True Detective: Tom went in to listen to the Cardinals game...in November. Mmmmmhmmmm... (1 Viewer)

There's just nobody to like so far.

Velcoro is the one they've spent the most time on, to establish he's violent, corrupt and a bad husband / father, without any offset to make up for those faults. Tough to take VV seriously, he's best doing the tongue in cheek gangster thing, like "helping" that guy after the accident & beatdown. The "Vaughanologue" rat story didn't really work for me.

RM's character has potential but not explored as yet and and Motocop just seems to be sleepwalking. After two episodes, I don't really care what happens to any of these people yet.

An ode to Taylor Kitsch's character in True Detective...whatever the #### his name is.

Ridin' through this world, all alone

My nympho Latina, she got gone

Because I brood, night and day

White chick wants to suck me off, that's okay

*twang*

If McAdams don't lay, then I must be gay

"They should have got Owen Wilson to play moto-homo"
Or like, anybody else. He's kind of brutal. I don't think VV is that bad, just that since he usually does deadpan type delivery in comic roles it's kind of hard to take him seriously. He's miscast is all. Tim Riggins looks deader than Bernie, in that weekend thing.
You go to Iraq and let's see how you look when you return.

Ridin' through this world, with no headlight

Broke up with Burrito, got in a fight

Detectivin' is hard! Went to the bank

This dude made eyes at me, was almost shanked

*shot of freeway intersection*

Gonna try and get with Knife Girl, when Bolo Tie's tanked

Only SOA intro lyrics can save this thread.

Ridin' through this world, board game in my hand

Don't want no DNA test, head stuck in the sand

I don't think I need that type of analysis

Drinkin' all the time, might need some dialysis

*cut to shot of Velcoro passed out*

Blowin' off my #### with rock salt is a symbolic paralysis

Adjust your contrast, Farnsworth.
What if the rest of the show is just fine ...you know, contrast-wise? That's on the director/editor man.

I'm totally ok with Vince Vaughn in this. Sounds like you jabronis need to forget his past roles.

Colin Farrell is awesome as always.

Rachel McAdams is good and makes my pants tight. Also the best ### in show business.

That Taylor Laughtner guy is a total stiff though. Just awful.

But the one theme that's running and right is that these people are thoroughly unlikeable. Cohle and Hart were both extraordinarily flawed, but you still cared about them. A lot. But even if they weren't, the story was still compelling. This one doesn't really have either so far.

Still totally in though.

At what point does any detective become such hot #### that heads of all law enforcement and the mayor is kissing his ### and is the center point of every meeting?

This alcoholic mess isn't batman.

I noticed nothing wrong about the opening scene.

Laughter was pretty bad in Football Lights too.

In all seriousness, I thought I had a nice plasma, and mine was all pixellated. Couldn't handle the darks, which has been the television's main problem, really. Justified did the same thing to it. Or it's the contrast and direction, as Binky said. All I know is that the scene was tough to watch for many reasons. I thought of The Departed and the rat symbolism a bit.

No, that's on you.

We all saw the scene as intended.

You guys should get checked for cataracts. The scene was fine.

The mayor is basically a mob boss with a title. Colin Farrell is a lead henchman.
That crew that just had him in the office were all "straight" cops but the mayor though right?

I really think it's my television not being able to handle it. Great for sports, but the grainier, darker scenes aren't that great on it.

I'll update you guys about how my television handles the grainier shots in episode three late next Sunday. Set your alarm clocks.

I'd say obvs Farrell's boss is dirty, the skinny tall guy, but not sure which scene you're talking about. I'd assume everyone in the city government is dirty.

But the scene with McAdams interviewing him, she's obviously clean. So to speak.

I like to think she's dirty...really dirty.

Redheads are always the freakiest.

Only skimmed the last few pages....

So people think Ray is dead? Vest, rubber bullets.... I'm not buying he's dead. It would be pretty ####### cool if he was though.

Someone mentioned previews from next week and I hard deleted that comment. THAT IS WAY PREVIEWS ARE SPOILERS PEOPLE!!!!!

Motorcycle guy is twisted. He killed the city planner so he could find him later and then get on a big case that would let him get back on the bike.

I'm hoping I'm wrong since season 1 was so good.... but there is just nothing that interests me about this season at all. I'm still not sure what the story is about, nor do I really care to find out. None of the characters or plot-lines are even remotely interesting to me. I actually fell asleep during the last episode (luckily I woke up in time for Ballers). I'd have more patience if there were 12-14 episodes but since there are only 8 and this season is already 25% over, I don't have much hope. We are only watching because season 1 was so good, if this was the first season the show would already be cancelled.

I'm sure there's an episode of Ballers you could watch.

I'd be fine with rubber bullets.

Taking a cop down must be a last resort for an organization trying to remain in the shadows. Yes, the whole incident brings attention but maybe this was the lesser of two evils.
