Damn deathclaws on the walk to New Vegas. Killed me 6 times before i got through. Made it to Fort McCarron. First guy i talked to was the Sargent with the bounties. Did them. Got lucky and nabbed 2 at the same time. Did the gold club guy last. He was the suck. But i have his club now.
I did all the bounties and I expected him to be really hard he was actually easier than the dog lady. Did you get the snipers from the Fort involved? He was half dead before I could even get a clean shot.
No did it myself. ..... With Boone and ede
I had Ed-E and got the snipers from the Fort. I think I only got in two shots and it was over. Heck the guys I had to kill to get to him seemed harder. But then the snipers didn't start until he showed himself.

If the old NCR ranger from the sniper team gets "accidentally" killed he has a unique weapon...

I just figured it was overkill since I had Boone and Ed-E.

Meanwhile I have discovered the places right outside Vegas I think. So I'm getting close to the city. The main quest is telling me that I have to go confront the guy in one of the casinos so I guess I'm heading there. I still haven't touched the DLC's and I am at level 14 at the moment and the warnings on them keep saying you should be in the 20's so I've held off - and I don't want to loose my sidekicks yet either.

Funny note on the Deathclaw area by the cement mines or whatever they are. Deathclaws everywhere. Not kidding I died 6 times or so. Maybe more. Boone and Ed-E got knocked out quite a few times. When I finally figured out the method the Deathclaws used to attack on my final run I managed to get them to come after us one or two at a time which was a big difference. And then in the middle, Legion Assassins come after us. So what happens? Deathclaw goes after them and does the work for me. I felt bad throwing the final frag grenade into the area that stood a Deathclaw and a soon to be dead Assassin, but when they all blew up together it was entertaining.

You got to like that.

Deathclaw follower would be pretty awesome.
I just had to check... but of course there is a mod for that if you're on PC!
Of course. It is the one huge advantage PCs have. I wish they would find a way to allow mods for console games. I would love to try some of the stuff I see on YouTube.
Ghoul Moira selling her ### for caps?
I hadn't seen that one. But probably not. Although she is probably a naughty little minx.

Ed-E is a coward. Went to attack some Legion folks and he gets "stuck" in some rocks - halfway out like he's peering over the top. Went with Boone and discovered when I asked him to "wait" at the top of the hill, the legion was no longer red enemy marks on my compass. Sneak down, rescue two captives, sneak back, ask Boone to follow me again, and the camp goes back to red. They were grouped, so the grenade launcher came in handy. All dead and look who shows up, Ed-E.

Love playing hardcore but you definitely don't need survival skills for it. Although I'm having fun at the campfires, the biggest things I need are Dr Bags and Weapon Repair Kits, and you only need Med and Repair skills for those. It's fun keeping an eye on food, drink, & sleep - radiation isn't really an issue - but limb damage is a b####. You get to know where the doctors are and they now play a role in the game.
Sounds like maybe the Legion doesnt hate you yet. Do they send deathsquads after you? Boone (for obvious reasons) will attack and be attacked by the Legion on sight.
Oh they hate me now. I was just surprised that it switched back and forth by putting Boone in a Wait Here state - he was still my follower.

Speaking of unique weapons... if you want the Terrible Shotgun from Smiling Jack in Evergreen Mills, but want to keep him alive as a merchant... you can steal his shotgun ammo, then reverse pickpocket a weapon and appropriate ammo for it onto him.

Leave and come back later and he'll have unequipped the shotgun since he's out of ammo, and equip the gun you gave him. Then you can steal or buy the shotgun.

Frankly I didn't care for it. It did more damage but condition deteriorated much too quickly.

Dangnabit. Found the traitor at mccarron. Interrogated the prisoner and passed that. Have to start collecting tin cans for the gun runners. . That should be fun.

Decide to hit the strip for some casino action. Go to Gomorrah. Win 4 grand St roulette abs the pitt boss kicks me off the table. I was on a roll too.

Am i blacklisted in there now?

I knew you could be banned from the casinos, but thought it was a higher $$ level before that happened.
I did some reading and you can be banned.... don't know if I like that but I get the realism in some respects. I don't think I was banned based on the comments online. It appears the pit bosses come to you in intervals and I hit one of those intervals. I will admit. When I saw the pit boss turn red in the pip boy I started baking away slowly since I didn't have any weapons. But he never did anything and I cashed out and left. So I was being too safety oriented in that respect.

