True Detective: Tom went in to listen to the Cardinals game...in November. Mmmmmhmmmm... (2 Viewers)

Re: geography:

The maids at Ani's dad's nutty institute said that Vera's working the "club circuit' in Sonoma, which is in the Russian River valley (part of Marin County, north of San Francisco), and if you remember correctly, the city manager's secretary said he was going up to Monterey and the Russian River quite a bit. So the Vera and Caspere threads might cross paths at some point.

Also, Ventura County (where Caspere is found and where Ani works) is west of LA, between downtown Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Main cities are Oxnard, Simi Valley (Rodney King trial!) and Thousand Oaks.

Vaughn/Farrell scene in the bar

Indeed passes him a photo and address (caught that the first time), but this line confuses me: "I wanted to do it, now it's done."

CF/Velcoro "What do you want from me?"

Vaughn "Me?"

CF "Yeah."

Vaughn "Not a thing. Maybe we'll talk sometime. Maybe not."

The passing of the photo and address leads one to believe Velcoro took the guy out, but the quote, "I wanted to do it, now it's done" is vague and implies Vaughn had him killed. (Or at least did something more than just give Velcoro an address.) Regardless, if this guy is a lit professor, he's probably pretty aware how vague the pronoun "it" is in that circumstance.
Agree it's intentionally vague at this point.

My initial reaction was Vaughn had him killed.

But how to explain the address?

I suppose we shall find out.
I think it's pretty obvious that Seymeon was simply handing over an ID. I'm surprised so many here inferred that he eliminated the guy.

Velcoro would absolutely want personal revenge. He would not be happy or feel indebted if Seymeon took that away from him. And Seymeon would certainly know this. Further, Seymeon has nothing on Velcoro if he doesn't let Velcoro handle the retribution.

Of course the question remains open whether Seymeon gave up the true culprit.

Fair enough. You say it's obvious, others say there is room for different interpretations.

Yes. And duh

One definite plus so far is the depiction of cops as they truly are.

Degenerate psychopaths drawn to a profession that gives them free reign to wreak havoc.

Or well intentioned souls who are corrupted by the former.

Didn't you just love that scene in Caspere's office talking to the new admin when they asked for a list of all Caspere's properties?"I guess it's ok to give them to you"

"Of course it's ok. We're the police!"

McAdams is definitely nothing to get excited about by Hollywood standards. She delivered the least ridiculous lines from the first episode so there's that.

So it's a show about velcro?
No, no, no... it's a play on words. Like you've heard of the Teflon Don? Well, this is the Velcro cop. Everything sticks to him. hth.
Oh, so that's why he's raising Ritchie Cunningham's son as his own?
I would have gone with Danny Partridge.
That fat kid on that one commercial in the '70s.

Mason something. Reese?
He likes it, Hey Mikey!

I think we all know how this season is going to end by now

Aspen shoots up a school and Velcro has to come in and take him down. Vince Vaughn sheds a single tear over the unspeakable atrocity. Fin.

Never got the McAdams love, either. Sure she's cute, but she's joined the pantheon of all-time overrated Hollywood eye-candy.
She never did anything for me before, and I'm kind of having a little fun with those who think it really matters that she doesn't look like this all the time, but she is kinda hot here.. I guess I like seeing an overrated romcommer go gritty

a partially scrambled nipple on tv is hot to 99% of the guys here, the other 1% (em) cover their eyes.

In a full deviation from Occam's razor, maybe Vaughn cleaned up Farrell's mess many years ago because Farrell couldn't bring himself to kill his wife's rapist and that's why Vaughn knows that Farrell won't go overboard and kill the reporter -- and maybe it's also why Farrell is indebted to Vaughn in some way.

Just food for thought.
