Trades for Playoffs (1 Viewer)

I've often heard about owners making trades towards the end of the season to position themselves for the playoffs. They look at the schedule ahead and see that a particular player has a tougher then normal schedule and often sell a bit short to get a somewhat comparable player but with a better schedule.

Is it wise to trade the horses that got you there, or continue to ride them?

Personally I've never been a real fan of it because you are taking a risk, and you almost always have to settle for a player not as good as your current player.

Thoughts?

First off I assume the horses you are referring to do not include studs like LT, LJ, Peyton, McNabb, Holt, etc unless you are getting one of these in return. I see nothing wrong with trading away your horses for players that are > or = to your current horses. To me, this applies regardless of the time of season. However, I would not risk trading my horse down for a player of lesser value with a more favorable schedule unless its for a rb. The reason for the rb exception is that when it gets cold rb's get more action. Therefore,To me trading for the playoffs applies to the savvy owners who drafted and acquired good depth to get them through the byes with a good record so now they can move some of that depth to struggling onwers to upgrade certain weaknesses. Thats really all there is to it.
