Travis Henry. Marijuana. Suspension? (3 Viewers)

why is everyone assuming Young gets all the looks?

Bell knows the offense, averaged 4.3 YPC last season, had 8 TDs and only 1 fumble. His blitz coverage has improved since last season, I don't see why he wouldn't get substantial touches? He was a rookie last season to boot!

http://forums.denverbroncos.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5And besides just what the homers say... the best I could tell Young was getting 1st team reps with Henry being "busy/hurt".

I found this...it`s old but clears up what week he has until out of the program.Henry may end up carrying clean slateBy Bill WilliamsonDenver Post Staff WriterArticle Last Updated: 03/07/2007 12:30:00 AM MSTOne risk involved in the Broncos' signing of Travis Henry will be erased later this year if the running back continues to stay clean.Henry will rotate out of the NFL's substance abuse program after the third game of the 2007 season if he doesn't have any drug violations. If he does have a violation before then, Henry would be suspended for the entire season.Players rotate out of the program after two seasons if they don't have any further violations.Henry was suspended four games in 2005, his first season with the Tennessee Titans, after testing positive for marijuana.
So I'm confused, is Henry out or is he screwed? I assume this incident would have taken place prior to week 3, but obviously we're past the cutoff now...
if this article is accurate it would appear that he's in the clear.
the drug test was from Sept 20th, so that's before week three, my friend...
Oh...didn't see that.
As a LAC10 grad we'll let it slide.

I love when stories like this hit. It's almost midnight and the list of people reading this thread is as long as the thread itself.

I don't understand the story about Henry saying his "specialists" weren't able to be present. Is there a chance he gets off on this? Under the new NFL tougher rules/enforcement I think Goodell lays the smackdown quickly. Don't see this getting dragged out.

Gotta throw this out there:I don't think the Shark move here is to run out and grab one of Sapp, Bell or Hall hoping for a lottery ticket. The Shark move is to lurk in the waiver wire waters and grab some good player that another owner dumps for one of those 3 guys.
Well Mr. Shark, I dumped Marcel Shipp out there for you...

It's 9:25 here.

You can have L. Pope - my former TE3 :hophead: ;) I figured w/ Bell already on my bench it was worth a shot in a deep league to grap Hall. Both could end up being a waste, but :lmao: My guess is Bell w/ Young as the main RBBC w/ Young getting more yds. It's not like there's been many (any?) RB scores in DEN thus far.

This adds nothing of value - but I remember last year being glued to the board when TO was or was not trying to kill himself. This year, a new player on my squad is putting me throguh this again.

He's not big enough to handle 20 touches/game..
What? Are you serious?Selvin is 5' 11" and 207 lbs.A couple of other guys who just entered the league and are doing OK:Reggie Bush is 6' and 203 lbsJoseph Addai is 5' 10" and 214 lbsMarshawn Lynch is only 5' 10" and 215 lbsDon't forget the diminutive Brian Westbrook: 5' 10" and 203 lbsI'll bet none of those guys amounts to anything in this league either.

Riddle me this: If you had to drop Derrick Ward to get Young would you?
I just did that.Ward will never score (well almost never).
...and in all likelyhood, neither will S. Young. Henry is the only legit RB on this squad. Welcome to RBBC hell.
Young will get the first chance, if he runs well there wont be a full blown RBBC, or have you forgotten about Olandis Gary, Mike Anderson, Reuben Droughns...

For those of us lucky enough to have picked up Selvin Young I think the shark move is to lock up a trade before Sunday’s game. His value may increase with a good performance, but RBBC is a more likely scenario which will decrease his value considerably. Sportsline has no mention of RBBC and is assuming Selvin will just fill the void that Henry may be creating. Since most FF'ers believe that any RB can be plugged into Denver and succeed Selvin has immediate value as a RB2 with RB1 upside (especially with his 10YPC vs. IND last week).

In the meantime I may use him in place of Kevin Jones this week depending on how this shakes out.

Using MyFBG custom cheatsheets for this week, Dodds/Norton has S. Young as the #7 RB this week and Bloom has him at #8. That was pretty fast, even if they figured Henry would be out due to his knee.

when i started reading this thread it was 3 pages long, I am just finishing... after a few breaks, ehem, and it is 9 pages... that means it added 5 pages while i was, ehem, reading cause I took one of the pages and rolled a fatty in honor of Henry!

Bets on the fact that henry is watching "Friday" and cries everytime chris tucker says "its friday, you ain't got no job..." and then he rolls another fatty and makes another baby... and dreams of becoming the next "big worm" ah big perm... lol

really do feel for the kids o' henry, they just lost a fat chuck of cash...

