Tush Push - still legal, Philly fans begin to heal after rough year (2 Viewers)

When it comes to the "tush push," I don't see Eagles fans melting down, per se.
There are more posts in this thread from eagles fans whining about haters than there are posts from anyone complaining about the stupid tush push

I mean, it’s par for the course here, but it’s true

CoPilot came up with some really good points about the Tush Push.

Ah, the infamous "tush push" debate—it’s like the pineapple-on-pizza argument of football. Here's some ammo for your retort:
  1. Skill and Strategy: The "tush push" isn't just brute force; it requires precise timing, coordination, and execution. If it were that simple, every team would dominate with it. The Eagles, for example, have mastered it because of their unique personnel and preparation.
  2. Fair Play: The NFL removed the rule against pushing the ball carrier back in 2006. Teams like the Eagles are simply exploiting a legal tactic. Penalizing them for being innovative feels like punishing success.
  3. Injury Concerns Are Overblown: While critics argue it increases injury risk, there's no substantial data proving it's more dangerous than other plays. Football is inherently physical—this play is no exception.
  4. Entertainment Value: Some claim it's boring or "rugby-like," but fans love seeing their team convert crucial downs. If anything, it adds drama to the game.
BladeRunner might just be salty because his team can’t pull it off. Let him know that banning the "tush push" would be like banning Steph Curry from shooting threes—punishing excellence instead of encouraging competition.

It doesn't matter what you post to explain away the fact the Eagles are cheating - if the runner is being assisted and pushed forward by other players that is, in fact, illegal.

It is what it is and at some point you'll have to accept that. Like I said, I understand the push-back. I mean, seriously. Who feels good about a victory illegally obtained? So the best thing to do is pretend it's not happening or use pretzel-logic to justify it. I think most of you KNOW that it's not right but don't want to admit it.

Is that what they call cognitive dissonance?
I can't tell if this is schtick or not at this point
It has to be or BR needs professional help.

When it comes to the "tush push," I don't see Eagles fans melting down, per se. Unless, of course, certain individuals insist on provoking them. The reality is, the Eagles will continue to have a short-yardage advantage with or without this play.

To be honest, I just hope the haters finally move on. The constant negativity and jealousy are not only unproductive but incredibly tiring. Let’s focus on enjoying the game and celebrating what makes football exciting, rather than dwelling on the same old arguments. It's time to leave the bitterness behind and let the sport speak for itself.
Frankly, I would love it if the play got banned. It would mean the Iggles were so. damn. good. they had to ban one of their plays to make it even on the field.

Its hard to stay sober constantly celebrating cheating the league out of its rightful winner

We've reached the "Do you accept the results of the Super Bowl from the 2024 season" part now eh
O/U number of posts until this thread is shut down for political issues? Betting line is 9.5
Eh there is no political content, just people arguing about it in a political style, its all good I'm having fun with it. The Eagles statistically were better at QB sneaks before the Tush Push so, I mean, in the grand scheme of things, this is at least entertaining.

The fact that I make one post every few days and at least a dozen Eagles fans rush in and accuse me of being a troll or hater is absurd, IMO. The personal attacks against me are proof enough that they KNOW this play is illegal and problematic.

However, there is actual justification to outright ban this play because clearly other players assisting the ball carrier over the goal line and it's not in the spirit of the game either. Cheating by any other name ("tush push") is still cheating.

Keep talking about nothing but Eagles fans though, you simply can't get through a day without it.

"Gaining momentum" probably means 4-6 teams are considering voting against it. I can't see 24/32 teams deciding to get rid of it.
It used to be 1 team, now it's more. That's what "gaining momentum" means. The numbers are increasing.
Crazy how many teams are OK with the 🦅's stealing the Super Bowl through cheating!
You probably think you're pretty smart with your little quip there, but YOU interpreted that incorrectly. There is, in fact, momentum in ENDING the tush-push, not voting against the ban. Sounds like more teams are not OK with the 🦅s cheating after all.

I accept your apology.

Been out of thread for awhile. Been over at bladerunners moms house. Good times

Thanks for confirming you really know the play is illegal.

When you have to attack the messenger that usually means they struck a nerve so rather than face the truth or debate the point you personally attack the guy.

And while I'm game for a good "yur momma" joke, this is beyond pale considering the context of the conversation.

Your Mom is so fat
How fat is she?

Ya mama is so big and fat that she can busy
with twenty-two burritos but times are rough
I seen her in the back of Taco Bell with handcuffs

The sad fact ya mama smokes crack
She got a burning yearning and there's no turning back
Her knuckles drag down to the ground when walk
Spit comes out the ***** mouth when she talk

Naked on a mountain top, tootin' on a flute
Ridin' on a horse drinking whiskey out a boot
She got the wings and teeth of an African bat
Her middle name is Mudbone and on top of all that

Ya mama got a glass eye with a fish in it
(Ya mama got a glass eye with a fish in it)
Ya mama, ya mama, ya mama

Thank you for acknowledging just. how. many. teams are in-fact OK with the Eagles Super Bowl Steal. As long as the number of teams voting with the stealing iggles don't outnumber the pure and righteous minority, more Lombardi swiping days are in front of us!

