Benson will need therapy after that one. Not only does he continue to get haunted by Pettis, but he is forced to tap in the 1st.
my feed was dead the whole time, i've been looking forward to this fight for months  . anybody have cliff notes???
Henderson working on a single leg against the cage for a couple mins, they break, pettis lands 4 HARD body kicks, then goes for some crazy capoiera kick that fails, BH winds up in pettis' guard.....Pettis quickly slaps an armbar and has both arms trapped, Henderson rolled over and verbally submits as he cant move any arms.

Benson did well for the first half of the round, fight got back on its feet, Pettis started nailing Benson with some stiff body kicks, then got taken to the ground when he tried to went all showtime.

Pettis quickly snapped on an armbar, Benson tried to fight out of it, but verbally tapped after it started popping with about 30 seconds left in the 1st round.

Hendo came out early and pressed him against the cage a lot. Pettis eventually got free and hit a series of body kicks like he did against Cerrone and they clearly hurt. He got another one in with the Capoiera kick, but they went to the ground with Hendo in Pettis's guard. Pettis snapped off an armbar attempt and Hendo tapped verbally after getting his arm snapped.

thanks, 3 quick one's. i'm sure there will be clips around with it being so quick. Benson has to be pissed losing twice. and calling out Aldo, i like that a lot

No clue how there was a 30-27 against Kang. I thought he won the fight actually, but 30-27 is ridic.

That Lim dude was pretty impressive.

Doubt Mir would have survived the Barnett onslaught, but might have been a quick stoppage.

Glad Poirier won and he looked pretty solid.

Pettis calls out Aldo...can they put both on the line???!!

About to watch the last two fights that were on FS1......

Mendes got KO of the night? really?

Apparently Lim - Pascal got FoTN. Not liking the way Dana is giving out these bonuses. Seems like he wants to reward two guys just standing in the middle of the ring swinging at each other instead of rewarding a really good fight like Poirier - Koch.

I would've give KO bonus to Lim or Barnett. Those were much better, IMO.

Questions about Aldo vs Pettis if it comes to pass:

*Have two belts ever been contested before in UFC?

*If they allow this, do they open the door to a ton of scheduling issues where if one guy holds both belts it would be roughly 6 months between defending the individual ones?

*If they do fight, do they pick a weight un between their classes?

they sort all this out. There isn't a way for both belts to be up at the same time, whatever weight they fight at is likely the belt that will be contested. BJ Penn was close to a situation with holding 2 belts before, and that was when Dana said if you want to fight another belt you have to give your current one up. They have enough issues with injuries clogging up titles, so i am sure they will make whatever provisions they can to not let titles get held up, especially since both have a list of contenders waiting. and the weight class is part of the negotiations, not sure which would be the preferred one to see them at. I think Pettis can hit 145 without too much problem, so maybe there.

And i would like to see them book this fight, even though it does screw things up for the guys that have been waiting. I think TJ Grant is the one who can get most screwed by this, but if he is open, i would like to see them book Aldo-Pettis, Grant and either Melendez or bendo, and Lamas-Mendes. Without a doubt, Aldo winning that belt brings a lot more fun to the 155 pounders now, there are a lot of good match-ups to make. i would love to see Melendez-Henderson again to see if melendez can win the fight this time.

On the bold, do you mean Pettis or are you referring to Aldo beating Pettis at lightweight in a future fight?

well both now that i think about it, but I meant Pettis. although actually, i would rather see Aldo at 145 a bit more. The one i would like to see the most is Swanson-Aldo again. That first fight for Cub was just horrible for him, but i think he is one of the guys who came into the UFC and has gotten significantly better. I would love to see him, and Mendes, both get another crack at Aldo

Herb Dean said after the fight that he did not hear Bendo's verbal tap. Dean said that when Bendo did not dispute it after Pettis let go, he just let it stand.

It was one of the stranger ending as the ref, the announcers and the audience did not know Bendo verbally tapped.

WTF?

Why did he stop it then?

My only guess would be that he heard Benson's arm start to pop?
It was Pettis who felt it pop I think. Dean was still trying to get close at that time. Here are Dean's full comments:

Saturday night's UFC 164 main event ended in abrupt fashion when Anthony Pettis made Benson Henderson verbally tap from an armbar in the first round. The only problem with the ending was that the tap wasn't clear.

Referee Herb Dean didn't hear Henderson saying the words tap, so when Pettis let the hold go and jumped atop the cage, he risked a situation where the fight could have been restarted. However, Henderson didn't protest, as his arm had popped, and he had the integrity to stand by that submission even though Dean hadn't stepped in.

"I think people should always wait for me to touch them," Dean cautioned in an interview with MMAFighting.com. "Just to be on the safe side I would advise that fighter not to get up unless the referee has touched them. It all worked out but we have situations where guys stop fighting and the referee has not stopped the fight. Then they have to start fighting again. We definitely don't want situations like that, especially in championship fights."