They've changed it based on the news tonight then. If I remember correctly Dodds/Norton has Young around 20 and Bloom had him at 8.

:reche:

Well I lucked out and got Selvin with My 2ND ROUND waiver picks (waivers went through at 9 PM) I was away and hadn't read all this. Got E Graham with the first waiver pick :lmao:

it was like that before this broke

I'll admit that I'm one of those FF'ers that thinks any random RB can ( or at least, could ) be plugged into Denver's game. It seems like this team **will** have a 1000 yard back with whoever, though admittedly that's not the mark that it used to be.That said, I'm starting to deal Selvin now, but I'm having a real problem figuring out what I should be shooting for in return. Maybe I need to temper my expectations for Denver's RB, but the upside is huge. Getting a potential starting RB at this point in the season, with so many playing poorly or injured, could save someone's season.Sooo... whatcha got, Sharks. Who do you take for Selvin Young right now?

Not to say Selvin Young will fool us like this, but does anyone remember Quentin Griffin? Think some people wasted a 1st or 2nd round pick on that guy in 2004

I don't qualify as a Shark, but 16-25 RB was bandied about ealier which says to me somewhere between Edge and Benson? Probably a second tier WR, somewhere in the range of Smith through Buress?

If you picked him up for cheap as most of us did... Keep him guys. It cost you nothing, and the potential reward is to great to get a freaking Benson as a trade. Benson is pathetic.

this sounds right.-biz-
Selvin cost me the league minimum for a blind bid, not a 1st or 2nd round pick. Why not take a flier?
agreed. if you can spare the spot, then it cant hurt. i just cant bring myself to do it.makes me wish i played in leagues that had more liberal roster requirements.-biz-

No doubt, thats why I added him in all my leagues. Just saying theres always alot of hype surrounding Denver RBs for people gauging Youngs value. Hopefully this one pays off tho!!

I picked up Selvin Young in 4 of 6 dynasty leagues on Aug 31 :wall: I was able to get Sapp tonight in 3 of those 4, and Bell in 1 of 4.

I don't need him besides for maybe bye week replacement. I picked him up Wednesday AM for potential trade fodder. I already have LT and ADP whom I plan on riding all season in a start 2 RB league. Since I need help at WR with Boldin hobbling I'm thinking it's time to wheel and deal a WR1 out of him. :wall:

As a Broncos fan I'm now going to go jump off a cliff. As a fantasy owner I jumped off that cliff a few weeks ago with the Steven Jackson torn groin thing.

My next fantasy team will have to be named the cliff jumpers.

How bad is this?

I went back to my Fantasy Football Index Mag. (I know but it's a tradition) to dig up what I thought I read in the pre-season regarding Henry's involvement in the NFL drug program.

The Index said, "he will rotate out of the league's drug program after the 3rd week of the season." The 3rd week of the season took place on 9/23/07 and 9/24/07. That's only three days after he started the legal stuff on 9/20/07. So does that mean he was within a week of rotating out of the program, and tested positive? If so, that makes him even more stupid then I thought he was already.

Oct. 4 News:

Bell practiced Wednesday after missing time with a concussion, however he is not sure he will play on Sunday, the Denver Post reports.

Couldn't find it but I recall reading an article done by one of the FBG's a few years back studying RB size and durability and I believe it concluded that RBs under 6' and around 205-215lbs got injured less than the bigger backs with a similar number of carries.

For people just joining in, I'll summarize:

Henry failed a drug test on 9/20 outside the NFL and tried to cover up the fact:

NFL got the info anyway and is trying to use it against Henry.

Henry is suing NFL to keep them from using said drug test against him. May get off on technicality but nothing is concrete as of yet.

Selvin Young is officially listed as Henry's backup.

Nothing is set in stone as of yet so sit tight and watch the speculation fly
another headache Denver RB year
After drafting Mike Bell in Round 4 last year, I swore I'd never get mixed up with the Denver RB situation again. Now, I'm fighting the temptation drop Mark Clayton for Sapp (Young's not available).Just when I thought I was out ... they pull me back in.
I dropped Mark Clayton for Selvin about 4 hours ago..which leaves me with Roy-W, Wayne, and Driver...which I can live with for now :lmao: But, does anyone remember the Merriman situation from a year ago?!? I remember him being pretty steadfast on appealing his innocence and such but the situation/suspension being set within a week. I know he only faced a 4 gamer, but still. With Roger "the Hammer" Goodell running things, I say all suspensions or lack thereof are finalized within 10 days, unless 'ol Roge' is ridin dirty himself that is
