're a dreamer, aren't you?

In practice, this rarely happens or even comes close to happening.  (Remember, this isn't a football draft.  There's no prize.)

No, I am a realist and these thing that "rarely happen" always seem to defy the odds and come back to bite me and I really getting sick and tired of it, especially after being told how unlikely it is.

At some point, we'll bin the draft order and switch over to one pick per day but it's too early for that now.

Until then, enjoy the cat and kid pictures and marvel how this draft played out perfectly for Rush.

Just a little taste of the 'ol squizz

So why the rush now, what difference does it make if we go on a more leisurely pace instead of pushing people to do one pick an hour every day for like half the day? It is not like this is a football draft done right before the Labor Day Weekend and we have to rush it, as we might not finish in time before the season starts. There is no reason I can logically see to go at this breakneck pace.

This is about my hundredth one of these things, and that's never happened.  These are supposed to be relaxing, even with the overthinkers like K4.  We drift along like the tumbling tunbleweeds.

It is not relaxing if it is a one hour clock, especially as I may be away from my computer for an hour an half to two hours.

As someone pointed out, there are usually people hanging out who will take your pick for you.  You can do your wtire-up at leisure.

I reckon we need another Friday night alphabetical speed draft just for you.

I don't participate in fantasy league speed drafts and I won't do one here either. And there should never be a rushed draft on a subject matter of this type for anyone who takes their music seriously.

It won’t feel rushed. As you said stakes are very low so it’s not a big deal if a couple people draft ahead of you because you were a little late to get to the computer. If things stall out and go too slow, the draft will die out. It needs regular activity and people posting to generate conversation and keep people engaged. I can usually only get on once or twice before 3:00 myself.

I'd put "The Real Me" up against any of their material.

I've even got a soft spot for "Eminence Front". I remember Martha Quinn once joking about singing the lyrics as "M&Ms Front" and thought it was funny ... and yeah, I always sing it that way to myself now. I think the Mars Corporation are missing a great opportunity to market their candies with that particular song (assuming Messrs. Daltrey and Townshend are game).
5:15 for me. Great freaking song.

It hasn't ever felt rushed to me because we can see where we are in the draft order, so there's lots of notice before you go.  We often do the @ thing for the person who's up, plus one on deck and one in the bullpen.  Honestly, it's more anticipation than speed.

For me Quadrophenia is an extreme case of the album overshadowing the component songs. It's hard (no pun intended) to take the songs out of the context of the four album sides.

It's still a great freaking song but it's primarily a part of something freaking greater.

A lot of the bands I was considering will likely be available in later rounds so, instead, I’ll channel back to my 16 year old self for this selection.

I have a vivid memory of putting in my new cassette  of The Joshua Tree for the first time in my little tape player. I played that first song, then rewound and repeated over and over and over. Cranked the volume all the way and listened again over and over again. It was my new favorite song ever and it probably took an hour before I got to “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”.

In God's Country is probably my favorite.
Another hard to miss on tons of songs for them... I'm still partial to Bad, live or on wax.

You realize it's 60 minutes, not 60 seconds right?

If you don't want to listen to what everyone is saying and aren't comfortable with an hour clock, I'll count you out. This is supposed to be fun and right now you're making it not.

No Baba even mentioned. Smh. T'was just last draft a couple of us considered it perhaps the greatest rock song of all-time.

Love the Bad love. Would be surprisingly easy choice for me. And after some refresher listenin', studio and live, Levon and Sir Duke clear winners for me too. So this is a bit of an enlightening fool's errand.

Hitch a Ride is the best song Boston made, imo. Pretty sure Brad and Tom agreed in some interview out there. They certainly put more time into it than any other. I guess there's only one wrong answer on the debut album. Lord, what a debut.

Happy I chose an eclectic shtick. I can't be sniped without being humored. I've made tournament brackets for artists some of you likely have never heard. It's chill up in here. 20th century's yesterday. I have no need to go with the flow because I am the flow. /thcvape

There's a difference between taking the music seriously and taking the draft process seriously.
