People were doing this? Wow. Trying to remember the Zen expression, something like " a flower might die even if you love it, a weed will grow even if you don't." Trent has every chance to be a great player, but this seems completely independent of whether anybody here wins a message board debate on this fact or on who liked him the most first.Where are the guys that bashed Richardson just because I don't believe in Mark Ingram?
Jim Brown = windsock. And he's always been a jerk, IIRC.Jim Brown now claims he just wanted to motivate Trent Richardson Posted by Michael David Smith on September 21, 2012, 12:52 PM EDTRemember all those comments from Jim Brown about how Cleveland rookie running back Trent Richardson is “ordinary”? Yeah, Brown says he was just kidding.Brown, who has been mending fences with the franchise in recent weeks, said today that he made those comments because he wanted to motivate Richardson. Brown also indicated that he thought what he said about Richardson became overblown, comparing his “ordinary” comment to a “firestorm coming out of the mountains.”After Richardson turned a short catch into a long touchdown and broke several tackles on his way to the end zone on Sunday against the Bengals, Brown said Richardson was impressive. Today Brown added that Richardson has the ability to make plays even if there isn’t a hole to run through.“Why wouldn’t you love to see a running back make two, three, four or five moves and shed those tacklers?” Brown said. “Because ultimately a running back has to get rid of tacklers without his blockers being a part of it. So I was happy to see him show that kind of talent.”Apparently Brown thinks his motivational tactic worked.![]()
Actually, I foresee something between week's 1 & 2 - maybe 20 rushes for 84 yards and 0 TDs and 3 receptions for 12 yards. And both sides going "See?!?!? I was right!!!!!!1!!"Well now that we've had a full on lovefest between weeks 2 and 3, I guess we can expect the air to be let out of the balloon soon.
How many games has he missed in his college and pro career due to his knees? His 50 or so other knee issues. What do you base this on?Whats the over under on when he has more knee issues?I'm saying week 8.
I don't know but he's only 2 games into his pro career. How many games has he missed in his college and pro career due to his knees? His 50 or so other knee issues. What do you base this on?Whats the over under on when he has more knee issues?I'm saying week 8.
TD only money league....all smiles here.no gameday bump??
3 TDs in 3 games, I'll take it.TD only money league....all smiles here.no gameday bump??
Yeah, guess those scoring opportunities aren't nearly as had to come by as many tried to say.3 TDs in 3 games, I'll take it.TD only money league....all smiles here.no gameday bump??
I played a team that started ADP - the two washed each other out. I'm pretty conent with that.no gameday bump??
ETA: Also love the 7 targets and 6 recepions (and I dont even play in PPR).Went with T Rich over either Leshoure or Nicks (haven't decided yet) and am pleased so far tonight. 56 total and a TD in the first half.Have to admit...didn't see him much in college and this is the first I have seen of him this year. He is really, really good. If his team improves he will be a beast.
lol. Don't worry - as TRich gets more comfortable (he missed all of camp and PS with the knee), the Browns have already said they'll work him in as an every-down back.Think of what he could be if it weren't for the PPR vulture and amazing talent of Ogbonnaya?!![]()
He's the #1 dynasty RB. I don't think anyone who owns him would trade him straight up for any other RB.
He's 21 and will be a top 10 FF RB this season while playing on a bad offense that can't get worse.
If you don't own him sell the farm to get him in any keeper/dynasty league.
Yeah. I would love hang out with him. No homo. You know, just to talk about weight lifting and sweet dreadlocks.Richardson is really good at making something out of nothing. Where most guys would get stopped for a loss he fights for a few yards. He's very powerful.
