Stoked to be the first to select a hip hop artist.  

Dr. Dre - Nothing But a G Thang

So, I love hip hop music more than most.  I listened to pretty much everything in the genre leading up to the Chronic's release. Unlike Ronstadt it was not played in our home. :)   Where it was played was every high school party, college party and post college party for the next 10 years.  I grew up on the West Coast, and on the West Coast it didn't matter where you were from or what neighborhood you grew up in, you listened to the Chronic in the early to mid 90s.  The Chronic for me is the album that shaped hip hop music into a form that almost everybody could enjoy.   There are plenty of other hip hop artists that will get selected in this draft, but I'm selecting "Nothing But A G Thang" from the Chronic because it symbolizes what I consider to be the greatest hip hop album of my generation and arguably of any generation.   There are several timeless songs on The Chronic, but to me "G Thang" is the most representative of what the Chronic did to forever change hip hop...slow beat, incorporation/sample of funk and generally positive dance vibe.  

Round 1:  Prince - Let's Go Crazy

Round 2:  Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down Again

Round 3:  Linda Ronstadt - You're No Good

Round 4:  Dr. Dre - Nothing But a G Thang

I still have all of the equipment, but haven't brewed any beer in a couple of years. My brewing partner moved away and it's not as much fun doing it alone. Anyway, we used to clone a Belgian Tripel and got it to where it was about 15% ABV while still tasting good (took a few batches to have it not taste like turpentine).

We never got to cooking lagers and pilsners (different operation), but I wish we had.

I can't do IPAs anymore. Brewers have gone crazy with hops and it's too much for me.

Is it just me, or on this song does this guy bear a slight vocal resemblance to the young Paul Simon?

A lot of their stuff seems influenced by Paul Simon - to me at least.

Best rap song of all-time from the best rap album of all time which also introduces to the world arguably the best rapper of all time, Snoop.  That track never ages.

I  unapologetically love this song.  Everything works for me; the piano, strings, even her mannered vocals.  She's gone on to make five more albums including one released last year (2015's Liberman is really quite good).  A Thousand Miles is probably her best song but it's certainly her most successful. It went top 5 in the US, has almost a half billion Spotify streams and has financed her bougie boho lifestyle over the past two decades.

Gonna go through some of the picks I don't recognize tonight.

This song has been burned in my brain for years but I had no idea until now what it was called or who it was by. To me it's quintessential "HBO promo background music". Which is not a bad thing.

Oh, mabye Cranks'll be happy to know that I zonked out at seven-thirty sharp last night until half an hour ago. The arm is doing better, and the sleep was much needed.

Looks like Trip might have had himself a long night, too drunk (or having too much fun) to make a late night (Crue) pick. Do you have an idea of what you want next? I listened to a bunch of music last night and finally have a pool of what I would like to get the next couple rounds.

You know what? I have no idea. I sort of messed up because I was making a flow mix tape and then immediately picked Daft Punk and ruined it. I had the second song all lined up and sort of...well...forgot it or ditched it, really. So now I'm trying to figure out a new theme that fits, but alas, I don't think any does.

Well it can't be any more jarring than CIA's last two picks of The Beach Boys and a song called "Homicide". 

 
4.10 Billie Eilish Happier Than Ever

I'd like to avoid going down the 80s/90s wells too often in the draft, so how about a song only a few months old?  Terrific somber beginning with an exploding ending. Billie and her brother make for an excellent team.  Hopefully this song will be bested in the years to come, but for now it's their best.
