Just heard on WEEI in the Boston area that sources confirmed Tom Brady has a broken bone in his right foot. It is not related to the injury he had in the Super Bowl last year, and is reportedly somewhat minor. It occured mid August and should take about 4 weeks to heal fully. He is planning on playing Sunday.

"an MRI people familiar with that memorize said Thursday cracked bone. In Tom Brady's foot -- slightly cracked me be a hairline crack maybe the difference between Carolina and stress fracture or whatever the case may be. He's going to play through it he is playing through he's practicing through it this is the reason we haven't seen him in games they can control practices they can have him do what they need him to do but not have anything unscheduled happened during practice again. Everybody involved in the story is saying that Thomas playing through it and unless something happens between now and Sunday Tom Brady will be your starting quarterback. Against the -- Sunday -- shall we don't. Know how this happened correct that's in the states"...

Thanks for the link FFadv. Hopefully this isn't too bad.

haha...that's just how the 'eei transcripts come out.

maybe it really is voice to print software like the one guy mentioned.

I'm going to listen to the audio right now.

plz change thread title to 'Thomas Brady brickle bone in hind foot'

That was some text output produced somehow from the radio station audio that I linked where they discuss the injury. I doubt anyone typed it with all the typos, but don't get hung up on that when the information is what is really important. I just posted the text for a quick bit of info, but the link for more detailed info if you have the time to listen to the audio.

If true why isn't it on ESPN, Sportsline, Roto , and everywhere else?

With no real sources why is this thread still here?

It's interesting to listen to. Effectively this is speculation on their part, and it sounds like "Part I" of a two part story that Mort mentioned on ESPN 7-10 days ago, which was that, in Part I of the story, the Patriots were in a panic because a preliminary test had led them to the conclusion that Brady had a stress fracture, whereas in Part II of the story, the Patriots had had another(?) MRI done, and it turned out to (only) be a bone bruise, which according to Mort, the Patriots were ecstatic about for obvious (Matt Cassel) reasons. This has definitely caught my eye as I was going to take Brady with the 4th pick in my draft tonight (irritating media fodder).

WEEI has a lot of yahoos as hosts, but I think you can consider it a "real source." I was listening and heard the report this morning as well.
 yup.the discussion on WEEI talked about the break being a small bone or small hairline fracture in the foot. The kind that would take 4 - 6 weeks to heal. Brady's MRI was done in early AUG. so the speculation was the he'd be 100% healthy but mid Sept.Noone believes he will miss any time.He may be playing with a sore foot for the first 2 or 3 weeks though and hopefully he doesn't re injure it during that time.

Sometimes news breaks legitimately elsewhere outside of ESPN.

I don't at all blame folks for wanting to verify the news, and the same goes for news agencies before they report stories. John Dennis made reference to John Tomase of the Boston Herald and the false allegations about Matt Walsh taping the Rams walkthrough before he relayed this information, saying "I don't want to pull a Tomase".

This is an FYI from what I consider a reliable source. They have Brady on weekly and he broke the news last week that his current injury is on the same 'side of the body' and on his leg but not related to the Super Bowl injury.

Any ways, we all know news out of the Patriots is tough to gather, but hopefully there will be some verification soon. I'll post it when/if I see it.

lol they said even josh mcdaniels doesn't know the nature of the injury.

"the circle of four" --- love it!

trying to read this too fast can result in madness

 ETA: Count down for someone to post that the injury is nothing.... oh wait that's already been done. Happened in August, he's ready to play, blah blah blah. Some 1st round drafters of Brady are going to be very disappointed.

I'm having Mike Reiss look into it. He didn't think it was nothing.

So....he thought it was something...?
He thought it was worth investigating. He and I have been going back and forth on some of the Brady stuff the last few weeks and this is another piece to the puzzle. He'll dig around and see what he can come up with.By all accounts Brady will be playing no matter what his mystery foot injury is, but it would be nice to know what his official diagnosis is.

As I mentioned, I thought this was answered by Mort last week, referencing bone bruise not fracture/broken bone. Perhaps another (!) Mort retraction will be required; we'll see...

I don't understand. You are having Mike Reiss look into it? Are you his boss?

I say this is BS and would not look into it to much, Brady is the man and one broken bone isnt gonna stop him from torching the chiefs this weekend.

Probably Belicheck having fun with the media.

I don't believe anything because usually the media is wrong about NE. I don't care if it's Mike Reiss, Bob Ryan, Wendi Nix, Pat Summerall, Merrill Hoge, John Tomase, or Laura Raposa. It's almost always speculation and none of them are as connected as they would like to portray. Some of the media has better standing relationships but they are all lied to and it's part of the game to the Pats organization.

Yeah, Reiss reports directly to me. :( How about he found it very interesting and he will look into it. Had I specifically asked him to look into it he would have, but he wanted to on his own.

Hope that clears things up . . .

I personally have found that some of the Boston media know more than they are able to report. However, they are hesitent to say things publically that would get a stonewall denial from the team, so they can't print things that are not supported by an official source (well, at least some of them work that way).I get very skeptical about what the Hearald has to say, as they generally want to jump out front and report something and then try to confirm it later instead of vice versa (see Rams walkthrough tape as EXHIBIT A).

from the news blogger:

"If it's up to me, there's no question" Brady said Monday. "I've been getting progressively better over the past couple of weeks. I'm excited. I'm excited to start the year."The secretive Belichick deflected a question about whether last season's NFL MVP would start Sunday."We will give you the injury report on Friday," he told reporters Monday. "We will give you the practice report after we practice."Brady didn't want to anger a coach who tells his players not to reveal too much injury information. So he wouldn't estimate how close to 100 percent he was health-wise."I don't know," Brady said with a smile. "Coach hates percentages, so I usually don't give them. I have been yelled at more times with comments I make so I am laying off that one. Write that, so he reads that, too."

yeah, I just heard them relay that to belichick -- haha...that cracked me up.then they jokingly asked beli to put a # on it and he said brady would know that better than he would.

Thanks David. I've been beating the drum on this for the past few weeks since there seemed to be more going on than what was being reported. Seemed weird that there was a TON of coverage on Manning with lots of speculation that he'd miss time, but virtually nothing on Brady. I think most posters (and experts) kind of blew the whole thing off. I still don't know that it's a big deal, but it's enough for me to be a bit concerned. It's one of the reasons that I didn't end up with Brady in any of my 4 leagues. No way was I willing to take any kind of question mark like that with my first pick. It may very well still pan out for guys, but this whole thing seemed fishy from the beginning to me. Sounds like he's going to play, but you have to wonder if it will have some affect on how well he plays.

This is either a quick translation from a Japanese news service or this is spam. Almost none of this makes any sense at all.

Dude, Yudkin is THE man for Patriot information. Stand down.

I know who DY is. I was just giving him a hard time.

 This has been common knowledge around here for weeks.

Just sayin... no news was "broke" last week :lmao:
