Nice blast from the pastI loooved Neal Anderson.
As a rookie, he would do ANYTHING the team asked of him to get on the field. Return kicks, punts, hell.... he was even Walter Payton's fullback on occassion.
When his father killed his girlfriend (his father's girlfriend), I think that took all the wind out of Neal's sails.
Neal Anderson and Trace Armstrong are two of the most under-appreciated Bears since the Super Bowl team. They both tried stepping in the footsteps of Hall of Famers - and I think in they both did a very commendable job. When you look at the career sack leaders, Armstrong is much higher on that list than Bears fans remember - simply because Dave Wannstedt HAD TO move him, so he could get 'his guy' John Thierry on the field.
Wanny traded him for a 2nd round pick, which he used on Todd Sauerbrun - and he got rid of Chris Gardocki.
Hmmm.... Chris Gardocki and Trace Armstrong vs. John Thierry and Todd Sauerbrun
Then Wanny ran Armstrong out of Miami also..... he heh
I actually went to college with Lawrence Holmes and knew him pretty well. Haven't talked to him in about 8-9 years though. That being said, I am obviously biased, but I don't think he is that bad. Anyway, to Thomas Jones !Actually, I KNOW Holmes is a moron! As does anyone who listens to sports radio in Chicago often. That aside, I agree with the coach-speak skepticism, but I don't know why Lovie wouldn't even mention the limping factor unless he was surprised to not see him limping. To me, Holmes' tendency to create controversy and make the wrong call is greater than the likelihood that Lovie is outright lying about this, but to your point either might be the case.Ok natrone thinks Lawrence Holmes is a moron. That's beside the point. He saw Jones walk with a noticable limp. Is lovie actually going to tell us that Jones didn't look good and has a limp? Come on.
Espn radio reported today that initially the doctors/trainers told Jones 3-4 weeks, but he has already started running so that is great news. They don't think Jones is going to play this week, but next week is looking really good.
Well, on your rec I'll give him a slight window of opportunity to get back in my good graces. Just kidding - like Lawrence "Don't call me Larry" Holmes give's a darn what I think! To be fair, there are FEW sports radio guys that I think are tolerable in the Chicago area, but I listen to it all the time so there are a lot of opportunities to say something stupid while I'm listening! Anyway, I'm sure Larry is a cool guy outside of radio.I actually went to college with Lawrence Holmes and knew him pretty well. Haven't talked to him in about 8-9 years though. Tj didn't look like he had a limp to me. Anyways, i can only listen to two shows on chicago sports radio. boers and bernstein and mac/jurko/harry. Too bad they are on at the same time now. MJH has the superior show imho... They don't have to 'try hard' at being clever or funny. They just entertain....and for football acumen, Doug Buffone's Show or Mully's Show will give you the most insight. When Buffone has Tom Thayer on, it's the most informative.Tj didn't look like he had a limp to me. You NAILED it. Boers and Bernstein are gay. After enough listening (and I've listened a lot), their shtik gets REAL old. They just make fun of callers, play the role of "Marriotti of the airwaves" by playing the inquisitive and witty pessimist on EVERYTHING. But the wit is predictable and stale after a while and I'm surprised that they retain any listeners.MJH has the superior show imho... They don't have to 'try hard' at being clever or funny. Turns out it didn't matter for me but I switched from Bell to TJ when I heard he was starting.. Bell would have gotten me 19 and TJ got me 20.. Plus up by 64 he has Bulger and James I have Manning.. I feel confident.Where are all the Cedric Benson lovers out there?
An injured Thomas Jones once again carrying the offense....
Benson sucks.
Thats not sweating.. He should have no problem outscoring a part time RB..stupid league deadline is midnite Saturday.. so i couldn't sub TJ in the lineup sunday morning.
now, instead of having a comfortable lead, i'm stuck hoping that Bulger outscores Faulk by 5 tonite.
