Claypool is the perfect WR for the Bears, a playmaker with size, and a chip on his shoulder. Claypool strikes me as one of those WRs who needs to be a top target or he checks out a bit. But when he's locked in, he's sometimes capable of taking over games.

Makes the smith trade a bit better imo. Smith is better, but claypool fits a need.

Claypool is also cheaper and plays a more valuable position.

Sneaky big winner of this deal is Pat Freiermuth. Very few TEs have his target floor right now.

Sure. Big cost but would be a help. His next year hit plus Rodgers contract is what hurts them there .

But they don't really have the cap room to take on a contract (only have $2 million in capo space), and the deadline was yesterday to rework deals prior to trades today. Meaning, they can't eat some of the cost of their bad contracts as sweetener to move someone like Wynn, Agholor, Jonnu Smith, etc. They would have had to figure a way to do that by yesterday.
