Time to drop T.O> (1 Viewer)

My two cents:

First off, in my dynasty league I'm holding onto him. Have had him for 7 years, my roster can handle it. I cut Jason hill when I needed to make a move but so be it. If/when TO foes back, he's better anyhow, and I might actually trust him in my lineup instead of a Manningless Wayne.

I thought TO looked tired during the workout but once he started running routes he stopped gasping for air. He looked crisp and pretty good. Even Jerry Rice noted---TO looked like he was getting stronger during the workout, not weaker. Jerry said he had no doubt he had football left in him.

Someone will take a chance...I'll take my chances. I don't need a stud but I just want better than Jason hill. He can o that easily.

I need to say this carefully b/c I know it's going to come out wrong. But T.O. can actually be a GOOD influence on young WRs in terms of work ethic just as long as they are mentally mature enough to not get sucked into his diva personality. He learned from Jerry Rice and you can argue that his PHYSICAL work ethic has surpassed even Jerry's.

I don't think this little WR tree is a coincidence:

Jerry Rice --> T.O.

T.O. --> Miles Austin

T.O. --> Stevie Johnson

Can't really say anything for Philly or Cincy, but despite all the diva drama, his work ethic during PRACTICE rubs off well on some younger WRs. Personally I'd like to see him go to Tennessee since I have Britt, Williams, and Cook on various teams. Maybe even CJ can learn a thing or two from him...

I actually didn't think he looked that great. He favored his left leg and wasn't able to plant well on it, and candidly it looks 20% smaller than it used to.

An interested team does not need to scout TO. The dude isn't some highschool or college player. Every team knows what he's about and what he can do. What they don't know is if he's healthy enough.
This...

TO has played in the league for 15 years...no one needed to be at that workout.. it is good to see that he is running well, and an interested team will bring him in for a workout to see where he is at for themselves and evaluate him by their standards

Would he return to Buffalo? They could use another threat and he probably left there with a decent reputation in the locker room, with the front office and with many players that are still on the roster.

I'm not sure Jerry is the best guy to ask when it comes to deciding when it's time to hang 'em up.

Raiders | Carson Palmer not looking for T.O. reunion

Thu, 27 Oct 2011 07:14:45 -0700

Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer said he is not looking for a reunion with free-agent WR Terrell Owens (Bengals). Palmer and Owens had some success together with the Cincinnati Bengals last season. "T.O. and I had a great working relationship. He had one of his most successful years over the past five or six years, a lot of production and he was a great teammate in Cincinnati. The problem is that for him to get here there's not anybody that we could let go," Palmer said. "We have a stable of young horses that can run and guys that can just move. Very young, very inexperienced but tons of potential and it's tough to give up a young guy with a lot of potential for a guy that's got a lot of history in the league that's in his late 30s so I can't see him coming here, but I had a good time playing with him and he's an explosive player himself."

The Arena League's Chicago Rush have offered free agent Terrell Owens a contract.

At least someone wants him. "We feel that this is an ideal time to approach the future NFL Hall of Famer," Rush GM Gene Nudo said. "It would be a fantastic honor to add Terrell to our current roster for the 2012 season." Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, acknowledged on the radio Wednesday that his client has generated no phone calls from NFL clubs after Tuesday's public workout.

Finally someone wants T. O.

I think he would return to anywhere in the NFL. When he talked to NFLN, he said, 'It only takes one team'. This guy isn't waiting for a playoff contender, he is waiting for a paycheck. Question is, Buffalo had him, showed no interest in re-signing him, and now he is two years older with an ACL question, why would they re-sign him now? Passing game seems to be cruising right along, why rock the boat?

won't be long before Donald Jones gets healthy and all reports are that they traded Evans away because they are excited about his development. Why would they stunt it?

He looked great. He'll get signed somewhere before the year is over. definitely a good stash if you have the room. With espn and the nfl network there, the 32 nfl gms have already watched the tape. Someone will sign him eventually. He's too good not too. Don't buy into all the media hype and hysteria. The NFL is a shrewd business, and i honestly wouldn't be surprised to see him in a pats uni. Or maybe even in an eagles uni again.A lot of that will depend on what injuries come down the pipe.
why would the Eagles want him? They don't even have room for Cooper or Smith to get any reps. I doubt he would move ahead of Maclin, Jackson, or Avant. What is the use of WR4's that don't play specials?
The eagles scenario would require desean and/or maclin to go down with injury. With the injury history of those two it's not exactly an unlikely scenario.
did you get that from the same source that thought they would be interested in Burress?Cooper and Smith are probably the best WR4/5 in the league right now and I seriously doubt TO would put them in a better position to win ball games

OAK is 1 of the few teams actually deep enough at WR where they shouldnt want TO. No big deal

He apparently tried to commit suicide a few weeks ago.

Former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens was rushed to the hospital on October 6, though the reasons he was there weren't made public at the time. Now, three weeks later, TMZ.com has obtained the 911 call, made by Owens' assistant.According to the female caller, who identified Owens as her boss, the former NFL star took "four prescription pain pills -- I just don't know how many he's taken but he took them about 30-45 minutes ago."When the 911 operator asked if Owens was awake, the caller said, "Barely … we talk to him and he understands what we're saying." She also describe his breathing as "kind of shallow."Later during the call the operator asked if this was a suicide attempt. "Yes, I believe so," the caller said.

