UFC wagering: no longer stuck with the old thread title. The window to change it is here! (5 Viewers)

Fuel, what a bunch of jerks. they have the post show, and before they cut to commercial they have a camera in Munoz's face as he is crying his eyes out. Give the guy some privacy, geez

hmm, this one sounds like fun:

TUF UK vs. Australia will be Ross Pearson vs. George Sotiropolous. could be fun. i couldn't get into UFC Brazil with the subtitles, and i am sure subtitles will be needed for UK vs. Aus, but it will be fun to get the gist of it. Hopefully Fuel and the contracts can work something out and they can play the show before the finale this time

Also Nelson and Carwin announced for TUF this fall. From the article I read they don't seem to like each other very much. Didn't know that...hopefully it's "real". Welterweights on the show.

I know u guys rip the Fuel team...but I don't know, I'm damn impressed with Sonnen. He's not mentioned here like Kenny or glazer or bonner so maybe he's liked.

Weidman was great and maybe deserves a shot...but imagine the hype if he crushes Belcher and Silva beats anyone. Off the charts...changing of the guard.

Nelson is been pretty out spoken against PEDs and has taken shots at Carwin for getting busted.ETA: From Aug. 2010
Roy Nelson – “Just woke up and was reading the mma news websites and only one had real news ufc champ shane carwin steroids court case. I am surprised that athletes in mma do steroids ;( that explains body types.”Shane Carwin – “I love Roy Nelson trying to elevate his status by talking smacks. Hopefully he is doing so on a treadmil. Some have rolls he has a bakery.”

Even with that it still seems like a really strange pick. Neither guy is especially close to even challenge for the title, and Carwin comes off as pretty darn boring for TV.

Yeah, definitely wouldn't have been my picks for it. I'd love to see a Leben vs Koschek. Neither are going anywhere title wise but it would make for great TV and an easy fight to sell.ETA: Different weight classes but I'm pretty sure neither would mind.

Dana should have just let Forrest and Bonnar do it.

That's not a bad idea with Leben-Koscheck. Would have been a great time to do Mayhem-Nick Diaz too with Diaz being suspended for a year. I think the UFC learned about hyping fights with guys, just to have them get injured during the show like Cruz or Brock. Now that i think about it, Mayhem-Diaz would have been a great way to boost the ratings there, and the only loss to that idea is that the fight between Diaz-Mayhem isn't nearly as exciting as it used to be. But man, would that have been a fun show. and Bobcat, I like Sonnen too. He isn't as over the top and he adds some good points. Just feels like Sonnen and Florian are more of cheer leaders, and my issues with Florian is he is too much of a fanboy for color commentary, and he spends too much time hyping something rather then actually adding anything to the fight. He has some good moments, but they get overshadowed by his annoying stuff. I think Rogan does a real nice job of this since he is a huge fan of the sport, and he'll come out and say something as a fan, but he gets back to critically analyzing the fight soon after. Rogan and Goldy can be a little subjective at times with guys they like, but outside of that i think they are a solid grade still over Anik and Florian. Hell, I am not sure but Mauro and those knuckleheads may be better then Anik and Florian. At least they are better then Tito's color commentary.

Mayhem Miller?? Really? What's the draw here? To watch him put on a ####ty fight and gas after 30 seconds. Found him boring as #### on TUF previously (so entertainment value isn't there either)

If you want to talk ####, be best if you've actually done something.....anything in the organization.

As much as I hate Bisping, at least he shows up to fight after he talks.

Mayhem's a minor league fighter. Nothing more than that. Was a complete joke in the UFC. He's not worth bringing back. Bringing him back, you may as well bring back Kimbo Slice too.

The main and co main events look to be set for UFC 152.

First flyweight title in UFC history will be the main event.

Joseph Benavidez vs Demetrious Johnson

The co-main event will be

Michael Bisping vs Brian Stann

It is going to be so hard for the audience to choose a guy to cheer for in the co-main event. ;)

Also listed on this card will be

BJ Penn vs Rory MacDonald.

This could be ugly. Not sure if this is official yet but appears to be pretty close.

I think i will be riding High, Mein and Larkin for the card tonight. Might also take some others. I think the main event of Rockhold-Kennedy should be pretty good. And good test for Woodley going against Marquardt, and Larkin-Lawlor could be a fun one to watch too

This is the least talked about card in quite some time. Almost feels like Zuffa is sabotaging Strikeforce. They are tons of opportunities to cross promote the last couple weeks, and they only threw this card some commercial time on the Fuel show. Strikeforce had a nice peak right when they announced their heavyweight tournament. It has been all down hill from there.

