Per Adam_Schefter via Twitter:

Florida QB Tim Tebow has decided not to attend the draft and watch it with family and friends at home in Jacksonville.

Bible study conflict? Or is he saving babies in Haiti?
I've yet to understand the desire to knock on someone with personal qualities of Tebow. Nonstop threads about guys with so many off the field issues and saying we wish these guys would just be better people. Yet here we actually have a guy that does the right things and people still find things to mock. Amazing. The league needs more Tebows, not less. Is there really something to make fun of about saving babies in Haiti?

Wise move. Why go to NYC to sit in the green room with guys we know will likely go 1-10? No diss there, he knows he won't be an early first day pick and perhaps not a first day pick at all. I'd much rather be at home with my family celebrating with them than surrounded by cameras and disingenuous and obnoxious people that make comments like "Bible study conflict? Or is he saving babies in Haiti?"

There just isn't much to hate about the kid, unless you're just pissed that he makes you look bad as a person when compared to him. :goodposting:

Sometimes I forget the serious business level here.

I'm glad he's not going also - it's not like he needs any more publicity. I'd guess he'd be there if they were doing the traditional 3 round draft in the first day.

It's probably his last day with his family with his family for a while - I'm guessing he'll move to wherever he's drafted right away and try to get signed the first week so that he can become ingrained in the team's activities.

highly unlikely he gets drafted Thursday night then, The Jags must of hinted to his agent that their not going to take him in the 1st round and roll the dice for the 2nd round

Or all the coaches just passed around a petition pledging not to draft him in the 1st round, which let him off the hook.3rd round is my guess.

No way does he sit in the green room for 2 rounds all by himself. If you thought Brady Quinn's wait was excruciating then Tebow's would have been a nightmare.

:bag: Moving on......Tebow is the type of guy that gets ripped on in all segments of society. Most guys can't come close to the standards of behavior, professionalism and integrity he shows and they knock him for it. Quite frankly, they are half the man, and they know it. Instead of respecting it, they sour on it to make themselves feel better.Tebow shouldn't be anywhere near the draft because all it was going to be was a dog and pony show for the NFL. They know him being there creates drama, and that it would turn into a train wreck that everyone would have to watch. Our society is ####ed up.

The league could probably use more good will ambassadors in the Tebow mold, but it would be nice bonus if they had a snowball's chance in hell of not sucking at professional football.

There has never been a more untrue statement than this.
:excited: Tebow might not make a NFL qb but he's showing people how to do it the right way.I wish him the best and the league DOES need more Tebows.
I'm pretty sure that crappy QB play and bible thumping won't help sell seats.
bump this next year with some attendance figures if jax takes him.

I'd vote for smart move. Save himself the trouble if he goes in the later rounds and avoid the circus. Seems like good sense.J

He was saying from the beginning that he always loved what Joe Thomas wound up doing on draft day- he went fishing with his dad. I suspect he's going to wind up doing something like that. Which I think is pretty cool, but then again, I never got the memo where we're supposed to hate people for being classy now.

Why not just invite 300people so that no-one feels left out and then once they're drafted they go and sit with the fans and put on facepaint etc and boo other draft picks?

what's he doing the following weekend?
My guess is he'll be spending it looking for a place to live, and setting up a bank account that will collect his nice fat paycheck.Stay classy, Tim.

Kiper said 80% chance he goes in first roundi just dont see it though
On Mike and Mike this morning Scheffter seems to think FOUR QB's go in the first round, and Claussen may be the last of them. He thinks they may go like this: Bradford, McCoy, Tebow, then Claussen possibly at #30 to Minnesota.I do not see it, but Scheffter seems like this is a strong possibility.

They already have a league of Tebows. That would be Arena Football.

:) Not that the NFL needs ratings help, but I'm glad Tebow didn't succumb to the leagues wishes.

:goodposting: anyone else in Tebow's shoes would have done the same thing..I guess Tebow's logic is just that he saw the Brady Quinn draft and the continual falling of his stock during that first round and decided to save himself the embarrassment...it's a good idea..he knows cameras will constantly be pinned on him...

Tebow Jersey sells will be top 5 in jax

I'm kinda disappointed. I wanted him sitting there, feet up on the table while being asked "Are you worried" and him answering "First round, last round, it doesn't matter. I'm still making more than you."
