Titans 2018 (2 Viewers)

Another thread here-
Titans trade for Murray. What they gave up hasn't been announced but rumor is a third.

He is open to redoing his contract and his agent has already contacted the Titans about doing this
I hope he takes a cap friendly deal and can stay healthy.

Bye, Bye Bishop...

Earlier I mentioned a couple 2nd round tender guys, in the last few days several have been added to this pool.

I really hope they can trade with the Rams and get the two second rounders and get a RFA
Who would you target at 15?

What would the trade look like 1,15+their 2 2nds for 1.01? Is that really enough? And why would the Titans need 3 2nd rounders?

Yours is interesting. I was hoping the Rams really wanted someone that fell to their 2.02 pick.

I google RFA tenders and can't find a list to share. Spotrac and OTC don't seem to have it this year. I like several with second round tenders. Kamar Aiken I mentioned earlier.

"A good young player who can start right away" is what I'm hoping for in the draft and it feels more assured with the RFAs and you skip that development time for rooks.

It just seems like an unusually good list of good(not great) players like teams are following some trend.

Titans signed C Ben Jones from Houston. He played 16 games at C in 2015, 16 at LG in 2015.

He's very good run blocker, meh at pass protection.

They aren't expected to commit to a position for him. I think that means as things develop it'll clear up and/or they want a camp battle.

I approve.

But if he can't take the job from Schwenke I'd be very surprised

Listening to radio now

Cosell and PK discussing line and about the same thing-let it play out.

Cosell thinks they can get a better C(talent, unproven while he is established) in the draft but so many needs so few picks.

I don't think anyone beats out Spain. He's just what ya want. Allowed only a half sack and called a mean blocker and is huge. Poutasi was on the low side, but you expect rooks to struggle and then improve second year. If Spain improves, no one beats him.

Warmack needs to play consistent. He doesn't so I want a reaction there. Trade, good sub, whatever.

Schwenke is always hurt. Gaillick looked worse than Poutasi.

I think the Titans leave the door open for Poutasi and Gailick to improve, for Schwenke to appear healthy or something, Warmack to have a better attitude/discipline to be consistent.

Also, not much more but Jones is actually the most experienced lineman so one of them could mesh up with him and pick his brain and all.

The meshing is most important for any line. Seeing them practice will also show who plays well together because OL is a unit, not individuals. See what happens when Casey lines up opposite them. That in and of itself might tell who should play where and whom works well together.

FINALLY PK opens up

Been waiting a year for it

Caller asks about Murray and 3rd down and McCluster.

His answer "Cobb is on the team" other host giggles.

No one brought him up, where'd that come from?

Cohost says Sankey sucks. PK replies Andrews sucks, they both suck.

Other voice jumps in to conversation, mentions how the market loves Andrews. PK almost yells "they're wrong!"

A Cobb "oh cmon" comment/insult otherwise not mentioned again.

Carries on and on...

Like I've been telling you it is only PK that hates Andrews. Get over that he's not a good interview already PK!

DeMarco Murray contract details with the Titans. 2016: $6M base, fully guaranteed. Up to $1.5M in incentives. 2017:,$6.25M base, $3M fully guaranteed. 2018: $6.25 base, $3M fully guaranteed, $3.25M guaranteed for injury and becomes fully guaranteed on fifth day of league year. $250k roster bonus on fifth day of league year. Up to $1.5M in incentives. 2019: $6.5M base. $250k roster bonus on fifth day of league year. Up to $1.5M in incentives. (Kuharsky)

That's a helluva deal for Murray, and only had to swap 4ths for him?  Seems like a no brainer.  I like that deal much better then the thought of going after Martin, which I heard a few people mentioning.  Bummed the Titans lost out on the DT from the Jets.  Need to address NT.

The Vikings signed safety Michael Griffin and are in need of an upgrade at the safety position next to Harrison Smith.

From what I recall about him as a rookie he was well rounded but did not really stand out in any area. How did he play last season? Would you say his strength is more in coverage or against the run?

He has lost a step, clearly.

Last year his Polamalu role was part rude awakening for him part for Lebeau. Polamalu had speed as did Woodson and Lake. If Lebeau put him at the LOS as just a false front, he didn't have the wheels to always get deep where he belongs. He looked tired in 4th Qs and probably ran more than any other defender.

Young Griffin could have probably done that...if you can make the pro bowl while Ed Reed and Polamalu are playing, you're pretty darn good. He hasn't been that good in a few years, since the D crumbled really.