Yeah, it has been pretty crazy. I know there were some issues because of the contract with Showtime, but they do need to make a plan and put it out there. Tim kennedy had a good rant about it (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/ben_fowlkes/06/27/tim-kennedy-strikeforce/index.html and http://www.mmafighting.com/2012/7/14/3159209/seven-ways-of-looking-at-strikeforce-rockhold-vs-kennedy), and very justifiably so. If you don't want to click on either, the gist of it is Kennedy has been thinking about going back to active duty since his career is literally going nowhere with Strikeforce. Really doesn't matter too much if he wins or loses, because people really won't care. And it is hard to argue with his points

Round 1: Stinson charges forward on the feet early, while Mein sits back and elects to counter. A Mein straight right already opens a cut on Stinson's eye. Mein continues to work from distance, landing repeated one-twos. Stinson right eye is bloodied and swelling shut, and Mein is taking advantage. Mein drops low, slips a jab, then lands a sharp counter left. Another exchange closes the round and Stinson definitely looks worse for wear. MMA Fighting scores it 10-9 for Mein.

those three gashes on stinsons eye looks nasty as hell when they wiped the blood away. his whole left side of his face was bloody the whole time.

So far so good...

I wish I had gotten home in time to drop $$ on High. And didn't have (couldn't find?) a line on Mein. :kicksrock:

Looks like this might be a slow night for cashing in.

 Strikeforce cards are really different then the UFC cards regarding betting. With the prelims, the favorites win an overwhelmingly majority of the time. Their cards are more set-up to showcase fighters, where the UFC sets up good match-ups for the entire card. Also think I'm ready to give back the money i won on the prelims, so here are some plays that i probably shouldn't even make. Adding to Larkin with:Jardine +160 - this guy is old and washed up, but he is still a wiley veteran. Risking .33 units here because it is probably a bad bet, but I'll give it a go.

Still thinking about the last 2 on the main card. I like Rockhold to win, but the fight is much closer then the line is giving Kennedy credit for. If Rockhold was closer to -130 or so i would pull the trigger, but with Kennedy at +250 he is awfully tempting. And i will hopefully use good judgement on Woodley-Marquardt and lay off it. Woodley is the kind of fighter that can give Nate trouble with his top notch wrestling, and i don't know what to expect from Nate tonight. He hasn't fought in a long time, has fought guys much better then Ty, but it is hard to guess what to expect from this one

does Larkin get the finish tonight
i don't know, Robbie won't quit. Or at least he wouldn't, but he is getting up there, and he is one of those guys who has been a long time and is probably still fighting for the paycheck because he needs it. He is hard to finish, and Larkin is much more of a technical striker then a power striker. If the fight gets finished early, it will probably be because Lawlor KO'd Larkin. Will be a fun fight to watch though. It's a another strange thing with the Strikeforce cards, there really aren't many of them anymore so it is hard to keep up with everybody all the time

he said once about this sport, "just follow the money"

not to buzzkill but I took gracie for a few units

good word is that omney looks like its coming in on larkin too

*money

ugh, i haven't watched enough of Larkin. his stand-up defense is horrible, he has zero head movement :scared: Not good against a guy liked Lawlor who just throws home run shots

Larkin's right = :moneybag:
Yup, 3-0 night feels good. Larkin needs quite a bit of work though, glad he got it tonightETA: and i see Kennedy is +275, way too much credit for Rockhold so i'll take it for .33 unit. If Jardine or Kennedy win it will work out +, and even if both lose we're still fine with a solid night

If/when Gracie wins this, I hope they give him the next title shot. I anticipate him coming in as a considerable underdog, and i think he can do well against Rockhold or Kennedy. His stand-up looks better each fight he is in

clock ticks slow as #### with the assumption that your man won the 1st two rounds
Roger definitely won, but giving Gracie all 3 rounds is silly. I like the 29-27 score, with Roger getting one of those first 2 rounds 10-8, but I don't know how you could score the 3rd for Gracie. Luckily it doesn't matter, but it is literally like 2 of the judges got bored and didn't even watch the 3rd round

gotta hit woodley$109.02 $99.11 Pending 7/14/12 11:00pm Reduced Fighting 2101 Tyron Woodley -110* vs Nate Marquardt
yeah, i think he takes it too, but really hard to count Nate out. Especially with a 5 rounder. Nate packs some power in his shots too, Good test for Woodley

Mauro "I know it's berry season, but you're supposed to pick 'em not kick 'em". Have to admit, i liked that one :lmao:
