Tim Tebow Hype Train (1 Viewer)

There's an answer to that too. I don't want any of my WR's to go where this clown is when they become FA's. We are talking bigtime WR's here - Calvin, AJ, Jennings, Marshall. Yes, they are all locked in and probably will resign with the current team but this guy is killing 2 WR spots and a TE spot. I don't want them to be my guys. The top WRs in the 2012 draft will be on the Broncos radar. He will damage the career of one of them like Vick did to Roddy White. This is all about FavreCo's FFL team. This guy has the potential to get in the way.
That reasoning makes no sense to me. First of all, the chances of any of those guys getting dealt is so remote that I have no idea why you would even be concerned about it - that's a red herring. Second, he didn't "kill 2 WR spots" - Demariyus Thomas was a decent start for me yesterday, and I bet Eddie Royal and Eric Decker will have their moments in the sun as well. Tebow's 167 yds passing wasn't the worst in the league yesterday, and he's had pro games that were better. And when was the last time that Denver had *any* TE worth owning? I'm not sure, but you can't blame that on Tebow. Third, if you really think Tebow is going to suck this hard on offense, that's a good thing for a fantasy player to know. Now you can make sure to get the WW defense that plays Denver every week, for example, or make sure to start your other players when they play Denver since the Broncos' offense will be shut down so quickly - just like you would do with any other bad team that pops up on the schedule. Fourth, if you're so worried about the Broncos' getting the top WR prospects next year, there's a simple solution to that problem - don't draft them (or trade them if your league has already drafted college prospects). I'm sure you can find another owner in your league that's not as down on Tebow as you are and get good value out of them. That's what fantasy players do when they think the stock of certain players are down - they adjust. The whole idea of rooting against someone because they "could get in the way" of your fantasy team is pretty ridiculous. Let's root for Curtis Painter and Matt Moore to fail and get cut from the NFL, since they're even worse than Tebow. Let's root for all the developing rookie QBs to fail too while we're at it, since we wouldn't want our players to be traded to those teams while they're still developing and going through growing pains. Maybe Tebow will improve or maybe he won't, and I'll trade and draft accordingly as time goes on. But I'll pass on the Haterade, thanks.
:lmao: I do root for hacks to get out of my FFL team's way. Took forever to get David Carr the hell out of Andre Johnson's way. Why wouldn't I? It's good for the game. Hacks like Carr can kill even the greatest of WRs.There are developing QB's like Ponder who you can see out of the gatee that he has the chance to be good. That guy made some throws this past week. Then there are the Tebow's and Carr's who just flat out can't play QB the way it is needed in order to be a SB contender.

It's obvious Broncos brass (Elway/Fox) do not want Tebow as their long term starter. That gameplan was designed for him to fail. It would be the same if you asked Kyle Orton to execute a gameplan designed to Tebow's skill set. If you want to win games with Tebow, you have to have about 10 designed runs a game for him and a lot of short passes/screens. It is not a typical NFL gameplan, but Tebow has showed he can make it effective in the NFL when given the chance to take over last year. These Denver coaches did not do this because they do not believe in that playing style and wanted him to fail so they could say "see, we gave him his chance".

If healthy, Denver has an outstanding young receiving corps in Demaryius Thomas, Decker, Royal, & Julius Thomas (who has tremendous natural ability & reminds me of a young Antonio Gates). And Tebow can throw the ball. Go take an unbiased look at every throw he's made in the previous 2 years, including preseason.

It also amazes me why people aren't speculating how Tebow will improve as a passer, a notorious hard worker. WIth those receivers (assuming health) & a decent RB in McGahee with a good receiving back in Moreno, Tebow has SICK FF upside, IMO.
This is one of the things that I don't get - Tebow's mechanics have been picked apart ad naseum BUT then I watch Phillip Rivers play and he has to have the worst mechanics in the NFL. The guy looks like he is throwing a shot put when he throws a pass. Yeah - there are plenty of QB's that have better mechanics right now but with the game on the line - there aren't that many I would rather have than Tebow. He just gets it done - ugly or not , he wins games.
Mechanics are more than the throwing motion. TT's footwork needs a lot of work. Once he began steppnig into throws yesterday, he started hitting his targets.

Or maybe it was just like Rocky - when Micky trained him to fight right handed so he could switch right at the end and WIN!!! They knew the Dolphins would be expecting that type of offense - so they made Tebow run a standard offense. Then in the 4th quarter, with Dolphins up big and the defense feeling confident, they pulled the rug right out from under 'em.

Elway to Tebow just before the 4th quarter, "I just want you to do one thing for me..."

TT: "What's that?"

Elway: "Win, Timmy. Win."

** music **

TIMMY! TIMMY! TIMMY!

Elway to Fox: SWITCH!!! NOW! NOW!!!!

BAM!!

Denver wins!!!

Clear as day.

Well, this train was fun while it lasted. He served a nice role as a bye week QB. I don't see any upside in holding. Aaron Rodgers can take it home for me from here. Thanks Timmy.

