Could have happened at any point over the last 3 weeks. I think the surprise win got him another week. They look lost.

Random stat: The last 4 QBs taken #1 overall, have gotten their HCs fired during their rookie season.

Saw that. This is more an indictment on GM/owner than the QB or coach. If a team was bad enough to get #1 overall pick, the current coach isn't that good. The GM/owner needs to decide is it going to get better or do I want to mess up my new QB with a bad coach?

DC Denard Wilson probably gets first dibs on an interview.
Their defense was second in yards allowed last year despite journeymen and late picks playing.
They would start strong and crumbled while he was DC this year. Good quotes after games by guys like Stafford and Payton and all.
Callahan took over the defense two weeks back when he lost play calling and they were horrendous. Post game he said he was involved schematically with the offense this week sooo I guess that's why the D played well.
He's from the Ravens. Well regarded. Not sure their D is so great without him.
Speaks very bluntly. Doesn't ever seem to disagree with what the public thinks or shine on anything.
Chris Harris left this yeat and was so well regarded he was kept by different staffs. Word was he wasn't getting noticed because Denard was. They are close. He turned down Vrabel to work with Glenn. People always notice an up n comer so Harris' stuff probably helped Denard too.
If you get a rare chance for him to talk about the offense, it is always YES! What he said! It speaks to ya like this dude sees it in practice. He knows.
He didn't agree with player moves and would tell ya. It would be possible he brought some guys back.
He's very constructive in a coach-y. He's gonna knock ya down when you stink but goes so hard talking how he'll help ya fix it and find success.
He can attract free agents and they'll have a ton of $.
I would bet he gets HC interviews and maybe hired elsewhere if the Titans don't.

I think the nail was saying how they did this n that well in the fourth quarter so they would adjust to help the offense and Cam finally have more success than that quarter and....totally not doing it.
He presented himself as seeing the light and then essentially ignoring it.
That's after a ton of quotes this offseason only to have spur of the moment promotions for week one.

There's a lot to be listed just those two are enough- he bucked the whole natural progression of earning a job and doing well.

I will absolutely miss his 3 hour interviews and as I said we will never have a coach so open to discussion. The league hasn't before and probably won't either. It's just so unheard of and I really appreciated that.
He can get a job on TV "like that." He is everything they want. Nice guy. Knowledgeable. Easy to listen to. Family history. Connections to famous QBs. I would bet that's his next step.

It's a theoretical discussion that's interesting to me.
We had the concept of is it better to play or sit rookie year? What about if the team clearly stinks?
Then discussions usually went to "what about a point at which the rookie has seen enough and you worry of bad habits and injury?"
I think the standard here is Eli saying how blind he was and watching Kurt Warner play was so enlightening. His world was a whirlwind and he didn't realize and he learned more from watching Kurt than himself. 20? years ago but I don't think there's been any change to discuss it differently.
Mayo boy was shocked how much the noise stopped in a January interview. Willis has amazing quotes about time and peace and Lafleur starting simple with him.
Is Cam in a vortex of cows and trash cans and rakes flying all around that he's only learning to survive or is he learning to play QB in the NFL?
Many have issues with his stance and rolling and getting set and unwillingness to put touch on it and...these are all drilled things. Should he play or work a ton with a coach like Mahomes did?
I think it's a good debate. Idk what's the right answer here. My only caveat I'd insist as if I had a choice is if he gets sacked X number of times the ref calls the fight. Let's watch him be careful of him getting shell shocked

If Levis was healthy, it would have been an interesting discussion to see if he would have started the season which maybe saves Callahan's job a bit if he looked more competent. As it stands, I literally can't even picture who Brandon Allen is. I looked him up and his profile still makes no sense. He's 33, been in the league since 2019 and has made 9 starts I guess. I literally cannot remember any of them.
Well it's also an admission they're probably not winning again.
Allen is a good guy third stringer ya want in a film room that looks good in preseason. I don't he think he's played much at all in the regular season.
A lot of times an interim HC widdles down the offense and makes it simple to simply create one on ones to evaluate.
A caller on the radio said bring Willis back. That would entertain us for sure.
I like the UFL guys.
I have long said teams should be signing PS QBs and cut em if they're no good like we work the FF WW. The extreme value if they get a good backup or starter is so so high. It would be like us picking up backup RBs til one hits.
Sometimes an interim talks of winning and rolls eyes. When it's evaluation, this is like the second training camp.

I swear an elderly high school coach would be the best interim HC right now.

I would be called names I'd take from other teams practice squads so often. The director of scouting better be able to tell me who to get and we'll work up a whole rapport so next draft is awesome too. Meanwhile if they can drum up a few starters it'll be big.
Not at all to be JRob like but I might trade minimal for an injured player since it's allowed. Let em rehab with us. We ain't gonna be good til next year anyway.
Burks and Mullings and Sweat and Latham and Ridley and Winston have me doubting the training staff. Hire a doc to throw in the mix and tell us why the reports aren't always logical. Get that blown up if need be or tweaked or idk but it can't be that we're so confused on health.
I'd interview Jim Wyatt so hard. He is so beloved and so knowledgeable and respectful and he has been with the team for decades. Should he be a VP overseeing role? What does he think they need to do? What has he seen being in the building and at practices? He's one of my favorite people and I know many think the same. You can't get a better trained eye.
Rambling...they gotta go plug n play and pretend they're an FF person. "It's a statistical fact" that 60 percent won't be there after a new coach is hired so use the luxury of this window to try stuff and evaluate everything.
The triumvirate that's 5-6 people- adios! We can't count and it didn't work.