Rashad Johnson, above visiting tomorrow, will probably be depth. He's 30 and solid but he's 30. Cards didn't re-sign him and said they wanted someone taller and more athletic. Ramsey is still very much a fit. This is a huge position for a top athlete in an ideal Lebeau D. They lost Cody too so Rashad could be his replacement. He CAN play and start but there's no way the plan is to go from an old guy that knows the D and teammates to an old guy that doesn't.

Zimmer still runs the D he meshed from Parcells n Jimmy. Remember Johnson was obsessed with speed while Parcells wanted size. They have a good D, a great coach, and he should be able to just be an outfielder for the first time in years. Now Zimmer also wanted a coach on the field to help cut down on mental mistakes. So I assume he's starting and they hope he can help some of the young guys before he retires.

He's been a real good safety for a number of years and just got older

I'm probably way too excited about this signing.  I really like his versatility.  With him and Murray, the Titans should have a massively improved run game to help MM in his 2nd year.

Rishard Matthews isn't a sexy signing but he should help a lot too.

Rishard being one of the best(technically ever but geesh is that way too strong an endorsement) at catching targeted passes is nice. I am still hungover I guess from the Britt days and drops worry me

It's difficult to find anyone with under 4 years on the waiver wire. With this rookie cap it's almost like why bother cutting them now, wait til after camp.

This is the only guy I could see the Titans signing with first WW priority

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1697207/dax-swanson

Journeyman CB (on practice squads) but after his time in NE he signed with Tampa and...maybe compete for Titans PS.

Really not seeing much available

Cassel?

So Mett is 3rd string?

Hope Mariota stays healthy
Competition.

They still have Alex Tanney. Who looked good, really for the first time like it finally clicked for him, last year.

And IIRC they signed Mike Kafka to a futures contract.

When Robinson was hired, one of the points he made was that they should have competition at every spot on the roster and it didn't seem like the previous regime did that. They are happy with their P and K but they're expected to bring in one of each too. It could be a UDFA.

With Mett. He was put in terrible scenarios last year, much worse than Mariota. I don't think any QB would have won in his situation. Previous year, he threw less than 10 passes in the second and third Q to WRs and was instructed not to, outside the Browns game. They are NOT kind to backup QBs. Hey ya know how we're playing a top D this week? Well we're gonna give you a couple backup linemen and sit your best WR, good luck.

I do think they are in a position to trade him. I don't think he has much of any value though. Maybe if he does well, yet again, in preseason someone will trade for him.

These changes to the Titans run game that (Cosell and Kuharsky discussed on the radio) to suit DeMarco, would have been exactly what Sankey needed- almost "to a tee" exact.

(I pasted the tweets in DeMarco thread. PK chats and tweets conversation best he can)

I wouldn't be surprised if it suits Cobb and Andrews also.

Their lack of ability to create is not uncommon despite 800,000 draft guys claiming every RB has great vision.

More on this guy

http://www.syracusenewtimes.com/youre-not-done-yet/

If ya don't feel like reading- he's 5-10 185 pounds and only just got rolling with a trainer. A former D2 and NAIA player because he was a "knucklehead" bad student. Three sports in college, captain of hoops team.

Scored 28 TDs in HS leading his team to a state championship and then his "knuckelhead" grades cost him and fell off everyone's radar.

Not very productive in college but did average 30.5 and 20 yards per catch.

Oh did I mention he ran a 4.19 40? :-) Yeah let's see what happens when the trainers get him faster and some 'meat on those bones.'

150+ texts after running that time at the regional combine. I doubt he'll be a UDFA. Gotta spend a 7th if every team inquired.

I love how he worked hard as a trucker and some other things and finds it confusing to work hard as an athlete, so is learning that as he puts the time in. He sounds so honest about his messups, the humility, etc.

Perfect project guy IMO

In the least, he could be the hardest working guy in camp and inspire/pep up others.

Coty Sensabaugh signed with Rams, skipped other scheduled visits.

I like CB/S types for depth especially if "just OK."

I wonder if 4 players visit, none signs...what happened?

Robinson upset with scouting dept thinking they're targets and they aren't? Robinson being frugal?

Something very curious about it

Price to play in Nashville?

I meant they wanted extra money to play for the Titans that they would take elsewhere
Oh. Yeah that could be another theory.

Matthews is the first WR to want to play with Mariota and Murray mentioned him a few times. I guess that could be the start of changing things for free agency.

Titans signed backup ILB Sean Spence as per Wyatt.

He sat two years with a knee injury and overcame.

Where else would Matthews be a starter?

