Kyle Phillips?
2022 5th Round pick from UCLA?
Hurt last year at end preseason but showed promise? That kid?

Do they have the cap room now to get DHop if/when he’s cut?

I’d think they have to bring someone else in, someone at least better than Chris Moore. Whether it’s a post-June cut or cheap trade. I don’t even know who Reggie Roberson or Kearis Jackson are LOL.

They did try that route last year with Robert Woods and it failed badly. But I’m not sure if that was more a function of the putrid passing scheme they had, banged up Tannehill playing behind a terrible pass blocking line coupled with an overwhelmed Malik Willis who they refused to even let throw a pass. Hopefully having a new OC helps a little at least.

You know the Titans better than I do, but I think Roberson might not even make the team, let alone start.

I figure its Burks and NWI starting and Phillips in the slot.

They should really dip into the FA market for a vet. Maybe Jarvis Landry?

ETA: Wonder if they try Willis out there?

Nope, I think it'll be around 6 mil for the remainder of moves.
They asked Kevin Byard to take a paycut but he refused. No idea of the discussion since, but he did not show up to voluntary workouts/minicamp whatever the recent ones were called. Many thought that was a prelude to Byard being traded during the draft but since he wasn't I gotta wonder what's up with him.
They'd be fools to trade a top safety as they clearly have few playmakers period, but...never know with a new GM

Roberson was a shocking cut after last camp. The college star that was injured and finally recovered most of the way- he looked the part and had a TD every day for like the first eight to ten days of camp. Racey started camp well (and starting) but struggled with the routes n concepts, then struggled in preseason. Roberson got some chances in practice and did well. It was a real surprise development and then that he was cut.

NWI was not re-signed. He didn't play very well and it was said during one game that Vrabel considers him a slot WR, said he's comfortable in the slot and out of sorts outside. Then he was re-signed. He definitely went from impressing and improving to something negative late last year.

Phillips was outstanding in camp and then I think week one; they needed a win and to march down the field. They literally threw every pass to him then kicked a field goal. He's sooo much like Welker. Those that haven't seen him always think it's an exaggeration til ya see it. Anywho, the concern is he can't take a hit and will bust- but if he stays healthy I'd guess near 1000 yards if you think it's on 6 catch 66 yards per game. Nothing glamorous. No 120 yard two TD day. Really methodical, predictable slot numbers from ten years ago.

Burks is the unquestioned number one but he's still not necessarily an NFL #1 WR that can handle top corners. He flashed a few times n all, but there isn't like 100 yard games, TD streaks, or anything glowing about him yet.

The Titans play 2 and 3 TE a lot and learned late that they like to put Chig out wide sometimes. That third WR spot is a real low snap low volume role. NWI doesn't really have much big play ability and Roberson does. I think he'll edge out NWI.

Kearis Jackson seems to have some love on the web. Good solid fine WR. No one considering him elite, but yeah he could fill a roster spot.

Their 7th round pick is a wildcard. He's from UT Martin, played four unimpressive/poor years then in year five and six everything clicked. Yep he's older but does anyone really care about the age in this desperation to get wide receivers moment? Supposedly he was their highest targeted UDFA and they exhausted their board so he was the 7th.

I do expect a trade or signing- this can't be, right? Welp but it's been this way all offseason so it's starting to look bleak.

Landry lost a step and I'm pretty sure he's done.

I'm hoping they sign Sal Canella TE in the XFL. Supposedly he turned down the Broncos and the Packers twice already. He told a story of broken promises and doesn't really care for Lafleur BUT as a former Titans OC, a guy that apparently really wants Canella back....maybe that catches the Titans eye. Chig is really questionable blocking in line and they could really use a TE that can both block and catch well.

Bump Chig?
People have him rated pretty high already. Tight ends don't generally have his breakaway ability so he's always going to have a high questionable ceiling.

He must must must learn to block in-line very well. They are not strong on the OL and maybe have capable replacements but not to help him. He's gotta handle his own. They've got him willing with high effort but mistakes, so it is quite possible he does improve. Once he's done this, opportunity is so plentiful for him. If not, well they'll move him around and get him in but it's not the same at all.

Is this group worse than Bears and Giants from 2022?
Take out Burks and 2-6 is as bad as I can recall.

Burks is a different level prospect and player than anyone on the bears, so I'd still take the titans this year over what the bears started with last year. He had some unfortunately timed injuries (to him and then to the Tannehill) but he looked the part when on the field and not catching passes from a RB.
I'm probably just taking Burks and Chig at or above adp and ignoring the rest. Maybe spears gets some receiving action too and has some standalone value. Phillips looked good early last year, but I don't know that Adam Humphries Jr. slot specialist is a guy I want to target on a Vrabel team that can't get enough TEs on the field.

Bump Chig?
Yeah, I guess. Maybe avoid this entire offense though. Yuck.
I think this is actually more likely to be an offense that exceeds expectations than anything else. Especially with 6 games against the Texans, Colts, and Jags.

I wouldn't be avoiding Henry or Chig at the very least.
Seems like a candidate for an "Eliminate the Suck" style strategy and I could see this situation falling apart quickly. Does Henry stay on the roster through the trade deadline?

It is always about price though. Burks and Chig both impressed me as rookies, I just have no confidence they will have a good QB to get them the ball.