It doesn't really matter what they do but try and show the fans big effort and keep Cam healthy for 2026.
Mike McCoy being named interim probably means ignore most of what I wrote and it'll be status poop for the remainder of the year.

McCoy interim and Hardegree QB coach to OC makes so much sense. He calls the plays.
Cam worked out with numerous QB coach trainers in the spring. Pick one as QB coach. You get the coaching and the continuity. Those guys coach every QB predraft and get rave reviews so who cares which one.
This is such a questionable dead weight move.
If McCoy says let's give him a chance to be OC and get some experience. Heck no! We're not grooming him for nothing. We're grooming Cam and the wealth of youthful players on offense.

I didn't see Kurt Warner's breakdown yet. I watch him all the time.
Supposedly he sees Cam motioning to sideline that the screen is covered and an unwillingness to change the play from them.
"He has no quick read option" has been Kurt's prob all year. Every QB needs one and with how their line is playing this is a terrible oversight.

I'm not shining or exaggerating when I say Eddie George might be an excellent option.
Some of the manager (not OC or DC) type head coaches have done very well. That he regularly talks with Fisher and some he played with seems wise "I don't know it all but I'm empowered by their advice."
I could definitely get down with a guy that says the word standards twenty times a week.
He's always been full of high class and character.
I liked his little interview of telling reporters something like- He told his DC it was unacceptable. Couldn't make out Q. He said he doesn't need me to tell him how to do his job. If he did. It would be time for a change. I give the man respect to do his job and then ask what he needs of me to get it done.
That sh is gold Jerry! Lewan has a phrase he says "I'd go to war for him" and I could imagine George's answer getting that response from Lewan.

While I think you and most of the others on this site know more about football than me my first reaction would be no. He'd certainly get a hometown boost from the fanbase and he's likely a run first coach which I think the Tians have always been a bit of a run heavy team. I googled him though and his college coaching record is BARELY above .500. I know a good run game can open the passing game up but I think maybe someone that is good at the passing game and has NFL experience-basically a top OC. A Klayton Adams or Klay Kubiak. Just someone named Klay!
Callahan lied to us all the time.
Chestnut was a short yardage back that can break one in a classic old way.
Spears was to be used all over the field and they supposedly wanted to simply get the ball in his hands anyway possible.
Pollard was a Swiss army knife that they didn't want to overwork but would be tempted to.

It's a long time since. It doesn't seem right to project a decade old offense but I don't want to ignore it.
If I'm watching and following Callahan-
I'm giving Pollard some breathers. Spears unless short yardage.
I see the two minute offense does well and am leaving Spears in it.
I'm unhappy with the WRs and the screen game that never uses Spears so I'm sprinkling him in. I'd want to know what a defense does when he lines out wide.
Chestnut is viewed as such a chump and he's been a camp darling for years. I might try him some til a defense plays him sincere. He busted one a couple weeks ago and Ward just missed him on a sure fire catch n run for a big gain.
So I think much of the same with Pollard but (above) and hoping I have some ideas for the following week. I think we'll see it and we'll have a good idea after this game.

Mullings doesn't block well and didn't pick it up. Some are now questioning his injury as bogus. I don't think he factors in until he can show McCoy he's gonna protect the QB.
Mims is a regular Swiss army knife that plays special teams. I don't think he plays but he's the typical 90s third string (not third down) back and has experience. He might be a threat to someone that we see doesn't block well this game.
Older coach is
going to re-emphasize blocking. Anyone that watches this team knows that's coming. They stink all over so...they all better nail their blocks this week

Chargers fans and writers seemed to favor him but once Vidal did well he's rarely mentioned

He also said he'd try to update day to day on injuries but they weren't going to make decisions til Sunday. Ummm nice try coach. The league rules say different.
He wouldn't share any changes he said because it would give the opponent a chance to know if he did. That was kinda douchey as he said he would share them.
I think it gives a hint of new sheriff in town. He may need to this week but he's gotta be different once established. Friendlier with general info easier going.

On Friday, Callahan had this grumpy attitude and said no one is playing until they put in a full practice. (Yep that wasn't true just figured coach speak. Rant for players or somesuch)
Saturday he was put on IR.
A reporter claimed he saw a limp on Thursday and every other reports said bs they didn't see nothing. That reporter did not double down and say I swear and all that, he said maybe I was wrong and such.
He returned and has confirmed he didn't injure himself further that week, expected to play, and gotta do what coach says.
I swear that reporter's (no ill will intended) report saved this from an NFLPA issue and Callahan being fired sooner.
(Plus his laying down the law with the defense and getting Brownlee traded for peanuts may never have happened.)