Saturday's result was clear in the immediate seconds after Pettis let go of the hold, but with Dean not hearing the tap, Henderson saying tap could have not held up if he reacted like he hadn't tapped. Thankfully for all involved, that didn't happen, and Dean felt he was in a spot to call it based on their reactions.

"The armbar was on tight, the arm was going," he said. "I knew the tap was coming, and the arm bar was definitely done... I saw [Pettis] lock the armbar in and [Henderson] was trying to defend it. He was reaching across, and he went belly down. I was moving and trying to get into a better position and at that time, that's when the tap came. And [Pettis] got up and immediately started celebrating."

"I guess where people weren't knowing exactly what happened is usually they're used to see me grab the guy and then wave it off. But he got up so quick that I didn't get a chance to do that."

I'm looking forward to the new TUF season. I don't really care about the male/female dynamic, but am interested in seeing the ladies train and fight. Plus, Rousey and Tate really do hate each other.

yeah, i've been excited for this one for awhile. i hope it lives up to it. 1st women's fight looks real good

Nice win by Glover but damn he looks slow.
I am continuously unimpressed by him. Bader had him stunned right before the big lughead runs in wildly to get KO'd again. I would like to see Glover have to fight somebody in the top 5 or ranked again before Jones. he'll get destroyed

one of the best personalities in all of MMA is Roxxi Modaferri, the girl has been around Women's MMA for awhile and she really is a joy to cheer for. Hope she makes the house

she does :) . definitely a good person to look up on some of the MMA blogs if you have free time

yeah, really enjoying this season of TUF. there are so many great stories with the women, with somebody like Shana Bazler who has been fighting forever and seeing her get on the show. If i'm the girl facing her to get in the show, i'm just pissed. i hope some of these women who don't get on the show get a shot at Invicta or something. Just real good for MMA and Women's MMA overall

is nobody else watching this :sadbanana: . the women on this show are just nasty. Is absolutely the best thing about Women's MMA, realizing these women would easily kick the crap out of us in less then 5 minutes.

whew, and here she is.....Tara LaRosa. just hope she isn't too old at this point

ok, i might just be in a weird mood, but this one has me emotionally invested. it's crazy that these people have to try to create a story for the show, but there are some good one's out there. Last season had me invested with Uriah Hall and stuff, but i haven't enjoyed TUF this much since the early days of the show.

Of course I'm watching. Meisha makes me happy inside.

Good fights for the most part.

Something about the mix of fight night, in Brazil and prelims that is so blah to me. It is probably because I have such little knowledge of the lower level Brazilian guys. I thought the main card was decent though.

Good first episode for TUF. Tate was much better on camera than Rousey was speaking. Seemed more comfortable. Rousey said yesterday that the edit it going to make her look bat-#### crazy.

I enjoyed some of the fights yesterday but not one male fighter jumped out at me. Some of those women are monsters size wise. One was 5'11 I think and still made 135. The women varied in height significantly while the guys were much closer in height.

TUF was excellent this week. Hope it keeps up all season. Really can't remember enjoying it this much in a long time.

Ready for Souza vs Weidman/Silva. Dudes a beast.

I loved it. Next weeks fight should be pretty good.

Been Watching TUF for a long time, and that was an excellent episode. I have no idea why I am so in to these women fights, they all just seem badass. I was bored by the men, should have made it all female.

UFC 167 is starting to take some shape. Strong on name power at least

Welterweight Georges St-Pierre © vs. Johny Hendricks

L. Heavyweight Rashad Evans vs Chael Sonnen

Heavyweight Frank Mir vs Alistair Overeem

Welterweight Rory MacDonald vs. Robbie Lawler

Welterweight Josh Koscheck vs. Tyron Woodley

Nice.

No way Sonnen can outwrestle Evans.

Overeem vs Mir aka battle of the two HWs who desperately need a win.

Also, I just watched TUF on dvr last night. pretty solid.

It took me 3 or 4 fights before I realized that "black top" / "blue top" / "red top" in their 'tale of the tape' stats were not the camps they were fighting out of.

"Why are all these fighters coming out of this camp I've never hea.......oh. right. their shirt colors." :bag:

What's the story with Dominick Cruz? I see on ufc.com that he's still listed as the champion but has he fought since he got injured during TUF? How long has it been since he's fought, and is he ever going to fight again? I really liked him on TUF and would like to root for him but is he ever coming back?

It is confusing. Barao is recognized as the interim Bantamweight champion. I don't know how long they wait in a case like this. Last I saw was that Cruz was looking at a long rehab around the beginning of 2013.

Cruz has not fought since Oct 2011 when he defended the belt against Demetrious Johnson.

He should be stripped IMO. You can't be out this long and still hold the belt, cheapens what Barao is doing.

I still hope he comes back and fights though.

That's kind of my thinking, too. It's one thing to not lose the belt because of injury but 2 years? Get rid of this Interim crap.

He was 7 months into recovery from that TUF injury his body rejected the cadaver ACL. He had to have it done again, essentially resetting his clock. Current estimates have him still at 6-8 months away from returning.
