Throwing in the towel on LJ (1 Viewer)

This isn't a "week 3 vent," this is the idea of giving up on LJ for the season.

Anyway jumping the gun? I don't think so. After 1 even 2 games, OK. But great Ds or not, this is beyond ridiculous and KC offense is beyond ugly. I can't afford to fire sale LJ now because I'd be lucky to get a backup PK for him, but the odds of him starting for me this year are about the same as the odds of winning the lotto. Run it up the middle again Edwards, you're averaging less than 2 YPC with that brilliant strat  Does anyone really think he'll be worth a start even as the Ds get easier?

lol @ me drafting LJ because I want "one of the top RBs"

Brandon Jackson (who has sat on my bench the first 3 weeks) has consistently matched or outscored him so far this year. How sad is that?

 :hot: Cheer up, you're a mess. Playing CHI & MIN will do that to a RB.

I wouldn't throw in the towel now, because you won't get much for him. Wait until he has a good game if you want to unload him.

But I did see this coming. Change in OL, loss of Green, and I always said LJ was good, but not great. He was a product of the system and the system has finally become Herm's system=not good.

I don't know but I think your thread got deleted because they assumed you weren't serious.

This was the Vikings defense. They allowed something like 60 yards rushing a game last year.

I definitely wouldn't throw in the towel yet on LJ. I wrote abou this in August - he's got one of the toughest schedules for all RBs in the first half. And one of the easiest for the 2nd half.

Please don't post this info here for the guppies to read  . probably could have traded him Reggie Bush right now for him.

:hot:

Agreed Joe, but perhaps even the easy rush defenses will be looking at KC as a break on their schedule...I wouldn't assume he will tear it up on anyone at this point...their OL is downright pathetic.

I think he will be OK when he is not playing the best darn rushing defenses in the NFL.

I mean, take Gore for instance, imagine if he followed this game with games vs. Chicago and Minny...we would be saying the same about him.

I am going to sit LJ until he has a decent matchup. I think stud run defenses do shut down stud RBs. I think things have changed in the NFL. I think it's OK to sit your RB vs. Chicago, Minny and Pitt.

you said it man.LJ is on the bench for at least the next 4 weeks for me (unless he has back to back good games or something). Right now I can afford to wait for the production I still expect later in the season, but another injury will F me.Also, I think Bowe continues to improve as well as the passing O as a whole, which should help LJ some. Also, the line should start to play better when they continue playing as a group and have better matchups...right? ;)

Are you in a 6 team league or something that allows you to have quality backups ?

That may be true, but if I drafted an RB with a top 5 pick I sure don't want to have to play match ups with him. A top 5 pick should be in your line up every week without hesitation and should be expected to carry your team.

Minnesota Run defense should make anyone hesitant in my opinion. We had Johnson as #11 this week. Larry Johnson hasn't forgotten how to run. And his OL hasn't been the good OL they used to have for a while now.I'm just saying I absolutely wouldn't be throwing in the towel on Larry Johnson. The opposite really. J

KC has a stagnant offense, Herm has to loosen up and throw the ball more, and throw it more on first down.

He played minimal snaps week 1. Then he has faced without a doubt the 2 toughest teams to run on in the NFL - Bears and Vikings. The Vikings run D is so good it's scary. After SD next week, they really have a great schedule. They get Jax and GB, the 2 toughest D's the rest of the way - at home. Some very juicy matchups.Everyone knew LJ was going to have a very slow 1st 4-5 weeks. His FPG after this will be stellar, with some monster games. Some owners might be 0-4 by then and out of the playoffs. Any LJ owner 2-2 or better after the first month will be in good shape.

No, 10 team. And at this point, starting Willis and ADP, or Jacobs when he's healthy, the next few weeks over LJ seems to make sense to me.I wouldn't sit him for nobody due to the possible blowup factor, but he still has some tough games coming up as well.

Even in 12 team league you could have drafted Peterson in the 4th and a guy like Lamont Jordan in the 7th or later.

:goodposting: I think you're right on track that for LJ and KC to be successful that KC has to throw the ball before they get down big in a game. It's all about offensive balance and this run-run-run trend has been nullified by everyone starting with Indy in the playoffs last year and continuing through the first three games. KC needs to dust off the passing game to give LJ a chance to keep the DEF off balance.

Herm sucks. Jump ship now before its too late.

I drafted LJ at 1.3 in my 12 team local, and regretted it immediately. It changed my whole draft, and I ended up taking Benson, AP, and KJ. I benched LJ for 3 weeks now, but will start him next week, and hope to trade him after one good week. Sure, the schedule hasn't helped him, but that KC offense is awful. Huard is terrible, the O line is bad, maybe Bowe turns out to be an option at WR, but this team is one to avoid, until and when Herm Edwards is shown the door.

I was not out of the first rd before I regretted taking LJ. When Addai went 2 seconds behind me I cringed.
