I am the commissioner of an 18 team fantasy league that has been ongoing for about 7 years now with family members that involves a decent amount of $$$. First, it should be noted that my family is very close and almost every Sunday, all 18 teams watch the games together. But this is by far the most competitive league I have been in and it can make certain things that happen in FF touchy.
Here is the problem; since I have won the championship a few times now and never have missed the playoffs, owners are not as willing to make trades with me as they feel I am "ripping them off." This leads to everyone rejecting my offers because they don't want to get the worse side of a trade and lose to the "snake" as I am now called. I typically lead the league in trades accepted, but this year it has been difficult.
But it gets worse. Our league has the feature where owners can veto trades in the case of collusion. Each year, I lobby to get rid of owner voting, but this idea gets shot down because the owners want the feel of some sort of "power". But veto powers are being abused as always. I, along with one other owner who has won the championship twice, are constantly having trades vetoed with other owners in which there is no collusion and the trades are extremely fair. When the other owners are asked as to why the trades are being vetoed, they all say it is because they don't want to improve our chances of winning and that if you were a "good" fantasy owner you wouldn't need to make trades.
There are only a few owners who actively participate in trading and when these teams send out offers, the rest of the league gets together to "discuss the offer" and most of the time rejects all offers without any counter-offer.
In general, how do you deal with owners who do veto non-collusion trades and who constantly scheme together to beat a few owners in the league? Leaving the league isn't a real possibility as it is a family league and I am the commissioner.