Jacob Copeland should be added here. I've read some overly positive things that his stats don't back up but....I need the positive vibes

Kearis Jackson was NOT on the official UDFA signing list. Hmmm

One scout recently said that Colton Dowell was the best WR at Tennessee pro day. Maybe there's hope?

Kearis Jackson was present but didn't practice. Vrabel said some stuff needs to be worked through. Contract? Injury? Idk it was vague

Because of the inexperienced (pathetic? dedication?) group, most of the WRs were at rookie minicamp today.

Dowell wiped out early and it seems like that was a blessing for his nerves or somesuch because everyone mentioned how well he did after.

Spears was with the backs and receivers.

Roberson did well...told ya so.

The bar has to be set high for all these no-names to overcome. If player X is going to contribute meaningfully, then he'd better do well at rookie minicamp, then veteran minicamp on and on.
The real problem could very well be how many do not stand out and what that means for camp.
They need like 4-5 from this group for camp with 1-3 making the roster.

Trading for a receiver has been shot down from several reporters leading up to today as- they already don't have all their picks next year, why give up another?

Any chance Kyle Phillips develops? I liked that one half of a game he had against the Giants last season... :(

Would you give a reasonable pick for Nuk?
Trading for older receivers hasn’t gone well lately.

That is also my hope. I saw a nice flash & he had good film, but the injury really put a damper on his 2022 season. The only reports I saw earlier (pre-combine) was positive on his expectations and how the staff was looking forward to him getting back on the field.
I targeted him as low ball flyer in Feb (late 5th)

No because they already don't have all their picks next year.
I think we could see Tannehill for a WR at some point because I think Ran wants his coach just like JRob did and that a couple more moves would assure a down season.

I do notice everyone was on the Colts bandwagon last year, two gems got hurt and QB stunk, and it's a little weird they have such low expectations now. I think they're pretty solid til the rookie develops or Taylor's wheels fall off.

Roberson with the ones, not NWI....in a few videos, it's all I've got and I'm anxious, huge grain of salt

I was looking up Zay Jones stats in college and with the bills (more as a Rashee Rice discussion) and was struck that the bills wr corpse for rookie josh Allen was even worse than what the titans have.

2nd year Zay Jones, udfa rookie Robert Foster, and Isaiah McKenzie were the top 3 WRs. Woof!

I watched Zay Jones at ECU (son attended) and he was so dynamic compared to DB/LB lumbering oofs it was sad. But in NFL, Def skill was on par with his and he had no moves they did not see/counter
I admit I spent a higher pick than I care to mention (or remember really), but he has so far not proven to have what it takes in NFL to impact offenses more than a spot here or there all year

It's a word I sometimes start to type, and then just find a synonym because I don't remember which one means a dead body and which one means a group of people engaged in a similar activity. I was too lazy to check OR find a synonym this time 😁

Kearis Jackson stayed and caught with the some veterans yesterday.
Racey said he's running with second and third string and special teams so Roberson and NWI are still above him.
Zero news on the other wide receivers.

Will the Titans even throw the ball this season?
On 1st and 2nd Down?
Really?

I think in Redraft you are making a huge mistake hitching your wagon to any part of the Titans passing game

Roberson ran w second and third string.
Dowell third.
Roberson two TDs and a supposed "heady" play running towards and catching a batted ball.
Byard called Burks a different beast this year.

NWI issues getting open against Fulton. Roberson waived off like they wanted it to continue and NWI to learn n success, but he didn't.

Dowell had 2-3 drops and the throws were questionable but he got his hands on it so...

Reporter retracted this saying Fulton wasn't practicing so I'm kind of huh? Here

Chig playing a lot of WR snaps discussed in his thread.
Kearis and Roberson are clearly the next up.
No indication Kearis plays ST which will be a grave mistake if that doesn't change. After top three it's mandatory.
Roberson returning kicks and/or punts and coverage this year.

Dowell has had moments and is getting attention but the quotes make him seem very much like a late round pick and not a 2023 contributor.
Racey not even mentioned with first string as spring went on.
Almost nothing on the other UDFAs. Oregon WR had a couple TDs and that was the only mention. That's not enough for a month or two of work.
Kinsey almost never mentioned.

London and Kelly asked for Roberson so "new blood" wasn't type casting him as a backup but giving him more of a chance this year. He edged NWI clearly one day but most have them neck n neck tied for a spot. Roberson has big play ability. NWI is smart and experienced.
The biggest thing for Kearis is appearing as one of the boys. Staying late with first stringers, IG pics of him out with them etc. Those little things matter maybe 1 percent but it's an edge over the depth WRs that don't.

I think the mirror image of last summer is a grave concern.

Burks is not yet "rely on me" good, Phillips is still an injury worry and NWI makes ya wish there was better depth.

I expect minor trade(s) if Hopkins isn't signed. Whatever notions or concepts they had have been hashed out and....time to go get at least one.

I've long wanted Ezukanma who is likely easily available from the Fins. Someone like that. Young. Can play now. Still development and hope but can play now.

Jujaun Jennings was a common off-season suggestion once Ran became GM but the 49ers very much want the guy and consider him a valuable backup.
Still, I think these two are a good example of the type the go after if they don't get Hopkins.

Still about the same prediction and pathetic. Just threw Chig in there.
There hasn't been a spark other than occasionally Roberson all spring and there absolutely should be articles and tweets of WRs making plays.
Don't forget most of spring was against a second string secondary too so that really paints a bad group here
