timschochet's thread - Ranking hemorrhoids (2 Viewers)

Wow - Hawks look like #### and Warriors should be winning by 30 - I can't believe I stayed up to watch this. Hoping to play GS again this year - would be a fun series.

Brad Stevens should be the coach of the year if he gets that slop of a roster into the playoffs. I don't care what their record is. Budenholzer likely already has it wrapped up though.

The thread title really needs to get upgraded after last nights Knicks-TWolves debacle. Made the mistake of flipping to it during one of the NCAA timeouts. There's not enough words to describe how bad it was. I'm pretty sure the only guy that would have started for Kentucky was Wiggins.

Another big game for the K-tankers tonight versus the 7-tankers. Lose again and they're sitting pretty for the most ping pong balls.

BREAKING: Kevin Durant to be "removed form basketball activities" and is out indefinitely
Holy ####.

Probably the right move, they're not beating the Warriors with a banged-up Ibaka (if he can even play) after going hard until the very end of the regular season to hold off the Pelicans. But still a huge surprise considering (1) the Thunder don't ever seem to take the cautious route with injuries, and (2) the free agency thing.

Yeah, I've been slacking lately. Too much stuff going on and my easy target whipping boys are sitting out collecting fat cheques while watching their teams race for the basement.

horrible news for okc about durant i hope that he stays there but man i just do not see it happening what a shame bromigos

A year ago, would have been sacrilege to say Durant would be moved moved...fast forward, one year...and its almost a forgone conclusion.

Some fantastic coaching again by Casey tonight. Love how he limited JV to 22 minutes and 1 shot. Gotta keep him rested!

And as I type that, he reinserts him into the game down 20 with 2 minutes left. Coach of the year IMO.

Not that there should be any doubt, but Mirotic is gonna be an All Star (and soon). Guy already plays like a 10 year vet offensively.

He's gonna push one of Gasol or Noah outta the lineup (or team) sooner rather than later. 4 and 5s simply can't guard him.

Its just so baffling. I didnt watch the game but I just couldnt understand the Minny game especially looking at the stat line. Maybe there was a run here or there but the box score makes it look like the game was fairly close all the way through and JV puts up 15 and 15 with a block on 7-9 shooting and that only deserves 24 minutes. It just makes zero sense.

Coming into the season the assumption was his greatest strength would be his outside shooting. However, he's shooting terrible from 3 (31% on the year, 26% over the last few months) yet still has been reasonably efficient. Over the course of season he has shown improvement in getting to the line and finishing around the basket.

About your last point, I think there's a good chance Gibson will be traded this summer and Gasol and Noah stay. With all the bigs now healthy, it will be interesting to see how many minutes Mirotic gets at SF down the stretch and in the playoffs. Maybe they can keep all four of them for at least another year.

Why are we assuming he gets moved now?
Only way he gets traded is if he tells OKC there's a zero percent chance he stays. They'll have too good of a team next year for him to pull that. Hopefully everyone stays healthy and they can try and make a run at it next year, if he decides to go elsewhere after that then good for him.

If Davis continues to miss games I think the Thunder will sneak in and it'll be a really fun four or five games against Golden State. Hopefully they continue to do the smart thing with Ibaka and Durant and keep them off the floor. No sense in them playing again this year.

Westbrook, Durant, ibaka, kanter, and Adams...looks formidable.

This could not only be the beginning of the end of Durant in Oklahoma City, but the beginning of the end of the Thunder in Oklahoma City.

Steve Nash officially retires.

Life After Basketball

I'm retiring.

I heard someone once say there comes a day when they tell us all that we can’t play anymore. We’re not good enough. Surplus to requirements. Too slow, maybe. When you’re a teenager with outsized dreams and a growing obsession, and someone tells you this ain’t gonna last forever, it’s scary. I never forgot it.

So what did I do? Stayed obsessed. Set goals. Worked. Dreamed. Schemed. Pushed myself beyond what was normal or expected. I looked at my hero, Isiah Thomas, and thought to myself, “OK, I’m nowhere near the player he is but if I get better every day for 5 or 10 years, why can’t I be as good as him?”

continued...

All NBA spots for guard will be hard to sort out.

First: harden / curry

Second: Westbrook / Paul

Third: Irving / Wall

No Lowry, klay, wade, Parker, lillard,... Wow.

Suns peaking at the right time? with Durant out we have a shot for the 8th seed and an early exit vs Golden State. I still would like the squad to get the experience.

Top 5 in average four quarter points scored since March 1 with at least 5 games played:

5. Anthony Davis 7.3

4. Stephen Curry 7.8

3. Russell Westbrook 8.3

2. LeBron James 8.5

Guess who is #1?

Nikola Mirotic 9.5

Actually guessed right :) .He's really flown under the radar this year due to inconsistent minutes

NBA TV is showing Game 5 from '94 between the Nuggets and Sonics -- the first time an 8 seed beat a 1 seed. Weird, I was just thinking about this series the other day when I saw Gary Payton. A buddy of mine lost a small fortune on this series.