I was killing the roulette wheel though. It was a thing of beauty. I wish I had the disposable cash to play that way in real life because I'd have to suffer some big losses to get the massive wins my "system" pays for. (Yeah, yeah, I know - system at the wheel, ha ha you loser, but I'm telling you it works if you can withstand a long string of losses - although again, I guess you could say that for anything at a table.)

I think the gambling aspects are what I least care for in NV. I don't mind it but I anyway end up so loaded that why spend the time playing pretend roulette when there are fiends and legion troops to kill and loot?

The gambling games are heavily impacted by your Luck score. Like with a high Luck playing Blackjack, you can draw on a 19 or 20 and still win a ridiculous amount of the time.

I stole the ley from Mortimer and got him back to his dad. I read how there are like a billion different ways to do it.

I still may go back and kill them. Mortimer first.

I am all over the place in the game.

Got to the strip, had sex with Benny, and killed him in his sleep. :bag:

Not sure what to do about any of the many missions that popped up on the strip - mainly the choices with House and the factions.

My choice of increasing my barter and repair has worked for the most part. I also have my lockpick up to 100 I think, so I have a lot of unique weapons, a lot of them I can't use quite yet. Have the Matter Modulator, Maria, Lucky, Annabelle, That Gun, and my favorite I can't use for a bit - the Gobi Campaign Sniper Rifle. I am thinking about buying the Two Step or something from the guy in Novac. I think I am at level 14. My repair is 75 or 80, barter is about the same, lockpick is 100. Bumped my strength to 6, and might have to go one or two higher for a couple weapons. I made a bad choice last level up, so next two I will pump a little more into repair still to get the jury rigging perk at 16. Bad part is I suck in combat at the moment. I think my guns is just over 50 finally, but sneak is about 20, and I think explosives and energy weapons are in single digits. I guess I have a ton more levels to get those up. Currently at 23000 caps, I think.

Tried gambling a little before heading to meet Benny. I think my luck is 7 or 8. Won a little at blackjack (maybe 800 caps), but the slot machine ate about 1500 in a short amount of time. Do the craps tables ever open up?

Killed a mountain of Fiends, and took out all of the Great Khans.

Was going back through and searching in markers that I quickly went past and located on the map. I figured something as hard to get through as Camp Searchlight would have some great loot. Damn near irradiated myself to death running through there and looking in a couple buildings, but didn't find much of anything besides the ghoul troopers running around.

The fiends are my kind of bad guys. Decent loot. Not so easy that you can just stroll in to camp but not so tough like legion that you need to restart.

Figured out why Ed-E was just watching the last few shootouts - I accidentally clicked him on melee mode when I last checked his inventory

Had to leave Boone in Novac for a while. He was attracting too many death squads. Without him, I'm still disliked by legion but have only had a single death squad.

No idea abut the craps tables but have the same experience with blackjack and slots.

I have That Gun but have never used it. Does it come in handy for anything in particular? I don't get it's purpose.

Killed House. Opened the security door before talking to him and got attacked by his bots so I ended them and then punished him for it. Yes Man is in that system now.

But if I work with him the NCR gets mad? Why? This screw up my plan to be an NCR lackey. So i figure let me to the ED-E mission. Find the bunker. Guy takes him... i better get him back. The traitor guy asks me to help him take over. I kill the computer virus in the dataroom. Then I take part in a soap opera trying to find stuff for Hardin to take over. After all that I have to do the missions the head guy asked me to anyway? Cmon.

Very tedious night. The BoS bunker feels like mothership zeta.

I guess if you tell a follower to "Wait Here" eventually they'll say screw it and come find you. I was going through a vault with just Ed-E, and hit a dead end and turned around. Boone is standing right there. I had to stifle a scream. I thought I'd triggered something and he was going to start a dialogue or a quest or something. So we stood there looking at each for a good 20 seconds. Awkward. Anyway, good to have the gang together without having to travel all the way back to have him follow me. The legion ambushes picked right back up - but now I'm a little stronger and a little quicker on the grenade launcher.

