Titans IDPs (1 Viewer)

Titans expected to meet with Rock Ya Sin not confirmed. Idk what that means exactly.

Tyus Bowser to visit Cowboys then Titans.

The defense is really coming along.
Rock Ya Sin is back on the 49ers roster after they placed guys on IR to make space

Jeff McClane was first but the rumor of CB turned " S James Bradberry could be traded to the Titans" seems to have some legs.
He was expected to be cut but then kept so...maybe.
If with Titans he'd be a backup CB that used to play for their defensive staff

Titans only kept four CBs (and BTW four DL) so that might lend to this too
Bradberry suffered a tendon injury in his lower leg and is now out 6-8 weeks for the Eagles.
I'm unfairly cynical of injuries for fringe roster guys

During the "you made it" video, Callahan yet again tells James Williams how it was incredible to watch him convert from S to LB and how they think he has a chance to be a real real good player in the NFL
He also said I guarantee ya we'll be counting on you at some point so be ready for that.

I'm especially curious how much he and Harrell play and if the shine wears off in season. Right now I'd project them to be locked in as starters in 2025 and some interesting roster moves if so, but...the shine usually wears off.

Shariff Finch was absurd his rookie camp too and even had a multiple sack game (maybe 4-6 sacks?) in preseason. He had mid 80s PFF rating then hurt his back and his career quickly went downhill so he's my cautionary tale here to keep me grounded

James Williams is 5th or 6th ILB
That's too low
I wouldn't be surprised if the Titans try and trade an ILB.
Do Jets, Giants, or Cleveland need one?

Jamal Adams missed practice with a hip injury
Otis is also injured/dealing with a concussion.

There are a lot crazier things that have happened than James Williams stealing their spot if they're both out.

I mean depth guy fringe roster (Otis) spot and old veteran added on smallish contract then the young guy that was "woah" in preseason gets to sub in and....I'm not saying it's likely. It's just, well it isn't unlikely either

Harrell has not looked like anything special. He's clearly not comfortable. His demeanor is obviously different too. I'm impatient for the youngster to get comfy.
The Titans D has been outstanding. Tops in the NFL and that's even with looking tired late and allowing drives late.

Williams isn't playing and I want to see him too.
The Titans need to sub more or actually control the clock some on offense because it doesn't matter how good the D is when they're tired..

Brownlee looks very good. He's allowed a few passes but he's being picked on and that's still all he's allowed.

McCreary has elevated his game with the pro bowl caliber outside CBs around him. Idk about his hand not being injured. He held it like people do when it's broken or wrist is hurt bad. Surprised they called it usual game bumps n bruises.

Both ILBs are everywhere and I love seeing both of them at the sideline making a play. We usually have one or a missed tackle. Jones is night n day more comfy than week one and flying around.

Adams looks like the game passed him by when he's near the LOS. He made a nice play but otherwise the Jets had no issue with him whatsoever and he often got tossed aside like get outta my way.

The safeties are playing fine. We've had bad defenses that relied on game saving tackles or PBU. These guys actually play D and not some savior role this year.

Sweat and Simmons might be too close together. Not to pretend I know but when teams triple one of them, the other can't make a move towards or be pushed towards those four players. They're everything, as expected, and great. The other guys gotta make more plays when they're absorbing so many blockers. Landry and Key had some plays yesterday but there is so much opportunity that they should make more plays. I get whiney when a TE or RB stops their pass rush, for example.

Big Jeff has a Tommy John injury and said he already feels somewhat better and expects to play after the bye.
It seems if you're a fan of baseball you don't believe that to be true.
Idk but I definitely think it's questionable and you IDP folks might need to consider trading him

Harrell had terrible PFF scores for defense and special teams.
It's very much looking like his camp dominance was simply bad tackle play.

That seems very amateurish by the coaching staff and Daddy Callahan was supposed to ensure all sorts of things would never happen and ...I'm just kind of blown away by it

Reports after bye are that he tore his UCL and that's surgery and a year+ recovery for baseball.
Some still have it more of a pain he's going to deal with.

I can not imagine doing his job with a bad elbow. I do not know how OL will take advantage but I assume dirt is done in the trenches. I definitely lack confidence in the Titans gem DL now

Cedric Gray good first wk back, will likely use most if not all of 21-day window to evaluate.

What do we think of his value long term?
Awful right now. There's no spot available.

Their ILBs are playing great. Idk best combo in the NFL but they'll make you consider if they are. The lack of big plays and turnovers would hurt them. The Titans haven't had two sideline to sideline, "they're everywhere" ILBs in...maybe franchise history.

They have heady but slowish former starters for backups in Gibbens and Gifford.