Jumping off the train now. :bye:

So what are the thoughts regarding Tebow still maintaining the starting job?

Has management already committed itself to him by benching Orton, or is there a switch back to Orton - or even going to the third option in Quinn - in the near future?

I'm hoping he can hold onto the starting gig long enough that my SD and NYJ defense can get a piece of him. The guy deserves 2nd and 3rd and 4th chances.

 Agree. Tim Tebow should be the starting QB for the Broncos for the rest of the season and indefinite future. He has Raiderfans' seal of approval.

The defense of Tebow before this week was perplexing to me. As a UT graduate, I got to see the guy 1st hand for 4 agonizing years. He was, bar none, the best college QB playing in the best possible system for him I have ever seen for more than 1 season.* The problem is, he never improved his mechanics from his freshmen year to the present. Of course he didn't have to succeed in college. I lay some of the blame on that at the feet of Meyer, but the bulk of it is on Tebow now. He made no effort to improve during the offseason. None. That speaks volumes about his vaunted "work ethic" if you ask me.

The rationalization (even by FBG) has been, basically: "You can't measure him by stats though. He's so much more than that. He's a winner."

Until the NFL abandons traditional "scoring" for a more subjective assessment of teams to determine winners, focusing primarily on things that don't show up on on the scoreboard or box score, numbers are a pretty accurate measure of a QB. It's the same stuff people said about Vince Young -- "but the teams wins with him". Sure the team wins, IN SPITE of him, not BECAUSE of him.

The Broncos are stuck with a horrible situation. They have to let the guy play a few more games now. After that, let Quinn finish the season, then start completely over during the offseason.

*I would defend the DW/Spurrier marriage for 1 season as the single greatest QB/system confluence in the history of college football. And DW bounced around in the NFL for far, far too long as well largely as a result of that 1 season, being a "winner" (whatever THAT means), and being a quality guy by any measure. DW did work his butt off. He wasn't blessed with the body or arm necessary to play in the NFL though.

He should apologize to everybody. I mean he made us believe he was special. When all the accolades were being heaped on him he took it all and ran with it. He should have been truthful and said; Look I just want to be honest and tell you I'm not good...no..no I mean it, I suck.

He peaked last week vs the Dolphins. Should have announced his retirement right after the game proclaiming himself the greateset with nothing else to prove. Now all he does is torture his followers.

Immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows twice you will disown me three times." And he broke down and wept.

Learn from Peter's mistakes, do not deny our Lord

Denver Post reports #Broncos will start Tim Tebow in Week 9 against #Raiders: "No change will be made." bit.ly/dQUxoG

According to beat writer Mike Klis, "no change will be made for the Broncos’ next game." Coach John Fox said Monday that he "definitely" saw improvement from Tebow against the Lions, despite the lopsided outcome, and insisted turnovers were the difference. "We've got to see if he can improve and get better in the passing game," said Fox. It sounds like Tebow may only get one more start before the Broncos seriously consider benching him. So 1 guy on the planet saw improvement. I'm assuming Silver has his quotes right. If so, I can't recall hearing such pointed criticism of an active player before.Tebow "embarassing"

“Can you believe ’15’?” one Detroit Lions defender asked after his team’s 45-10 immolation of Tebow and the Denver Broncos. “Come on – that’s embarrassing. I mean, it’s a joke. We knew all week that if we brought any kind of defensive pressure, he couldn’t do anything. In the second half it got boring out there. We were like, ‘Come on – that’s your quarterback? Seriously?’”

has anyone seen any post game quotes from Tim??? anybody watch the press conference??

This is the NFL's own site: "the Lions took pride in putting a big dent in the theory that charisma and faith will carry the day for the second-year pro."http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d823a4c8c/article/lions-defender-calls-tebow-a-joke-following-decisive-victory?module=HP11_headline_stackWow this is stupid. The guy did not get drafted in the 1st round based on charisma and faith.
You're right. He got drafted in the 1st round, undeservedly, by an ego-maniacal coach who absolutely decimated his roster in one off-season, while in the process showing that he was a horrible talent-evaluator.Getting drafted in the first, after a TRADE UP by McDaniels, was the worst thing that could have happened to Tebow's career.

Funny how quickly the NFL changes, people used to be bored when playing the Lions. Tebow is a terrible passing QB, but it is strange to see how many people hate the guy (except for his diehard supporters). I mean they don't just think he sucks, they want him to fail and generally appear to dislike him as a person. Obviously his overly religious persona and that abortion commercial have really pissed some people off. There is nothing I hate more than being preached to, especially when it comes to personal liberties. I do wish he preached less but it is kind of ridiculous how many people actually seem to loathe the guy. This guy didn't kill anyone drunk driving, beat his girlfriend, have six illegitimate children, traffic cocaine in his car, or knowingly allow the operation of a dog fighting ring on his property.