Bought what looked like a toy gun from a boy in Freeside - but it's listed in weapons, not misc. Looking forward to seeing what it does. Wasted way too much time at blackjack tonight.

You need to complete another request so the gun becomes useable. It's not so much a gun as a

laser designator
.

Oh yes, you will definitely like what the toy gun does! :-)

The strip is a disappointment. Several quests I'm not really interested in. No sense of scrounging/surviving/exploring. Can't even take weapons into casinos. I'm just walking around clicking through dialogue and following arrows.

Taking the crew out to deathclaw country. Need to kill/steal some decent armor for Boone. If you give him legion armor he drops it and stands there in his underwear lol.

Went to covington to search for Mr. HOUSE'S stash like yes man asked me to. Boone tells me we are at a legion slave base and he was going to kill everything he saw. I was Ok with that and we did. Hard as hell. Most fun pure shooting type mission in the game.

After I kill everyone I failed like 10 quests. I'm guessing those would be the quests that the legion would give me if I was their friend?

I freed the slaves but they got taken out by a sniper that Boone and I missed. Oh well.

Also did the black hill mission for the supermutant. Fixed the robot for the head mutant so won that fairly easily and I got annabel from the sniper.

Make some progress. I think the game rod me now that the legion only exists to behead me now.

I've been to a couple of camps where Boone did this. I really like how his dialogue is different each time though.

Apparently Boone slowly regens his ammo - and can't/doesn't use any you give him. Nothing like hearing a matter of fact "I'm out of ammo" in the middle of a legion ambush.

He also doesn't use anti-venom he's holding even if he's standing there dying of cazador poison "so this is how it ends" I directed him to take his stimpacks and I guess the poison wore off when he was down to 1 bar left.

I've found Boone to be absolute murder on LMG and the Anti-Materiel rifle, but he really, really burns through the ammo. On his Sniper rifle he almost never runs dry.

feeling tough last night and I decided to storm the cove where the legion is and see about clearing the quarry of death claws.

the cove I could have done by myself. only have about 55 gun rating, but still was able to snipe most with my trusty Gobi rifle. died a couple times as several legion guys came at me from the tents.

NO WAY could I have gone in the quarry alone. for the most part, I was able to snipe at one, have it come at us alone and take it out. only once did more than one charge at us. the alpha male is a badass. I died several times trying to take out mommy. where I was, I couldn't get a decent shot before she sprinted up the side for a one swipe kill.

for my trouble? a little cash and a "job well done" from the poor ### guys from Sloan.

Really like the Jury Rigging perk, but you have to be super careful. very easy to fix a varmint rifle with a battle rifle and lose a nice gun.

Didn't realize that to get to the hidden 38 but kernel I had to go through the legion. So Boone and ede and I decided to end ceasars rule. With prejudice. I own his armor now. Amongst just a rap ton of weapons and ammo. I have more weapons now than I did at the end of FO3.

So ceasars dead. Any chance the legion just goes away?

Oh I uploaded the update to the securitrons for use later.

Haven't been able to play much lately, but was able to clear out Vault 92 yesterday and retrieve Agatha's Soiled Stradivarius for her. I also invested the max money with the Canterbury vendors, and found that I could suddenly get anything I owned repaired, including the droid's rifle - I hadn't been to any other vendors so far who could repair it. I'm still wandering around adding locations to my map, and was heading to Arefu last night before I quit when I got bum-rushed by a group of mutant brutes or something like that right before I got to Arefu. I think it was a cemetery or something - I saw that I had discovered somewhere but saved and quit without checking out what had been added to my map. I need to get more time in tomorrow night - I'm a bunch of hours into this and it's showing no signs of boredom. Then it's on to New Vegas so I can experience some of the stuff you guys have been talking about!

Moonbeam drive in, I think. Close to Big Town? Plenty of muties if you like them apples... :D

isn't there also a cemetery by big town and germantown police with a bunch of baddies?

Yes. On the other side of the river from Big Town and Arefu. Coming out of Agatha's that might be a more likely place. Meresti train yards are close as well, but don't think I've ever run into muties there. And there's that broken down church in the middle of nowhere around there also

Played some Fallout 1 this weekend for a bit. Forgot how f'n hard the beginning of this game is. You are barely getting by for quite a while and no autosave.

