Not real sure how I feel about that, I liked wake for his veteran presence but that wasn't really necessary.
Oh how many people had thought he over Henry....-OZ- said:Not real sure how I feel about that, I liked wake for his veteran presence but that wasn't really necessary.
With Dion gone, I'd think they may draft a back or maybe sign a vet like Hyde as a true backup.
That Conk contract will give a nice compensatory pick next year. The Mariota contract not so muchHenry tagged and Kelly re-signed
Conk to Browns for 20mil per is the first franchise level ($ amount) free agent the Titans have had in a decade...and Henry
THe move saves about 8.6m for the capThe move amounted to a salary dump for Tennessee, who quietly had been open to offers for the defensive lineman, per Rapoport. The move also indicates the Titans are ready for Jeffery Simmons to take on a bigger role in his second season. Simmons was a force for Tennessee once hitting the field after recovering from an ACL tear. The Titans are counting on a larger leap from the first-round pick in 2020.
Casey is set to earn $11.85 million in base salary in 2020, $5.45 million of which becomes guaranteed this weekend. He is under contract through 2022.
It may still be smart if they land Clowney and he comes through. No secret they have had issues coming over the sides. But Casey. I weep.So upset, told ya weeks ago
Suppose to free money up for Clowney
Best player in recent Titans history, one of best teammates, and adored by fans.
What team wouldn't take him for a 7th? I'd at least have liked to see him go play for Belichick
Not re-signing Woodyard or Ryan...Vrabel is blowing up an awesome locker room
It's absurd. The market is doing this as there are very few high level OLB edge rushers in the draft.Vic Beasley for about the money they saved (+1m) by trading Casey. One year deal. SMH
Parham signed with the ChargersOne TE, Donald Parham, was excellent and a big 6-8. Clearly outclassed the talent there like he's probably NFL caliber. I bet he commands $, if not, he could be a nice get for the 4th TE spot and see if he can beat anyone out in camp.
YeahParham signed with the Chargers
I want to know why the CB was a first round grade all offseason and they were able to get him in the 2nd.So...we got OL Isaiah Wilson with the 29th pick. What do you guys think - good or bad pick based on team needs and who was on the board?
You and me both, but I hope that Evans can be everything Lewis hasn't been - a real change of pace guy that can also help in the passing game - assuming Smith wants to use one of those.I wish Lafleur didn't grab Dillon. He was the perfect backup for Henry.
Per NFL.com the UDFA crop for the Titans. Anyone stand out?RB Cameron Scarlett
WR Mason Kinsey
WR Kyle Williams
WR Kristian Wilkerson
TE Tommy Hudson
C Aaron Brewer
OL Brandon Kemp
OT Anthony McKinney
DT Teair Tart
DT Kobe Smith
LB Khaylan Kearse-Thomas
LB Cale Garrett
K Tucker McCann
I'm guessing because once you do make it you can play 25+ years at the position. And usually there aren't many more than 32 kickers employed. Teams would rather recycle kickers with some success than take risks with the young guys.I like every kicker from college. Why do only a couple make it out of thousands of schools?
I actually understand the whole FB "strategy". Seems to me there is less demand for FB's than K's, P's, and LS's. The good ones in the NFL are always in danger of getting cut because a new OC may come along and not even use a FB. I would think that FB's are the one position that you could find a guy as an un-drafted FA and coach him up until a really good vet gets cut and you can scoop him up cheap. It also seems like a very "coachable" position where you can make a good size/athlete guy into a very good FB.I like every kicker from college. No FB despite saying they would add one predraft weekend
What made you think it was drug rehab? I can't find anything indicating that. Wyatt's tweet mentioned wrist injury, but didn't directly say the rehab was for that.Malcolm Butler entering rehab. PK tweeted Vrabel said it.
IDK How this goes from drug rehab to physical rehab but...not so bad now

Vrabel said Malcolm Butler will enter into a rehab program for
@Titans
. Is hopeful his health is good for 2020 after wrist injury last year.

It seems like a great college kicker would translate easier to the pros, but that doesn't seem to work out as well as it should.
PK? Someone used the word rehab, none of the talk then was PT but drugs. It's just simple english oops but I didn't bother to ask since I was late to reading it....just badVandyMan said:What made you think it was drug rehab? I can't find anything indicating that. The fullback will be back in the NFL this year or was late last year depending how ya think of it. Last I read was I think 20? 18? teams used one last year after like six were projected to.I actually understand the whole FB "strategy". Do agree with you about kickers, though. Seems to me you would just bring in two rookie(likely undrafted) K's to come in and compete with the vet. A rookie K is just payed so much less than some of these vets and the bottom half of the vets in the league probably aren't that much better than the guys you sign off the street anyway. K seems like a position where a lot of teams overspend for mediocre veterans.
I think I read something about this a few years ago. IIRC the gist was that the non American football kickers had no clue of their other responsibilities on special teams in a game situation and that was apparently hard to train. Not having played the game myself I have no idea whether this is BS or factI have no doubt there are better kickers available from college. Since all leagues look the world over, why isn't the NFL looking for kickers from other countries? Kids literally kick a ball all day in some countries. You gonna tell me goalies and rugby guys that can punt their ball a wow distance, can't do that with a football?
I think it's all just a pain in the neck. Coaches generally want a good K and to forget about it. I really think it also has to do with (I gotta get 52 guys ready for week one) time and attention. Remember the coaches do and don't want to lose practice time to special teams too. There is a pain in the neck vibe in it all too
Rugby punters might be more willing to tackle a returner if neededI think I read something about this a few years ago. I think this is something, sure but a bit overblown how people are talking about it.I read somewhere that soon there will be a deadline after which the contracts signed will not count against compensatory picks.
I'm thinking that could revitalize the market for Clowney
Apparently per Pelissero, Jackson's option picked up, Davis' declinedDifferent topic, I'd be surprised if the options for Corey Davis and Adoree Jackson are picked up. More so the former than the latter
That he'll have to deliver if he wants to stay. But it was that way anyway, IMHO. Now he just has more and earlier competitionThe UDFA WRs are all 6 foot ish quick guys. Slot type. It's interesting that they've added five quick slot WRs this offseason if you count Batson returning as an add.
What's that mean for Humphries?
Yes, sort of . Tannehill took 6 more sacks than Mariota (31-25) but with 80% more passing attempts. But he was still among the very worst in the league. Which will probably only get worse next year with Conklin gone.Looking over 2019 stats, I see that Titans gave up a ton of sacks. Did that change with the QB change? Is it likely to repeat in 2020?
Also Mariota's sacks were in 6 games, Tannehill's in 10. But yes, Conklin did well, and his replacement is one of Dennis Kelly (likely early season) and rookie Isaiah Wilson (likely later in the season)Yes, sort of . Camp should have been way more productive.Looking over 2019 stats, I see that Titans gave up a ton of sacks. Did that change with the QB change? Is it likely to repeat in 2020?
I'm not getting this vibe about other teams and find that weird, maybe concerning, maybe nothing....but weird.I don't wholly understand how teams are doing things for this gap til camp. The players can meet with the trainer and team doc and have been encouraged since typical spring time. They have to (really had to) meet with them for an evaluation but it could be virtual.
