Believe me, I'm no stadium hugger and I agree that it needs to be torn down and we need to move on. However, it was sad to see based on the many memories of my youth.

I have a lot of great memories going to games at Tiger Stadium. The fact that it is getting torn down will not alter that in any way. GB good ol Tiger Stadium.
Grand old stadiums always make me sad when they're torn down. Fenway, Tiger Stadium, Wrigley- they don't make them like that anymore. Yeah, the new stadiums are "nicer", but they lack the worn intimacy of the older parks. They are/were pieces of Americana.
Wasn't that the stadium that had the press box practically right on top of home plate?
Also, wasn't home plate slightly mis-aligned, making it a little wider for pitchers to throw strikes?
When I think of the old stadium, I always think of Kirk Gibson jumping up and down after hitting his second homer in game 5 of the 84 series.
I suspect, though, a lot of people (at least older folk like my Dad) always think of Reggie's monstrous HR in the all-star game. He always says (and I know he's wrong, but it's a fun story), "That thing was still climbing when it hit that light tower!"

My best Tiger Stadium memory was as a 15 year old in 1976, seeing Mark "The Bird" Fidrych pitch. The atmosphere was electric and was unlike anything I have ever seen.
