Tough Decision but I've made up my mind, time to trade............ (1 Viewer)

BigTex

Don't mess with Texas
Antonio Gates

Picking the proper time to trade a stud player is essential in fantasy football and that time is this offseason. He's a future HOF, was my 3x MVP in 3 of my championship wins but after 9 years on my roster producing at a high level over his career and a foot injury, it's time to trade him. Sure he may have a few years left in the tank but I've invested 9yrs, have seen a great return on that investment but it's time to sell and invest in another stock.

This is based off the idea that he stays healthy and continue to produce otherwise I have no problem with him retiring on my roster.

Who are you selling?

I traded Roddy after week 3 since I wasn't winning anything this year. I got Antonio Brown, a 3rd round rookie pick this year, two firsts next year (Im expecting one to be top 5 and the other one mid to mid-late), and a 2nd round pick next year.

Edit to change Bryant to Brown

I'm actually shopping Gates right now. I don't think I want to wait until the offseason, as that is a whole half season of value lost to a potential trade partner. I think his perceived value is likely to be higher now than in the offseason, perhaps significantly so. Of course, I have Graham as well, so I have the luxury of parting with him midseason.

I traded him away packaged with Owen Daniels in exchange for Rob Gronkowski earlier this season.

you may be a year late...
Might be right. His value certainly won't get back to the no-doubt TE1 status he enjoyed in the beginning of last season. Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski have usurped him.
I have 5 dynasty teams and I would give up very little to add gates and I surely wouldn't move my current starters for him (Gronk, Pettigrew, Vernon Davis, OD in the other 2). I would consider adding him to the VD team as a 1 year stop-gap but my offer wouldn't be more than a 2nd an average player. If I'm making a move for a big-time TE in dynasty, its Graham, Pettigrew, etc. Not Gates unless he's being sold cheap. Even then I'm worried of being saddled long-term with a potentially bad contract in a year or 2.

Getting *very* close to selling Miles Austin.

Went after him aggressively in 2010 offseason, and this is now two years in a row its been nothing but frustration.

Jahvid Best is another one, but unfortunately the time to sell was right after he went crazy on the Bears...

This went down in a league that I'm in with One Time, he got Antonio Brown, not Bryant :lmao: Also, I'm guessing by 2013, neither of those 1st are going to be top 5 IMO.
Yeah, I fixed it. Ive had a fever for a few days that is not going away :hot: And we will see OC. It wont be one or two (barring bad luck), but I could see anything after that. I'm not high on most the people on his team for next year and thus why I traded for it

I'm in the same position, was just offered a first from a team that's 5-4. Let me know what offers you see.

In my 10 man league, I traded Turner for 1st round pick next year 3 weeks back. I'm still trilled to get that...in that (ppr) league he's a low-end RB1 near the end of his career.

I'm still trying to deal Brady, but it seems most teams feel they are ok at QB. Unless there's an injury and someone gets desperate, I expect to keep him.

I also have Austin, but no way would I deal him right now. He value is below sea level. Even Jermichael Finley has garnered little attention.

That said, I will likely be forced to do something by next summer as we are only allowed to keep 8.

So, without success, I have been shopping:

Brady and Finley (for example, both for Andre Johnson / both for Roddy White)

B/t his health issues and QB play (be it Kitna or Romo, dating back to last year), its tough to generate any value in him...I forgot to add DeSean Jackson - teams are now onto him, they know he wont go over the middle and he's just a deep threat. There is ZERO consistency from him. He disappears for weeks at a time. Couple that with his attitude and his small build, I would love to get rid of him. I'm actually trying to work a larger deal with him as a part of it, but the guy keeps putting up clunkers which is scaring people off.

Pettigrew does not belong in the same sentence as Graham. Gates, IMO, is more valuable than Pettigrew even in dynasty.

Will do. I've had other owners express interest, but nothing concrete has yet been offered. Just a few feelers.

I wouldn't take Gates for Pettigrew straight-up

I am trying to move Andre Johnson in one keeper league. Still think he is excellent when playing, but as they say, better to trade a year early than a year too late.
