Thomas Jones pulls hammy during physical (1 Viewer)

Is this a dreaded "turn and cough" related injury?
It has been confirmed the "physical" was actually sprints and other physical activity to see what kind of shape the guys were in. So it very well could be a legit injury. As a Bears fan it is good to know that Jones is probably not just making up an injury to prove his point, but at the same time this is probably worse news as hamstring injuries are tough to get over, and if they were planning on trading him (which I doubt) this would probably lower the return the Bears could receive.

Just heard Adam Shefter on Total Access say that Benson is running with the first team and that it is his job to lose. Crackpot statement or truth? Draft coming up Sat. with the real potential of looking at Jones as my 3rd back. Cant' pull the trigger if he's not the one. What do you football guys think? Is it Benson's job to lose now or is Shefter just positing ideas?
It was his job to lose as soon as they made him the #4 overall pick, just a matter of when. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Yes, Jones had a great year last year, but the Bears want Benson as their starter, rather than look stupid for drafting him so high.
They wouldn't look "stupid" if Jones simply continued to be better than Benson, because nobody had any reason to suspect that would be the case prior to the 2005 NFL draft, given the fact that Jones had greatly underachieved in his five years (to that point) in the league -- he himself a former #7 overall pick in 2000.The Bears want Benson as their starter mainly because they don't want a guy earning $35M ($18M guaranteed) to languish on the bench any longer. Money talks in the NFL.

Anyone who thinks this is a real injury, I have some oceanfront property in Nebraska to sell you.

This reminds me of when Rod Strickland was angry at the Wizards, he claimed hamstring problems for months until he got traded and then he was miraculously fine.

Jones was thinking of not reporting to camp, but the $14,000 a day fine made him think otherwise. So he reported, faked an injury that can't be disproven, and now he can sit out without getting fined.

Cmon people, put your thinking caps on.

IMO The Bears should be happy they finally have a back that can get a K every year. They haven't had one since Sweetness and somehow always downplay the importance of it. Anderson and Atrain were very good young players too. Trade Benson for some pieces that they think will assure a Supe win and move on. Instead, there's always the temptation that this RB will be the next great one

espn and chicago tribune report that denver has contacted the Bears about trading for TJ, offering Lelie in return.

We should all be GMs... this has been discussed here for months. The question is, what took so long? That trade makes too much sense for both teams, though I think Lelie is a dog. Denver might need to sweeten the pot a bit.

Awesome. We're trading away the best backfield in the NFL for the next David Terrell. I admit I am confilcted. We desperately need a legit deep threat, but Lelie's head problems just remind me too much of Terrell. I hope if this happens he comes in and wows.

Denver was rebuffed by the Bears
oh, so much for that.

That sound you hear is Benson moving up the draft charts. Even if Jones, doesn't get traded it looks more and more like the Benson show in Bear land for 06.
