Trent Green placed on IR (1 Viewer)

Dolphins placed QB Trent Green (concussion) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The 'Fins may go the rest of the way with only two quarterbacks. Green's future in league is uncertain even though he wants to play again. He signed a three-year, $13.5 million deal with Miami in the offseason, but we suspect there is some sort of an out clause tied to head injuries the team can exercise. If he does play again, it almost certainly won't be for Dolphins.

Hopefully the guy's head isn't too rattled to realize he's done. He's still got years and years of life ahead of him, it would be nice if he could remember them.

This is actually one of the smartest things the Dolphins have done all season.

If Green would have taken I believe over 60% of the snaps this season, they would have had to give the Chiefs their 4th rounder. Now, it's just a 5th rounder, which even though is still a pick, it's much better than our 4th.

Mia should never be allowed to trade for a QB ever again.
IMHO the main problem with the Green trade was that they overestimated how competitive they'd be this year. I don't think they had any idea they'd be 0-6 this year. There's no way you trade for a guy like him as opposed to muddling through with Lemon, a FA signing like Aaron Brooks, and Beck if you took an honest assessment of that team back in August. Hopefully now they'll start playing Booker.

I assume your referring to Lorenzo Booker?

I was pretty excited about the Dolphins drafting him but he hasn't really show much yet. He hasn't been able to beat out Patrick Cobbs for our RB3 position and they are now trying to convert him to a WR. I know he is very explosive and a playmaker but I don't know how he'd do at WR. Hopefully he can start getting some more playing time though and show us something. Miami in the future can have a pretty explosive offense full of playmakers with Ginn, Booker, Brown, etc.

Hopefully now they'll start playing Booker.
#### I'd hope so. The guy should be getting touches. Chatman/Cobbs aren't your future. You're 0-6 with them as your backups. You're 0-6 with them as your backups. You're 0-6 with them as your backups. This offense could throwing a #### load of wrinkles in it with Ginn/Booker. Hopefully they'll now do so.

That's what I mean. I think they could use him as a Reggie Bush-type of player by sending him in motion, putting him out wide, starting him in the backfield, whatever. His speed is what you use to create matchup problems for the defense, and from everything I understand about the guy he's got terrific hands.

As I understand it, Randy Mueller believed this to be a team that would at least be looking at .500 this year. That's one reason among many why I want his butt fired. There is no reason Miami should have kept Green instead of one of Harrington or Culpepper (and I really don't care which -- whoever they picked would just be treading water). I didn't think this was a winless team going into the season myself, but I did at least have the presence of mind to project it as a 5 to 8 win team, and I'm just a fan, not a supposed personnel professional.

That was one of the smartest moves Trent has ever made. I wish him the best of luck but he has to realize that this was in his (and the leagues) best interest. The last thing the NFL needs now, is bad publicity because of damage done to a player because of one too many head injuries.

With trading Chris Chambers, this has left them as bare as a team could be. There is no way that Ronnie Brown has any chance of being effective again this season.

Miami now has no Defense

No QB

No Wide Recv

Wow. When was the last time a team went 0-16?

This wasn't a move Trent Green made. In fact, indications seem to be that Green expected he'd be coming back this year. I imagine he's kind of pissed.

As far as Chambers goes, don't forget that Marty Booker was the most productive WR on the Dolphins last year *by a wide margin*. Booker/Ginn/Hagan isn't sparkling, but it's okay. Your analysis of Cleo Lemon (and probably Beck after the bye) is pretty much right on, though. It's not as though Green had looked much better. Ronnie has been facing teams knowing he was the weapon of choice since the season began. He'll be fine.

:eek:The Dolphins made out getting a #2 for Chambers. He's not a #1 WR & drops far too many passes. No sense in holding Hagan/Ginn on the sidelines for him.If Brown doesn't get his, credit the opposing defense......it won't be because Chris fugging Chambers is gone.Miami is a very bad team. Whether 0-16 is possible. Who knows.

0-16 is certainly a possibility, but it's not a strong one. The Bills and Jets are too bad to imagine going 0-4 against them if nothing else. Also, it's a possibility that what ails the D could end up being corrected and this could be a 4 or 5 win team. It's not a strong possibility that's going to happen, but that's my optimistic fan hope at this moment.
