I noticed it, but chose to ignore it because my comfort zone is more important to me.I never noticed the extra "a" until you just pointed it out. I was going "trot."
The one that I can't figure out is Maik Jeaunz. In my head, I think "make jeans". That can't be right, can it?

I mean, the Tolkien nerd in me knows how HE wanted it pronounced (there are web sites devoted to this ####). But, that doesn't mean my brain processes it that way. And Peter Jackson's movies ####ed it up even worse. It's an existential crisis over here, y'all.
It's got me so confused, I'm almost at "You're OK" by now

In the old days, I played fantasy football. My original FBG username had similarities to some team names I used. Back then, I also used to make fantasy football hot takes in something called "The Shark Pool". However, I became concerned that opponents reading the board might use my hot takes to their advantage against me. I was also posting in the Free for All more often and wanted to be completely anonymous. (The latter is kind of funny now since anyone who would spend time in the 10K thread could find my real name rather easily.)
Anyway, I wanted a new username. I opened the dictionary to a random page (yes, I had a paper dictionary in the days of yore) and came across the prefix "juxta" or maybe just a word with that as a prefix. Flipped to another page and found "tarot" as in the cards. Voila!
I sometimes wonder if the two words might have some profound meaning when put together but I haven't yet figured that out.

Cool. That's what I began to think, and how I pronounce your name in my head. Mine is derived from a (NO SPOTLIGHTING) particular band's record label based off of Scott Asheton's nickname given to him by Iggy Pop. It is not confusing to pronounce.
In fact, it seems like I picked the biggest, bluntest name you could imagine. That's the point of the nickname, I guess. Perfect for a drummer.

Round 4.11 - Suite: Judy Blue Eyes - Crosby, Stills and Nash
Not really a CSN fan, but this is transcendently lovely. All the angst of love/loss/hope/despair in one package.
It's hard to believe that their perfomance at Woodstock was just their second one together. Had to be scary as hell.

I found out in the "Laurel Canyon" documentary that Stephen Stills wrote this song about Judy Collins, his former girlfriend. I only knew Collins from "Send In The Clowns", so I never associated her in that "scene".

Both great songs. It is so tough to just pick 1 or 2 as their best and then stick with them when you are reminded of others in their catalogue.

I know it's not popular in these drafts to pick the most popular song as the best, but "Southern Cross" is one of my favorite songs. I didn't grow up when it was popular which is probably why I'm not as sick of it as those that did.

I wouldn’t say totally off. I’m not even sure how to measure it but anecdotally I’ve heard SJBE way more times on the radio and parties than Southern Cross.Oh wow, I was totally off there.

You know what? It's probably because for most of my life I've thought of Iggy as more as a cultural icon and legend outside of music and I have elevated his mythos to place him out of the realm of spotlighting. That must have been my subconscious thought process, anyway.

I told myself I was going to go in a different direction with some of my picks, and this is someone I've never selected before.
4.14 Frightened Rabbit - Poke
I have a lot of trouble making my way through modern indie music, as I haven't been willing to dedicate the time to weeding through the "single-groove" bands that sound somewhat alike to me to find those that pull me in and shake me around. So while I'd heard of Frightened Rabbit over the years, I never gave them a listen until Northern Voice chose "The Modern Leper" in a recent draft.
I. Was. Blown. Away.
I vowed that I'd listen to more of their songs, but then all the usual stuff got in the way and it didn't happen. Since I've promised to myself that I will not take a song in this draft unless I've listened to their whole original catalog, I spent the last couple of days listening to all of their records, making lists (first cut had 23 songs on it) and then winnowing down to a handful or two.
I figured I'd be safe not to take it in the last round since NV wouldn't pick before me, but then last night I realized...####...Dreaded Marco had two picks before mine. These are the two people I associate most with this band. Thank you, Marco, for not sniping!
Is this their best song? I don't know, since I need to listen a lot more to make that decision. "The Modern Leper" might very well be the best, but I wanted to go in a different direction, and this one has haunted me every time I've listened.