Richardson owner in my league is willing to trade Richardson and change for Rice. And, as the Rice owner, I'm not willing to take his offer. He's the #1 dynasty RB. Rice is the only one who would make me hesitate. And even then, I'd probably pull the trigger.Richardson owner in my league is willing to trade Richardson and change for Rice. Not sure how you can turn that down. Rice has a slight edge this year due to situation but it wouldn't surprise me if Trent scored pretty close to him the rest of the way. Trent is learning and getting better every week, plus he's 21. Think about having an LT/AD type FF RB for their career, that's what you get with Trent.Take the trade, especially when you're getting extra.Richardson owner in my league is willing to trade Richardson and change for Rice. The league is yardage-heavy. I think there's no way Richardson scores anywhere near Rice this year. The year Rice is about to have is the kind of season that wins championships, and I have enough youth and future picks that I feel no need to leverage the present to benefit the future. Anyway, the particulars are irrelevant, I just felt like pointing out that there existed data points outside the echo chamber. Not sure how you can turn that down. Agreed. I gave up Rice for Richardson and a late 1st round rookie pick (in a dev league with thin rookie pools) last season. Really happy with the move. After tonights game (assuming no OT) Rice will be 10 points ahead of TRich in my league. He is 6 years younger and infinitely more talented than Rice. I have T Rich in a dynasty and wouldn't even entertain trading him straight up for Rice, let alone with some sweetener thrown in. Not close. The league is yardage-heavy. Zen Buddhist Fantasy Football...the quote's attributed to Dogen Zenji"A flower falls, even though we love it; and a weed grows, even though we do not love it." as well as the very similar, "Do not arouse disdainful mind when you prepare a broth of wild grasses; do not arouse joyful mind when you prepare a fine cream soup. "People were doing this? Wow. Trying to remember the Zen expression, something like " a flower might die even if you love it, a weed will grow even if you don't." Let alone in a game that was relatively close the whole way through. At least we know that he will be consistently involved in the passing game - these 4-5 catches per week make him extremely valuable. Top 5 RB finish would not surprise me.Good thing Cleveland is well coached:52 pass attempts vs. 14 runs in a close game when nobody on Baltimore wanted to tackle T Rich.
What's insane is the he's still barely on the field on 3rd downs. And he will be. We'd be looking at 7-8 catches most likely.Let alone in a game that was relatively close the whole way through. Hopefully they fire Shurmur and hire an NFL coach, not some joke who is calling plays like its Madden on XBox.What's insane is the he's still barely on the field on 3rd downs. And he will be. I believe it was I'm the scientist who said the following on the other trich thread: "pro tip - avoid rookie rbs". And then he got thrashed for that nonsense. LolPeople were doing this? Wow. Kenny Powers is the worst though, he loves Ingram and can't stand Richardson. Very true. There's no football reason for him to remain out on 3rd downs, he looks pretty solid in terms of blitz pickup and overall pass protection. No doubt they are still easing him into a full workload at this point. If you give him Ogbonnaya's catches, we're looking at - as you said - 125+ scrimmage yards, 7-8 catches, and a healthy dose of touchdowns. Perhaps I'm a bit optimistic, but if you extrapolate from his current workload, it's not inconceivable. What's insane is the he's still barely on the field on 3rd downs. And he will be. So if I understand your dynasty logic correctly (based on other threads), you are of the mind that Rice > Richardson, correct? Again, not putting words in your mouth - just that I was under the impression given your other dynasty threads that in trade you always prefer the better talent.Richardson owner in my league is willing to trade Richardson and change for Rice. 1. Unfortunately, I don't play in your league. In MY league, Rice leads Richardson 120.6 to 95.8, which is a 6.2 ppg advantage, or 25% more points per game, however you'd rather slice it. Rice had more points through 3 games than Richardson has through 4. 2. Rice is 25. Richardson is 22. 25 - 22 = 3. 3 != 6. Using some sort of "years remaining" calculation such as the ones employed by Couch Potato or Chase, we're probably looking at an expected difference in career length of 2 years. 3. Infinity is an awfully big number. Since 2009, Rice is averaging 123 yards per game. That's plenty talented enough for my purposes. Not close.
I'm a believer in heavily weighting the talent component, but the talent component is not 100%. I don't have Roethlisberger and JStew in the top 5 at their respective positions, which is what their talent would demand. Situation still matters some. Rice's situation has him dramatically more productive in the short term (beyond just this season, IMO). Richardson gets dinged a bit because he plays for the Browns, who are fantasy career killers. I wouldn't be surprised to see Richardson follow the Steven Jackson career path- obviously one of the best talents in the league whose best years are spent carrying a poor franchise on his back and underwhelming in fantasy. I think Richardson is more talented than Rice, but it's extremely close (Rice gets underrated because, to borrow an EBFism, he's sneaky good while someone like Richardson is more freaky good). Meanwhile, Rice is in a much better position to succeed. If both players were the same age, I don't think we'd even be having this conversation. As it stands, Rice is older, but if guys like MJD and Peterson are any indication, he's easily got 3 more top-5 finishes left in his legs. At least. So if I understand your dynasty logic correctly (based on other threads), you are of the mind that Rice > Richardson, correct? Don't get what's so weird about it. Rice is proven, absurdly productive, extremely talented, and plenty young. Richardson is in a much worse situation. Is there anyone who would disagree with any of these points? Because otherwise, it sounds like we all agree on all of the factors, and just disagree on how heavily to weight them.Really weird analysis.
