Elway has made it clear that Tebow will get the nod for 2012, regardless of the other QBs the Broncos will sign for camp. The pro-Tebow camp assumes that he is going to be fantastic and take the Broncos to the playoffs. Let's take a time out for a second.

What if he is not fantastic, and he loses most of those close games he won in 2011? What if the Broncos win 4 games next year? Does Tim Tebow get all the credit when the Broncos win, but none of the responsibility when they lose?

The NFL is about winning. Where is the accountability line for Tim Tebow in 2012? *** Note: this poll is for Tebow supporters.

From what I recall, Elway committed to Tebow being a top the depth chart heading into training camp (and by extension the starter to begin the season). Beyond that, I think Tebow is on a short leash and he will not be given a 16 game window to get up to speed.

On paper, the Broncos have a much more difficult schedule next year:

Home games: OAK, KC, SD, BAL, CIN, ATL, CAR, HOU

Away games: OAK, KC, SD, CLE, PIT, NO, TB, NE

At the moment, that looks like a killer schedule. Even if Tebow played well, the Broncos could easily go 5-11. Whether that means he gets benched is anyone's guess, but if Elway only looks at wins and losses Tebow may be in trouble.

wow, that is some schedule.

I think he gets about the same leash Orton had last year. If, after 5 games, the Broncos are 1-4 and Tebow leads the league in turnovers, it would be fair to pull the plug.

Of course, it all depends on who else is on the roster. I doubt Tebow would be pulled for, say, Sage Roselfels.

:goodposting: This is what I think about when I think about Tebow getting pulled next year:

Which vet free agent QB out there that is in any sort of demand is going to put Denver on the top of their list? I have a tough time seeing a Chad Henne (or someone like that) looking to go to Denver and wrest away the job from Tebow. Think I'd rather try and go to Seattle, or Cleveland, or even freaking Baltimore.

I think it's way to soon to think about Tebow getting pulled, I think he gets at least one full season as the starter. I just don't see the Broncos finding one (or two) potential starters to compete with Tebow. QBs are tough to come by.

And really, even though I am not remotely a believer, it's too soon to throw dirt on Tebow, even if you are a complete hater. He could improve as a passer, and if he shows improvement, even a little, people will be patient. The fans certainly will. I don't think he can be a Super Bowl champion QB, but he can win games. And if there's no stud waiting in the wings, it's gonne be tought o pull him for, as Moleculo says, Sage Rosenfels.

He has to play well, I don't think you can quantify it with wins and losses.

Denver made the playoffs this year, expectations will be they need to be fighting for that again next year, if not QBs are one of the first to be looked at as possible escape goats, that'll be doubly the case in Tebow's situation.

Win your home games, steal a couple on the road and he'll keep his job.

I answered 7, but it could be fewer if he looks like he's improving as a QB. If the Broncos lose 10+ games and Tebow looks like he did in his bad 2011 games, I think they'll bail on him.

Wow, what is your obsesion with hating on Tebow? I'm not a big Tebow guy, but this is strange. Let it go.Don't you have better things to worry about?

Somehow, I am going to think of a third Tebow poll, just for you. Now get back to rehabbing that ACL.

It would be a shame if Tebow did not get a full year after two partial years with good results. They spent the first round pick on him. He has shown a winner's ability and uniqueness. Does Elway want more fan billboards?Tough schedule. They had better not overlook Carolina.

If Philip Rivers is back at 100%, I potentially see:Split with OAKSplit with KC2 losses to SDLosses to BAL, CIN, ATL, CAR, and HOU at home.Losses to PIT, NO, and NE on the road. That's a 4-12 record. Maybe they steal one somewhere. 5-11 overall. That's obviously based on what we know today and the players on each particular team.I think Tebow used up his late game miracles last year. I don't hate on Tim, but at this point he is still a project and a work in progress with a ways to go to become a fully refined and functional NFL QB. Put another way, if teams score 20 on DEN, I don't see them winning many games.

Office water cooler talk about Tebow eventually leads to: "he just finds a way to win". No one can really explain it beyond that. I like that measuring stick and agree with most in the poll: Tebow has to win 7+ games next year to stay on this path to mega-stardom.