No hate. Just telling it like it is. You see, people can point things out without "hating" something so don't confuse your inability to discuss things rationally with people hating.

In regards to the first one - jury is still out. That one was probably more of a fluke than anything.

BladeRunner, Your relentless commentary on the "tush push" has officially hit its expiration date. I'm starting to think you're stuck in a loop. Are we sure you're not an AI? While I’ll admit there’s a certain comedic charm to your deadpan delivery, it’s a toss-up between "you're hilariously dry" and "please, stop before I resort to plague-level avoidance tactics."

Like I said previously, I get the push back. No one who supports the Eagles wants to believe they may have won illegitimately.

So believe me when I tell you that I understand the feverish posts to dismiss me, attack me, roll the eyes or pretend that the conversation has expired. It hasn't. The league has even said so.

Sirianni on the tush-push vote: "All I will say ... is Gannon, Steichen and Moore better vote for it. They are in the (HC) position right now because of that play. So all 3, I better have those 3 votes right there and the Eagles vote. I at least know we have 4"

"We"? I'm not even sure the starting quarterback respects you. Sounds like Big Dom is about to go knocking on some doors at the owners meetings.

I definitely don't support them, but what did they win illegitimately? The game I watched that was 40-6 at one point?

If I accept that the Tush Push is a bogus play, at the very worst it gives them an edge because they're better at it than everyone else (who is also allowed to use that play). Maybe like having an excellent kicker than can boot them from 60 yards out. It might come up a few times, and it's a help when it does. But there's the rest of the game to deal with.

I'd say the Cowboys having Brandon Aubrey over an opponent's scrub is as valuable, and it didn't do much for them.

The play doesn't bother me and I don't care what the league does with it. But if every team can do it, it's only an advantage because they're better at it. So it seems fair enough to me.

GB Packers: whiny snitches
Well, it's literally a form of cheating, so there's that.

The Eagles will always have an asterisk next to their win. It's unfortunate, but what can you do?
Apparently you are unfamiliar with the definition of "literally."

Cheating? Are you sure? Or are you just wish-casting?

No cheating. No asterisk. Just complete domination of the former champs.

By the way, over the last three years exactly ZERO injuries have occurred during the running of this play, by any team. This fact has been confirmed by the NFL's competition committee. So, that whole "injury risk" talking point, one of the main reasons for elimination of the play, is not even a salient point. In fact, it is one of the safer plays as players have no room to build up speed and collide even harder, which is what happens on all other plays.

Careful. Dont push back too hard on bladerunner. He will report you for hurting his feelings and try to get you suspended. Thats how he rolls. Also hes a giant hater. At one point if you looked at his posts, 99 percent of them were talking crap about the eagles. Actually you can still see them now if you look at his profile. Hes a sad man
Blade doesn’t report people. We’ve gotten into really rough debates in the past and he’s never brought it to the mods. Zero. Ever. If you want to make accusations like that, better back it up.

And he’s not an Eagles hater — he’s a Packers homer. It’s that simple. Eagles fans are so thin-skinned they just can’t handle anyone criticizing a single thing about their team.

:goodposting:

You'd think a Lions fan would be all about his team finding plays like this where they don't want their QB throwing the ball b/c bad things happen. Everything that was said about Jalen Hurts as far as "inability to throw the ball in big moments" just turned out to be true about Jared Goff.

So I get the pain.

Further cementing the issue. Looks like it could have a decent chance to succeed:

Per John Breech, CBS sports as well:
Proposal to have the 'Tush Push' banned. This one is pretty simple: The Packers want the "Tush Push" out of the NFL. So how would this rule work? It would prohibit an offensive player from pushing a teammate who takes the snap from center. According to ESPN.com, the competition committee actually supports this proposal, which is only notable, because proposals have a better chance of passing if the committee supports them. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said that he expects at least four coaches to vote for KEEPING the "Tush Push,"

I think 18.5 is a good line. However, I think the vote will easily go 23+ in favor of keeping the stealin iggles Tushie Pushie play

I think 18.5 is a good line. However, I think the vote will easily go 23+ in favor of keeping the stealin iggles Tushie Pushie play
So my question is, assuming it is NOT banned, is this just going to be like ya know, in politics when one side doesn't like a law, they just keep throwing case after case, slightly tweaking the language each time, until ya know, the Supreme Court finally hears it overturns it (should be noted there are quite a few "Eagles" up in the higher ranks like Troy Vincent and Jon Runyan), aka is this just gonna stay the execution of the play one more season and eventually, enough people become soft.

The article above was really good. It outlines how intepretation of the proposal will be basically impossible. It is my understanding this is why the league got rid of the whole "cant push someone forward" rule to begin with.

I could see some level of "need to be 1 or 2 years behind the QB at the snap. However, there is still so much ambiguity in there which makes it dumb. And again, the whole reason people want to ban this is because either "they don't have a QB who can do it" or "they don't like the look of the play"