I'm no doctor, but are four pain pills enough to be described as a "suicide attempt?"

4 painkillers sounds like a fun night, not a suicide :banned: ...or Favre's breakfeast around '98

Her statement didn't make much sense: "four prescription pain pills -- I just don't know how many he's taken but he took them about 30-45 minutes ago."

Yet she didn't hesitate to answer in the affirmative when asked if it was a suicide attempt.

It depends on what kind. There are some where 4 is a substantial amount.

I don't know who's telling the truth but according to Rotoworld's website..."According to records obtained by TMZ.com, Terrell Owens was rushed to the hospital in early October due to a suicide attempt.

The 911 dispatcher asked Owens' personal assistant if the pill overdose was a suicide attempt. The response was, "Yes, I believe so." T.O. was reportedly talking with his girlfriend or ex-girlfriend prior to the incident, a possible cause. T.O. was hospitalized for a similar incident five years ago amid reports that he attempted suicide by swallowing 35 Vicodin pills. His reps have declined comment on TMZ's report."

Sad if true. I don't know what prescriptions there are and how potent they can be to know if four is too much or not. TO's money probably gave him access to some top docs that possibly prescribed more powerful pain meds than us normal folk can get. Who knows.

I spent some time with TO (and his then longtime girlfriend) when he played hoops in the Adirondacks. He was extremely misunderstood by the press and thus the public persona he had back then. In many ways, he would eventually become what they described though and I find that somewhat sad.

I was right there when he was lying down at the end of the bench stretching his back and resting his back while on the bench in hoops. He wasn't in and was trying to stay loose and take it easy on his back. Articles were written that he wasn't part of them team and was a negative influence etc. Between quarters and at timeouts, he handed out the drinks with another player. He didn't shoot often when he got the rock, but instead kicked it out from the block. I was fortunate to have an article published about the truth and all, but it was overshadowed by the massive onslaught of other negative articles. San Fran was upset he'd risk injury, yet he hurt his back busting in their weight room at their trainer's urgency. It was a tough spot for him to be in.

Anyhow, he wanted to get a home in the adirondacks for the warm months and just live quietly when he retired. He already had his sights set on some place in Georgia for the rest of the year. He had this whole understanding about toning it down and not living a lavish lifestyle, but instead enjoying the quiet simple life in retirement. That was 10-15 years ago. I hope he still covets that. It seems it would be good for him to be in a peaceful place.

He boasted so much, he's going to "get it" for the embarassment of no teams showing up, but after all that it'd be nice to hear he's back to this line of thought. I hope he doesn't become the "but I can still do it" type over and over with us mocking him in his old age.

FWIW I was told he has a nerve issue that caused the muscle atrophy. I don't wholly understand it but enough to know that it's not good. Word is he was told to have another surgery that involved fixing the nerve damage, but that it might not work and...I'm really into an area I'm not comfy with explaining as I simply don't understand it.

Back then, he did work out all the time and ate in such an impressive healthy manner with a whole disciplined plan involved. I have zero idea how he is now, but he doesn't appear to have changed in these habits. This is why I'm not sure he's done. If it can be done, TO can do it. It's just I'm not sure if it's medically possible.

Man, I hope somebody signs this guy soon. It's always the children that suffer. :(

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Times are tough for Terrell Owens -- so much so the currently former NFL star is asking a judge to lower his child support payments ... TMZ has learned.

Owens, who is currently not an NFL roster, wants to reduce the payments he's making for a son he shares with baby mama Monique Reynolds ... because, according to his rep, he's simply not getting paid these days.

The rep says Owens wants to make the payments a little more reasonable, adding, "His child support payments should mirror his income today and not be based on his income from over four years ago."

Owens was due in court in Northern California for a child support modification hearing on October 24, but didn't show up. His rep says his lawyers tried to reschedule, but lawyers for Reynolds refused.

NFL - Arrest warrant issued for WR Terrell Owens

Source: TMZ.com

A California judge has issued a bench warrant for free-agent WR Terrell Owens' (Bengals) arrest for not appearing at a scheduled child support hearing Oct. 24. Owens claims he had an obligation to attend a public workout session in the hopes of securing an NFL contract.

The Bengals may suddenly have interest in Owens again.
:lmao: Well played.

If the latest chapter of Terrell Owens' career were a movie, we'd title it "Requiem for a Wide Receiver." But it's real life, and T.O. really is taking what's left of his talents to the Indoor Football League.

Owens announced on Twitter and via a video that he will play for and also be a part-owner of the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League. Allen is a Dallas suburb, and the IFL is a 16-team league in mostly middling markets.

That's a significant drop in status for the man who ranks No. 2 all-time in the NFL for receiving yards.

The 37-year-old T.O. missed all of this NFL season after suffering a torn ACL, but announced on the video that: "Uh-oh, it's official. It just went down. I'm headed back to Texas. That's right. IFL, here I come. Allen, Texas, here I come. I'm gonna be me. Allen, Texas, I'll see you in the end zone."
