Top Gear British edition (1 Viewer)

Can't they just replace the idiots that do Top Gear America?
I actually like the US guys. I think they've come into their own after an awkward start.

But I believe the BBC owns the rights to all of the Top Gears all over the world. Can't get fired from the London office and then hope to get hired by the LA office.

Top Gear China? They don't give a #### about copy rights there.

awesome. Netflix is really kicking ### in the original streaming program dept. The 4th season of Arrested Development, House of Cards, Orange, Daredevil...

What's the big deal with this show anyways?  I don't get it.
The British version was much better than the US spinoff by far.  Did not see any of the shows with the new hosts, but Clarkson and the rest really did not hold back on their opinions and we just don't see shows like that over here.  They would get a car to test drive and just out and out call it rubbish and say it in a funny way too.

Grant Tour is good-not great. The second season of Top Gear is getting good. They adjusted the lineup
of hosts to three and celebrity guests now run on the test track with a fast car.

Grand Tour season/series #3 released on Amazon.  They've simplified the format to a single location shoot divided into two segments, separated by Conversation Street and a car test.  The celebrity segment is no more.

It's all very familiar with minor variations on the same jokes they've been telling for year.  But it's still mindless fun.

This season has been hysterical.  I liked the past season as well, but I've been loving this season.  I think these three guys seem to be a good fit.  They seem like they really all get along.

The Grand Tour or the new guys on the BBC?
BBC guys.  They've really started to figure things out.  I'm not saying they're as good as the GT guys, but they found their own style and it's really good.

That crash that Hammond took still makes me wonder how that show continued on.  I mean he's lucky to have walked away from that.

What happened to Rory and Matt?
Matt decided he didn't want to do it any more. I'm not sure why BBC decided to kick Rory off too. I thought he was a pretty good fit. The new guys are a comic and a cricketer.

Old seasons of Top Gear are on Motor Trend's streaming service. Apparently they are rebooting Top Gear America, too. Not sure it's worth $5/month.

Motor Trend has US broadcast rights again this year for the 24 Hours of Le Mans so there's that.

I made it halfway through the first episode with the new guys then turned it off.
The second show was much better and I'll see what happens with the third.

I finally got around to watching the new season of Top Gear with the two new British guys.  I wasn't really expecting much so I wasn't really in a hurry to watch it.  But I have to admit, these three might be the best group ever.  Including the now GT guys.  I think it's kind of like how people look at the original SNL cast and thinks no one was funnier.  Than you go back and watch the old episodes and they weren't as great as you had remembered them.  Hammond and crew definitely changed the game.  But these guys are hysterical.  I was laughing out loud more than any show I've watched in a long time.  The conversations don't feel scripted, like a lot of the iterations have felt.  They seem to genuinely all like each other and rag on each other.

On a side note, when the two new guys started talking, I thought, "I can't understand these guys at all."  And then Chris Harris said, "It's going to be a long series because I can't understand a word you guys say."     Even the Brit couldn't understand the other Brits.  So much so, that at certain points of the show, they actually put subtitles down when they're talking.  Mental.

Any show that's car related on TV, I'm pretty much a complete whore for, I'll watch anything car related, same with the youtubez, I watch most of what is car related out there so even if the new crew sucked, I'd still watch it.  However, I do like this new group so far but God almighty the two new guys talk like they have mouths full of $hit or something.  At first I thought they were being funny with the captions but when they don't include the captions, honestly, I'm completely lost.  Seriously, I have no idea what they're saying most of the time.  Often, when the leave out the captions, I find I'm a minute behind because my brain is still trying to translate whatever they were saying a minute ago back into English. ;)

The longer I watched it, the better I was getting at understanding them.  Not always, but better.  And yes, my brain is the same way.  It'll be 20 seconds later and my brain will just figure out a sentence the guy said.  Also, sometimes they put the subtitles down and I still have no idea what they're saying.

Sounds like the movie Snatch. Brits living in some rural areas can be darn near impossible to understand. Like trying to understand someone from deep in the Louisiana bayous.

After 22 years together, the final Grand Tour special w/ Clarkson, Hammond and May was just released on Prime Video. They drive around Zimbabwe in cars from the 70s ending up at the site of their first special episode from 2007.

Their banter is a bit tired after all these years but the three of them are still entertaining together.

I'd watch a show just of them having lunch together. Really bummed that they won't be doing this show anymore, but I think they've done everything they can possibly do in this particular format.

I'm sure they agree with the bolded and decided to officially end it. Plus, I can't imagine how their old bones (even Hammond is in his 50's) would take the abuse that comes with what they put themselves through.

I watched this episode Saturday night and thought it a fitting send-off. 'One for the Road' indeed.