Then again, even Mike Wallace got a job (and thankfully not by the Titans), so anything is possible I guess

I'm thrown they haven't signed a RT or FS.

Draft people now say if you draft Ramsey high he is a CB- ie CB more important position than S, more difficult to fill. I am not in agreement not in Lebeau's D.

One of Tunsil 's teammates was telling some story where he got in trouble and Tunsil was in the other room and did nothing. Supposedly that hurt him but as of now that "hurt" seems oh so minimal.

I've been watching Myles Jack lately. Fascinating. Years ago, when they were cheap, I wonder if they wouldn't have planned on him playing RB and D. I like his tackling more than Ramsey. He wraps up real well. I don't see why he couldn't play the Polamalu role.

Rams are like the Titans 3 years ago with a major drop problem.

IDK that he's starting in TEN

Wright, DGB, Douglas, Mattews, Hunter, Turzili.

Unless Hunter takes a big step forward Matthews is at worst WR3

IMHO Douglas should have been cut already

Well I'm gonna guess he signs. I am not 'high' on him at all now. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets cut last week of preseason. My Broncos friend says he's very immobile, that plus the knee affects the offense. Greg Cosell on radio made him sound like he'd be excellent in pass protection, liability in run game. Some of the negatives give off this 'hold on a sec, he was an NFL starter' so I definitely will be open to change my opinion here.

Mularkey loves Douglas. Now they added Robiskie who does too. I agree 100%, but he isn't going anywhere unless Robinson wants to battle this early in his career with the HC.

Hunter took a major step forward last year- huge, giant, pick a word. Whis NEVER 'threw the dog a bone' with his WRs. DGB got more work when Mularkey (and injuries) took over.

The more distance from his time with Ten, I really want to use a curse to describe Whis' treatment of WRs.

Hunter played all three spots. Their "small WR" spot and the slot were very much not his thing when he came into the league. He was arguably the best WR in camp. He didn't have drop problems. Not one time was he called out for dogging it on routes or running the wrong one. He is open a lot and not hit with the pass. First time ever it is very much not on him. He wasn't really there for Mularkey change. I think one week.

On one site, he has an extremely high target to catch ratio. "Catchable passes" and targets type issue for the stats but if ya look at last year, you can see it's favorable.

Now he needs a team to use him. IDK if that's gonna happen in Ten or elsewhere. He always does well in camp and people note his huge frame and athleticism so I guess it's possible but to me he looks like he will thrive on a new team. He hit their criteria last year and they didn't throw him a bone. Development is done, time to bear fruit but...think it happens elsewhere.

Nothing on the O from the team yet, nothing. Still planning.

I'm over-anxious but it's march. They want competition everywhere. Matthews is the first normal WR they've had in a while. He is not huge and fast he is not tiny and super quick. He could have that sort of unspecial yet super reliable quality to him which then ultimately makes him oh so valuable. He was tops (IIRC) in NFL in catch to target ratio. He could lose a competition in camp with the others. It's possible. However once the season starts I bet he shines. This should play out in preseason and not be an issue. At first though the super athletes should impress.

I wanna know- even though he is GM and not coach- does Robinson want (Welker, Edelman, Amendola) a gem in the slot? I think with Wright and Matthews battling each other they could exit camp with a gem there if they commit to it. Mularkey does have to give him (or share) a plan so he can build accordingly. Is DGB Calvin like? Are they doing the main guy in the slot? What's the plan? You know, it's very rarely a perfect world with 3 excellent WRs. One is usually the focal point.

I think Walker is awesome but halfway difficult to get the ball to at times. I would like Mariota to have 'his guy' and that this is significant.

I wouldn't think jack would be worth the top pick.  But if he's the next Polamalu he would be.

Yeah I guess he'd have to be a trade down target.

The trade down options aren't good. Everything I've read is like "yeah what team would do that?"

Today my guess is Chip Kelly does something because he's a draft trader type or the Rams do with their 2 seconds.

No one has multiple picks that make sense.

I think that's why people are guessing "and a first next year."

I thought Fish was done but his USC stuff and the team moving to LA helped. I bet he's gotta win some in 2016. Their mishmash at QB and fake love for Keenum...I feel like something is up there but...I got nothing.

Jags now have three Ts and 4 DEs? Something there? Division rival?

The only thing reasonable I can think of is a good quality player and picks. Without the commodity of multiple picks I guess players.

Really stuck

Nice bit lower down from that article on performance based salary increases.

Antonio Andrews made an addtl 154K - 30% pay increase. Not bad!
