i think he is overrated as well. he could not get it done in TB, Grundy won a SB with Dungy's players. There is a reason Indy has won 10+ games and made the playoffs all these years, Manning

I think the mark of a truly great manager (regardless of profession) is how well that organization succeeds AFTER the person leaves. Obviously, Dungy gets high marks here as well.
Saying that Manning is undefeated since Dungy retired and Tampa Bay won the SB after Dungy left as if they're some sort of knock against Dungy is ridiculous. George Seifert has the 2nd best winning percentage of any modern NFL coach. Tell me, does that make Bill Walsh's accomplishments LESS impressive, or MORE impressive?

I think that's a bigger mark of the team and staff and less of the manager. Imo. Dungy is one lucky guy. Monte Kiffin and Peyton Manning basically carried his entire career. Kind of like Cowher and LeBeau.

Could Dungy have made the Detroit Lions a winner when he left Tampa Bay with Matt Millen as GM?If the answer is yes, then I would nominate Dungy as the best NFL coach of all time. Being a great coach is about timing and players. Dungy knew in Indy he could not fail with Manning. Gruden came into a good situation in TB. I highly doubt either one of these guys would be highly touted if they were in Cleveland and Detroit.
