TO to have another MRI (1 Viewer)

So TO is going to have another MRI. Looks like the Big Tuna needs to back off and let the guy heal.

Cowboys: Owens needs another MRI

The News

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Monday night that receiver Terrell Owens may have another MRI exam taken to see why his hamstring continues to bother him after weeks of treatment. "Certainly it is sore and he is going to be working to improve that," Jones told the Associated Press during halftime of Dallas' preseason game. "We will be evaluating it more tomorrow." The hamstring has bothered Owens since training camp opened. He missed the first preseason game, then returned to practice last week, but coach Bill Parcells would not clear him to play.

Our View

Up to this point we have not considered this injury anything major, but if Owens does indeed need another MRI we will be concerned. Terrell has been very limited in practices and is already becoming a thorn in head coach Bill Parcells' side. We will watch this closely, but we fear that all of the media scrutiny surrounding this story will take it's toll. While Owens remains an elite wide receiver, his value is affected with each practice he misses.

What if Owens actually has a significant injury?

This is like the old fable about "the boy who cried wolf" - we just assume TO is putting on an act.

He has been an attention hog in the past. He has been a child. I don't really remember him faking injuries though. I didn't agree with him coming out in the Lance Armstrong outfit. He was asking for attention on that day. Other than that the media has blown this whole thing into more than it should be. Why isn't the media hounding Steve Smith or Hines Ward. They have both missed practice due to a similar injury. Why aren't their coaches hounding them to get back on the field as it has been reported The Big Tuna has been with TO?

IIRC the issue was not with TO faking the injury but with people not believing him about his outburst involving him being hurt still.

Ok, so the first MRI showed no injury, so now they'll take another one to see if there's improvement? :loco:

They aren't taking it to see if there's improvement. They are taking it to see why it hasn't responded to a few weeks of treatment.
Ok, but TO isn't complaining about it getting worse, just about it not getting better. What good is an MRI going to do in that situation when the first one didn't spot a problem to begin with?

Maybe they feel they missed something?

Veteran player not wanting to practice or risk injury preseason? Some guys might even fake retirement to get out of practice.

I have him on one of my FF teams and honestly ? I'm not worried until game 1. If TO is a non-impact first game of the year, if he doesn't play a lot and produce THEN I'll start worrying.

They aren't paying him big $$$$$$$$ to it the bench

Just another reason why Steve Smith is the premeir WR in the game...has hammies heal and he's not a big ####.

Smith rode a stationary bike and did agility drills on the side of the field as the team practiced. He was injured on July 29, the first day of camp. "It's day-to-day. It's the same it's been," HC John Fox said. "We'll evaluate it one day at a time."
oh yeah, night and day from T.O.

Well he don't need no stinkin' mri. :P If you saw the tape they showed during the game, he's good to go. Fox closed up shop two days early as a reward for the solid performance in the first two pre-season games.

Will somebody please show me where TO's not been a team player as far as practicing or playing games? I've never heard anything other that what a complete gamer he is

On being a complete jerk and idiot, we all agree TO takes the cake. As far as giving his all for the game, though, I've yet to see him let anyone down, especially his teammates. This whole Parcells thing is a facade trumped up by the media. If it's game time and they count, expect TO to be there, collecting his seven catches for 120 yards and 1-2 TD's. Right, wrong, whatever, the one thing you can count on is TO being in the game if it's at all possible

Yes - TO owner for four years now  Start the hate :bye:

after he played basketball in USBL, people incorrectly thought he was faking a back injury to get a break from minicamp

He has had a reputation as a player who misses a ton of practice time. IIRC he missed ~~~ 75% of practices "nursing" his, at the time chronic (which seemed to get a lot better once he left the Bay Area), groin injury during the last 2 seasons that was in S.F.

There are a LOT of reasons to criticize TO and his impact on a team, but he's not a guy that's ever sandbagged it or made up injuries to get out of practice. When it comes to his craft, practicing, staying fit and on-the-field, I don't think there's a better talent in the game at his position. So while the stuff like the Lance Armstrong jersey and the big smile as he sits on a bike for 10 days might have been a bit much, at no point have I questioned that he's got a legitimate injury. I think Parcells problem is that he thought otherwise. The one thing Jones and Parcells can't do is "disrespect" TO, particularly to the media. That will be the point of no return.

In SF , he had been known to dog it on the field during games in the second half , if they were losing , or if the balls wern't coming his way . Especially when Garcia was QB ,and he would dog Garcia's passes to make Garcia look bad . I've heard the same in Philly . Having outbursts against your coaches , or QB's during a game isn't being a team player either . TO is a nutcase , and his outbursts seem more like episodes of Mania than just plain anger . When he first came into the League , he was quiet , humble and shy , a wallflower . But a switch went off in his head , and he can't turn it off . He was let go in SF , snubbed Baltimore , and got canned in Philly . Sure he seems a little more contrite now in front of the press , but not in his book that just came out . It's just a matter of time before another blow-up occurs , and both Parcells and Jones are walking on egg shells at this moment . TO has a pattern of behavior that borders on mental illness , and I haven't heard anything that reports of he addressing that , for obvious reasons .