Otis Reese and James Williams are former safeties that make intriguing subs for spots. Williams looked so good this summer. DC singled out Williams this week as someone pressing for time with his performance in practice. Snead loves him which can't hurt his chances either if a veteran talks you up whenever he can.

Gray was naive. He'd have a couple good practices then be called out for not knowing his responsibility or something. That was cyclical all off-season. They're surely hoping that sitting and watching made him learn to focus and be professional. He hasn't even had the chance to react to the speed of the game. He's gotta be done thinking, memorize whatever, then read and react. That's a lot to ask after his spring.

I think he's in the window to be traded. You can't trade an injured player. A lot of predraft folks had him as a kid with a bright future so I'm guessing they think they can recoup their draft pick.

Y'all IDP folks know that the LB market is worse than the RB market. Things can change quickly. Right now though, he's gotta be traded to have some value.

I expect Gifford to be on the Browns by years end. Schwartz and Vrabel really liked him and he's on the Titans PS. If the right Browns ILB gets injured he's going there for his film room contribution as much as his backup play. I'd bet on it if I could.

I don't really foresee movement for Gray to play. Jones took the spot he could have and has been excellent.

The #Titans placed S Jamal Adams on the reserve/non-football injury list. He's out at least four games.

PFF snip-
A fifth-round draft pick out of Louisville, Brownlee has started each of the past two games for the Titans and has thrived in doing so. Targeted 12 times in coverage over the past two weeks, he has allowed just six receptions for a total of 21 yards. He has also recorded five tackles that have resulted in defensive stops.

They have him at 9 for 51 for the year

Jamal Adams was released.
Titans were rumored to be releasing him as he's always hurt and played very little. Suddenly Schefter is saying it's at Adams request and he's fully healthy.
DC said "it just didn't work out."

My guess is he's not owning that he's older now. I remember in game broadcasts where they said he shouldn't do this or can't do that or has to.
I remember people this summer saying maybe he shouldn't be at the line anymore.

My POV is if he accepts he's older and maybe becomes a traditional safety then maybe he can play still. Maybe he can be a part time dime backer role if not.

With DC Wilson loving him and his buddy at one safety spot, other teams are going to look badly on this. Possibly if you can't succeed with them what can we offer that's better? This is some percent of the opposite of guys going to join Aaron Rodgers w NYJ.

I can't get over Snead allowing 3 for 32 and there's so much "bad game" writeups and discussions.
Pittman was clearly hurt and maybe shouldn't be playing but he was all heart on two catches and it was like good for him wow.

How elite is Snead that three catches is a bad game? OMG
I thought we've had good CBs at times but I've never experienced this.

Sweat's knee was just something bugging him he rested. He's good.
Snead is unsure if he'll play. Avery probable replacement.
Coburn is out.
Unnecessary to replace Adams

promote DL Abdullah Anderson to 53-man roster, place WR Treylon Burks on Injured Reserve.

QB Trevor Siemian and DB Gabe Jeudy-Lally will be gameday elevation for Sunday’s game vs

This makes me doubt Sneed plays.

Avery start and GJL sub.
Amari Cooper not knowing the playbook well is a wrinkle here.
McCreary has the slot. Who to put Brownlee on and who do you (new sub) project they throw a lot to and pick on the CB?

Gabe Jeudy Lally is a high effort typical rookie. During camp, any time it looked like they added a second gem rookie, he got burned.

Usual ups n downs. Needs development

Seattle and Tennessee flipped LBs: Jerome Baker to TEN, Ernest Jones to SEA.

At this point TEN is just in a sell, sell, sell mode.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Harold Landry gone soon, too.

Baker will be more than servicable alongside Kenneth Murray.

This was foolish. Should have traded Gray. Jones is only 24 and was playing great.

As of now Baker is speculated to be released.
They have overwhelming depth at ILB but not Jones' caliber. Camp star James Williams is expected to be plugged in with Gray.

We've seen Duncan play bad and the right tackle situation finally finally be settled with Leroy Watson sooo they messed with it and Duncan started and the line looked terrible again. Duncan is a former sixth round pick so my tea leaves and no basis tell me the GM wants his drafted boys playing. 7th round Williams has earned it. Gray has not. I'd look for Gray to get the most opportunity while the GM is in panic mode purely based on draft stock.

Quandre Diggs is rumored to be the next jettisoned player since he's older and his contract expires. No basis just people guessing due to contract.

Snead and Awuzie should be fine according to everyone I asked.

Landry, as you mentioned, in the least will surely be of interest to the few places where former Titans staff members are. Many still have a problem with him not having confidence in other moves besides a speed rush.