I went to Meresti train yards from Agatha's and was headed West towards Arefu when I ran into them, and it was right by the broken down church, on a road just below it. There were a couple of Centaurs with them as well. For three big dudes, I got very little in the way of loot off their bodies after I was done mopping them up. <_<

There's some in the church.

If you didn't do the Big Town quests that might be interesting - lots of muties!

So I catch up with Benny and his Sinatra Vegas slang is cracking me up. I decide what the heck I'll cut a deal with him even though he tried to kill me and most of the dialogue options had me fighting him, I'll see what happens. He leaves and my next quest is "Survive the ambush" and I'm standing there like an idiot thinking  I have no plans to ambush anyone. I'm like Joe Pesci when he thinks he's going to be made in Goodfellas and goes "Oh ... no" LOL.

No idea how it's going to impact the game but I'm siding with the Tops and ignoring Gomorrah (although I like the strippers) and Ultra Lux (creepy all around)

Nice. I killed benny. Moron he was.

I just did all the Nellis missions. The have pledged their support for the final battle. I have them and I upgraded the robots. Do I really need anyone else?

You don't need anyone. But some of the missions are fun.

Have I mentioned that I hate vaults?

Go into Vault 34 last night. Proceed to spend about the next hour getting lost, heavily irradiated, and attacked by a #### ton of ghouls. Still not sure if there is anything of use in there (maybe it's triggered on a quest that I haven't gotten yet?). I didn't realized that it was so irradiated, and only had 2 packs to reduce radiation on me. Lucky stumbled on a bunch in a med kit, and after wandering around and getting lost again, I still barely made it out of there before my rads maxed out.

Thankfully before that annoyance, I was able to have some fun clearing out the Deathclaws in the trainyard near the entrance to Vault 34.

Did some work last night. I had finished all the Nellis missions but I didn't find Jack's red head. So I did that. That was fricken tedious. I figured I would get to kill someone or she would be some kind of spy. Oh well. Boomers love me even more now.

After that was done I did a few missions for the Crimson Caravan. Haven't done the gun runners factory yet for them though. Didn't have an invisibility cloak on me (I know that's not the name, but it's funny). Since I couldn't do that and I was in good with the Caravan and the Boomers love me I decided to advance the main quest. Go to Yes Man, tell him the Boomers love me and he is happy. I told him to ignore everyone else. Don't know if that was good or not. I figured that if I told him that some were enemies I wouldn't have the pleasure of killing all of them later in the game after the main quest was complete.

Got the mission to protect the President so I went to the dam. For no reason that is smart, it took me forever to figure out how to get there. And I have the explorer perk (by the way, oh holy hell is the FO3 on acid with the locations). Get there. Talk to the major in charge. I figured they wouldn't talk to me because I helped Yes Man and the game said they wouldn't anymore, but they did. I guess my rank with the NCR was high enough. He tells me to do a security sweep. I hack the computer and find out that there is a phony login somehow. The game prompted me to keep an eye on the sniper tower.

So I go outside as the President is on his way and I thought the sniper tower was the one on top of the building I'm in, so I go up there and nothing. Oh well. Go back, tell the major that I am good and the President lands. As he starts talking I go back to the same spot where his chopper lands, and find the bomb and disarm it. I tell the major and he says the President has to get out of there. I thought I'm done. Then I see a guy running towards the stage so I go follow him. It's just a regular NCR guard though and as I get to the stage a shot rings out. I follow the President up to his chopper and he gets out of there. So I think I did good.

I don't remember if the game told me the mission is done but I'm worried it isn't because the music is still the intense something bad is going to happen music - and the NCR guys are all crowched on their knees like they are waiting for income fire. I walk around outside and see the dead guard on the ground from the tower behind the stage. Go into that tower and up to the top and that is the real sniper area. There is a dead guy there too. I go back to talk to the major and he won't talk to me. I'm thinking I am missing something to clear this mission but I can't figure out what. I walked around most of the dam even the underground offices and really don't know what to do.

Do I have to find the sniper before the mission ends? If so, where does he run off too after taking that shot and missing?

Oh there's goodies alright. They are ridiculously hard to get to though. It might help if you've done the volare mission
