Ok. I'm not being a blind homer if I think that. His handles, vision, and shot is crazy. I didn't get to see Magic or Pistol Pete when they were playing so can't judge Curry against those guys. However, I don't remember Jason Williams or Nash doing the #### Curry does.

Jason Williams was more gimmicky. Obviously I never saw Pistol Pete either and only remember old man Magic. Curry is a unique guy anyway. None of those guys had the jump shot that he has. The play I'm talking about was the one where he ended up with the step back three that nobody in their right mind would have launched. You just have to laugh because those are the shots that every other player gets bashed for taking.

It's also more fun I think because he's like a normal sized regular looking guy out there doing this stuff. LeBron/Davis/Durant/Westbrook types are awesome but they look like they were basketball frankenstein inventions.

I think you would have loved young Magic and young Bird. They both had 360-degree vision.

Larry Bird YouTube highlights are by far the most entertaining old NBA stuff for me. Love watching that stuff. I think I brought that up in here once. Honestly, I've always been unimpressed by clips of the Showtime Lakers & Magic for whatever reason. Maybe my Laker hated or I haven't seen the good stuff.

It's also possible that the Magic/Showtime stuff loses some luster outside of its original context. There's a similar effect with trying to appreciate the innovations of guys like Julius Erving and David Thompson if you've already seen the work of generations of players inspired by them. Same can be said with other forms of entertainment like movies or music.And BTW, in the general NCAA hoops thread there was a run a few nights ago posting links to old college games and highlight reels. I posted a highlight tape of the first game I remember seeing Larry Bird play: a Missouri Valley conference game between Indiana State and Wichita State where Bird had 49 points and 15 rebounds. We were holding a Hank Gathers tribute in that thread and then several guys started posting links of favorite old games and players.

White Chocolate became a decent 3-point shooter later in his career and was a very good FT shooter. His shot selection was brutal, though. A lot of contested twos.

Maravich was an outstanding long-range shooter and automatic from the line. He was a bit of a circus act, but his offensive game would translate really well to this era. He would be able to shoot/make threes in volume, and draw some fouls near the hoop. Couldn't guard anybody then and wouldn't be able to guard anybody now.

Maravich was a career 44% shooter.

I don't think I ever said I was confident they would beat the Hawks. I said I believe they have a better chance vs the Hawks than against the Bulls or Cavs. The Bulls (assuming Butler is healthy) and Cavs would wreck them in 4 or 5. Against the Hawks, I think it would be a 6-7 game series either way.

Yes, I very much like their chances vs the Wiz in the first round. I would guess that Vegas would make them as a pretty decent favourite right now; -200ish.

Before this terrible run started, they hammered ATL, LAC, WAS and beat SA. They're slumping right now, no question. Lowry and Derozan have been, in their words, trash. The schedule lightens down the stretch (though it is road heavy) and they'll got back on track.

ATL isn't playing at the level they were, but no way could I take anyone in the East (save Cleveland) over them so long as they stay healthy. Chicago has a ####load more collective talent than ATL but the latter just plays so much better together. The ball is always moving in ATL and fun to watch.

2 years ago Curry broke the record for most 3 pointers in a single season with 272. Last year he had the 4th most ever in a season at 261. This season he is on pace for 275 which would break his own record. There's a pretty good chance he'll have 3 consecutive seasons all in the top 5 all time.

Middleton is underrated. It is sad he will likely be the odd man out when Parker returns with Giannis a mainstay. Middleton would be a great 3rd option on a team like the clippers.

The Nuggets are 4-2 since firing Shaw, including wins against two playoff teams. The two loses were respectable games against the Spurs and Rockets. Gallinari is playing like his 2013 self since Hunt took over, Faried is playing like the guy who got the fat contract in the offseason and started for the national team, and everybody is hitting threes. Their play has been a bit unsustainable, but the offense is being ran to the Nugget's strengths for the first time in the last two years. I'll be blown away if Shaw ever gets another head coaching job.

All three of those guys have ambiguous positions, there should be no problem getting Middleton 30 mpg in the future.