Harrell got a sack against Buffalo where Allen rolled pretty near him. Not a gift but close to it. Denard Wilson did recently say they still have very high hopes for him. I'm still stuck on "did he just dominate bad RTs in camp?"

The Titans have been rumored to be making deals with San Fran since Carthon became GM so I expect yet another rumor like that to popup. Idk the supply n demand/need aspect of the Niners

Baker isn't being released and he isn't starting this week.
Williams is to see a significant increase in playing time.
I guess Gibbens and Williams split.
It does seem like they want Baker to get his feet wet so that's a nice mish mash share that I wouldn't want for FF.

I think we'll ultimately find out that their plan is to see if Williams is capable of being a starter in this league. It'll be about figuring out what holes are in the roster and where they're all set. I don't like seasons like this but everything is pointing this way.

Are they going to give Harrell more time in second half of season?
I would guess yes. He hasn't really produced but since the year was about declared a rebuild year, I would expect they want to "push" the development of every young player.

A story came out that Baker visited this off-season and it went well and then he or his agent wanted too much $ and then he was less than professional.
I'm guessing this is why they seem really wishy washy on a player they just added.
In the recent interviews, he was quite happy to be in Nashville so a good attitude seems possible and that'll improve things here.
They obviously weren't completely deterred regardless of what happened

Jeffrey Simmons ridiculous dedication and commitment to play thru a (what degree?) torn UCL may have a different tone now that they're in rebuild mode.

Why play hurt?
Remember it's a long rehab for pitchers (idk for DL) so maybe they decide to get rolling on that timetable.

He's the leader. Having him around is certainly beneficial.

This is me guessing

Jeudy Lally was activated last week and I don't think he got a snap.
He was signed to the active roster. Caleb Murphy was waived.
Brownlee and Sweat questionable in the sincere meaning. Twisted ankle for Brownlee and Sweat just hasn't recovered in usual manner. Getting near rookie wall time for that big bod too.

Coach said they're likely to activate Gray Monday and they had some player moves to make this weekend.
They had an open spot. One to IR, one waived, three added. That didn't leave a spot for Gray.

Baker will not play this week.

Callahan has been the most open and approachable coach probably in NFL history. He does 2-3 hour shows in the off-season and genuinely answers everything.

I think the confusion with Baker and Gray is related to the GM. Others think he's learning/struggling to not share so much and be more typical as a head coach. It's odd no matter what it is.

Not as long as a rehab for non-throwers. The UCL is the stabilizing structure for throwing in order to get the whip you need for velocity. I wouldn't think it would be as big a deal for a DT

So you think a few months in the off-season, nothing too dramatic?

Penei pushed him for a good 5-7 yards twice yesterday. He's far too "violent" with his hands normally for me to think that would have happened if he was healthy. Penei is great, no doubt, but Simmons didn't appear to "fight back."

Gibbens played all game and the middle was again exposed as a soft spot to attack and they were clearly compensating/cheating to help.
It really looks like Ernest Jones was the key to everything. (The young corners are battling ok but clearly not the elite caliber of Awuzie and Snead.) I get more upset each day that a 24 year old was playing very well and traded with a rebuild explanation given.
Otis and James being converted safeties that are intriguing is only useful if they actually use them.
I'm guessing Baker or Gray is replacing Gibbens (at least some) this week and they missed a simple window to do some evaluation.
It's unlikely Williams is the stud he was in preseason but what if he is? This is all a collosal waste of time then. He and Otis have some speed and athleticism to them, as converted safeties do, that I would figure is useful in certain situations and can be schemed.
Vrabel's bend but don't break stuff will make anyone pull their hair out. Wilson is supposed to be more attacking style but they have almost no turnovers and few sacks. I'm not upset with the top D by yards ranking- of course- but I feel like Vrabel still has roots in the coaching and I'm still wishing they'd make a play.

and playing on a team that is terrible with really no shot to win is going to take a toll as well with regards to "fighting back".

Yes, it will zap strength but it is not as critical to D-line play as it is to throwing a baseball. My guess is it will need surgery and will take some months to rehab and get back. Pitchers take the time to get back to throwing full speed. That's not needed here. So I would expect it to be a 6 month injury with surgery.

Titans activated Cedric Gray and cut Abdullah Anderson.

TD called his training camp "injury riddled and dismal."

Not just me with the negativity

I see Sweat is dealing with a hip. He's had foot issues and knee soreness.

I think there's room for debate if sitting him is reasonable because he's huge, he often has 2-3 OL on him, and the rookie wall. I do generally dislike rest and it seems foolish in-season but this might be ok

Any idea what the story is with Jerome Baker last Sunday? The snap count shows him on the field for 100% of defensive plays, yet he did nothing statistically.
