I have been in discussion with an owner on a trade and it raised a question.
How do you overcome a players past injury, displacement (rookie drafted) and overall playing time if his current projections and surrounding situations are solid?
Specificly, we were discussing Caddy Williams and Plex Burress for TO and Chester Taylor.
I made an offer of Caddy and Burress for Andre Johnson and C Taylor.
I also asked for a 2008 pick swap (my 6th rounder for his 4th rounder in a Keep 3 league)
I have Adrian Peterson (Min RB) and wanted to secure the my flex spot.
Using current FBG 2007 Projections:
Caddy = 177 \ 324 projected points
Burress = 147 /
TO = 189 \ 285 projected points
C Taylor = 96 /
I thought it was a good deal for him and gave me what I was looking for....however, the other owner was insulted! He came back claiming that Chester Taylor was better than Caddy all by him self! Why would he even add TO to the deal. How dare I ask for a pick also!
He felt so disgusted he countered with offering Arz Def and Bubba Franks for F Gore and L Evans just to make his point.
He was listing last year's performance stats. How Chester Taylor is still RB#1 in Minn and will remain that way. He ran for 1200+ yards and had 6 TD plus 42 rec! Caddy had only 1 TD! How dare I consider that a fair deal!
Comparing 2006 FBG Performance Values
Caddy = 105 \ 264 projected points
Burress = 159 /
TO = 196 \ 382 projected points
C Taylor = 186 /
This impacts players such as Ronnie Brown, Kevin Jones, Hines Ward, Thomas Jones, Fred Taylor, Torry Holt, and Chris Brown, just to name a few.
How do you overcome such an obstacle as "Past Performance vs Present Situations"? Some owners are stubborn and just too bullheaded to see the difference, but I would appreciate any insight to this.
Sorry if this is a bit of a rant. I just don't understand his thinking....
