Travis Henry. Marijuana. Suspension? (1 Viewer)

With Goodell you have to feel certain he will suspend Henry for the maximum...ole boy is laying the law in the NFL. Doesn't look good.

I'm now left with Foster, Green and K. Jones at RB after drafting SJax and then Henry.

Yippeeee.

Fun ain't it?

THANK GOD that story about Henry and his 9 kids with 9 women broke on my draft day. I was deciding between Westbrook & Henry (even tho henry was Rb5 in my scoring system on the Draft dominator and westbrook was rb11)... anyways I went with character (and injury-prone) and I am so so so so happy to have made that call. Westbrook basically won week 3 for me, and I'm sure when he's back to health later in the season he'll win a few mroe ball games for me... while Henry will be killing his owners, esp those who shirked on RB depth thinking they had a 16 game starter in Henry.

There's been a lot of discussion about the backups and who might benefit... let's say in most leagues Young was rostered because he's been contributing a bit each week.

You've only got room for one: Sapp, Bell or Hall.

Who are you picking up from that group?

Broncos have their bye in week 6. That will be nice to have the time to see where things will level out with this.

/grabbed Young last week, dropped Micheal Jenkins to get Sapp as insurance after today's news.

So I'm confused, is Henry out or is he screwed? I assume this incident would have taken place prior to week 3, but obviously we're past the cutoff now...

Hmmmmm.....the Young owner wants Sammy Morris from me. I hate to do it, but if this is legit - Young could be a monster.

Do I?????

hehehe....good one.Shanny has been talking highly of Young since before the season....Shanny's a gambler i.e Cutler last year.....Selvin has avg'd a high YPC (north of 5yrds I think)....what does he have to lose giving the guy a chance??? He's scrapped his way onto the team to #2RB....he's the guy you want, not Bell or Sapp. I think anyways...

I haven't read a post but I, and everyone who picked up Selvin Young, want to thank Bongo for starting the false rumor about Travis Henry's knee and flufhed for bringing it to our attention.

Gotta love fantasy football...I bet 1% of the posters on this board knew zero about Andre Hall prior to this thread...
 i've been watching his development since 6th grade.
Please I AM Andre Hall.
:bye: i'm the guy in the raincoat and sunglasses who comes to all your games :pickle:
So where were you two when I was arguing about him with EBF this offseason? The FFA?

I play the team with Henry on Sportsline this week and Sportsline has dropped Henry's estimated points from 12 (maybe 10?) yesterday to 8 and talks about the drug test in the game preview. (I picked up Young yesterday.)

Yeah, but I thought the time frame for the "specimen" in question was prior to week 3?

FF is war. Always look out for number 1 and make sure to not step in number 2.
Thats kinda how i feel...it`s not like i`m forcing henry on anyone , if they do the homework they wont do the trade...if they just accept the trade than i out foxed them.

There is another article saying that Henry was trying to get an injunction to prevent the NFL from using his latest drug test results. I'm pretty sure the date was prior to week 3, which would mean Henry is probably done.

That article says Sept 20th is when he filed the suit so it is likely the sample was taken prior to that date.

The big question is - will Henry play this week? They can't suspend him until the appeal is dropped, right? If the appeal isn't looked at until after Sunday, he technically can still play, correct?
Correct. Henry apparently was going to try and practice tomorrow. My question continues to be: If he does practice and he's able to play will Shanahan start him?

Henry may end up carrying clean slate

Article Last Updated: 03/07/2007 12:30:00 AM MST

One risk involved in the Broncos' signing of Travis Henry will be erased later this year if the running back continues to stay clean.

Henry will rotate out of the NFL's substance abuse program after the third game of the 2007 season if he doesn't have any drug violations. If he does have a violation before then, Henry would be suspended for the entire season.

Players rotate out of the program after two seasons if they don't have any further violations.

Henry was suspended four games in 2005, his first season with the Tennessee Titans, after testing positive for marijuana.
So I'm confused, is Henry out or is he screwed? I assume this incident would have taken place prior to week 3, but obviously we're past the cutoff now...

The court date re: the drug test was from Sept 20th.Henry fired the first salvo in the case Sept. 20 when he attempted to get a restraining order in Suffolk County Supreme Court to block the NFL from using a urine specimen against him and to stop the league from disclosing the test results.

Thoughts on dynasty moves on Young, Bell and Hall?

Who would you get if you had the chance?

I traded for TH and drafted Young. Dropped Sapp prior to the season.

Bell is gone-I might go get Sapp. My cap is tight though-wait.

What an idiot Travis Henry is. Getting busted once is stupid enough when there is millions of dollars on the line. A 2nd time, a few weeks before he'd be in the clear, is bordering on brain dead.

Well if it's pretty clear that a suspension is coming down, it makes sense to sit him and get selvin going since he will be the guy for the rest of the season

Found a little more

Newsday reported that Henry filed a lawsuit Sept. 20 in Suffolk County Supreme Court seeking a restraining order that prevented the league from using a urine specimen against him and making the test results public.

That request was granted, but the NFL then got an appellate court to vacate the order, the paper said.

The league went to federal court in Brooklyn on Monday in an attempt to have the lawsuit transferred to their jurisdiction because that branch generally handles labor laws. It’s the NFL’s contention that collective bargaining issues are in dispute, Newsday reported.

Quite a costly mistake. He'll likely have to re-pay some of his signing bonus too.

Or Shanahan might not want to risk falling to 2-3 and going into the bye with a three-game losing streak. When Onterrio Smith was suspended a few years ago he started every game right up until his suspension kicked in. I don't think it would be out of the question for Henry to start if he's able to go. Or will Shanahan use Henry's injury as a convenient way to avoid the whole thing and just sit him anyway?

Would you guys try to trade for Young (real quick). Or grab all of the others (Sapp, Bell, Hall)?

ETA - Trading for Yound would be a little costly (S.Morris)

Well, in my league the newsbreaker is right there for the guys to see in the morning while having their coffee. Unless some idiot just totally misses it, I'd say grab the other guys.

I put in what I think will be the winning blind bid for Young, but I couldn't afford the roster space on even further speculation. If I could, I'd trade Young to the Henry owner right now for a very much needed WR; our league weekly trade deadline passed almost an hour ago...
