UFL spring football (XFL and USFL merge) (1 Viewer)

Underdog being an official partner and not running contests is a social media discussion today
What does this mean exactly?
UFL reporters on X are pointing out that despite their sponsorship as an official partner, one can't go to underdog and participate in a UFL DFS contest.

Underdog people seem exceptionally good people.

It's possible they're bringing negative attention to the UFL brand unintentionally. We'll have to see how the public perceives all this
Ah got it. They run fantasy contests, sponsor the UFL, but don’t run any UFL contests at all. Makes sense.

There are so few teams and players of note in the UFL that I can understand that though. I assume betting props or betting lines Vegas style is more appropriate for a league like the UFL instead of things like fantasy football contests. Does Underdog do prop bets and stuff like that and they’re still not hosting any UFL action? (You can tell I have no clue about Underdog…and don’t bet on props or classic nfl spread bets either :) )
According to those guys on X, no they don't.

I haven't done UFL DFS this year

You can bet on UFL in their sportsbook in NC.

Really? That's interesting

Why on God’s green earth was this played at a neutral site??? Should’ve been the team with the best record. This is not the Super Bowl, there were like 37 people there tonight.

There's lengthy highlights on that link.

Perkins has been so hot.
I'm out of my mind tonight fired up about Taamu. Guy has been so good for like five years.
They deserve to be on NFL teams.

Abram Smith I don't much like as a runner. He's pretty average but he has improved tremendously as a blocker. He was absolutely wonderful at picking up anyone that broke free into the backfield.

The NFL is just blind if they don't see the blocking TEs in this league. Ya got the NFL guys pointing out technique (that's over my head) and I saw some TEs and Ts that should be in camps this year.

The Titans had the worst ST possibly in history last year so I'm a bit in-tune to look for it. I started the season thinking I'm overreacting but ...all year, there's plenty. All those coaches that keep a 53rd player because he's a ST demon; they need to watch UFL tape. There's a bunch that ya can't beat the hustle and effort.

They've made a lot of bad decisions this year but they've been especially open about it from day one.
They have an off-season meeting where they decide they'll do this n that and then a press release and they stick with those changes no matter what. Sometimes they bomb sometimes they're creative sometimes obvious like why don't more sports do this.

It's a big draw.
Brady and Kelce Bros seem like they'll buy a couple teams for expansion. Word is some corporations want to invest now and the league should get a healthy (not huge but good) infusion of money this offseason.

McMahon and Trump and some others in leagues over the years- they continually changed things at their whim.

Long winded but, this lack of fans, is actually good and shows them they're committed to the plan.

At a recent five tribes meeting, the Native Americans discussed investing in the league too. They have billions and already have a team play at Choctaw stadium. Surely this infusion will involve some gambling rules/laws that are negotiated and it may never happen but ...it's something to stir the pot.

New day, people catching up on Taamu and last night's game....it's just more people wondering why he isn't in the NFL.

I would trade Levis to the Defenders and take Taamu in a heartbeat and argue the trade rules don't say it can't be another league.

I would probably be able to raise a good amount of money in a GoFundMe for a QB that doesn't panic on third down and do dopey things.

His experience and development is so obvious. I would love an experienced backup.

Do you know Callahan said Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle are good QBs he'd be confident in if they had to play? I would like to throw eggs and vegetables at him like a 1950s cartoon and hold his arm behind his back as he signs Taamu and piano music plays in the background.

I'm beside myself that he's gonna be sitting at home and I've gotta watch these guys soon. (It's also why Ward looks so special, no doubt) The NFL and specifically the Titans have no leg to stand on here. He's far and away better than what's there.

Taamu has to get some kind of chance in an Half camp this summer. Right? RIGHT?!?!!

Silly me, so it is! Thought for sure I'd entered '2025' in my search. :knucklehead:
He's been with vikings Lions and chiefs I believe.
One he took seven snaps and he didn't take a team snap with. It comes up in interviews every now n then.
Sooo ridiculous.

His backup in the XFL, Heinicke, was a starter and I thought that would resonate. As Heinicke floundered, so did spring league QBs.

Do you know who his college receivers were?

There were videos of him working out Titans WRs during COVID and the next year and...never a Titan

The Nashville Kats are more popular than the UFL Memphis team.
This is a belief that doesn't seem true.
I'm watching and can only look and be like umm maybe. It's definitely not clearly an advantage of one team.
The Kats sold out the game! Turn on the game. The upper half is empty and scattered seats in the bottom half. That is (possibly probably) someone buying up the empties to be able to say it sold out.

What they do have is Jeff Fisher and one of the main sports radio station airing their games.

So again, idk that they're more popular but many think this.

I very much enjoyed an interview with Fisher the other day. I didn't care much about the Kats but once they talked of their matchup then they went into memories of old Titans games. He even reminisced a bit about the 85 Bears.

I think that gets people talking and where'd ya hear that? It was an arena league interview and...that's the root of the more popular claim too.

The UFL landed some great coaches and could definitely do this already. The non HOF caliber former coaches may be a detractor as they build. I don't know, kind of thinking out loud here.

The concept now is UFL team will move and Arena team is there to stay so..it's not nothing

Interesting. It was either the XFL or USFL, before the merger, that really leaned into “famous” former NFL coaches. I think name recognition (players or coaches) is a Very Good Thing for this league so I think they should keep pushing in that direction.

Top tackle Ryan Nelson met with the Chargers and is said to have spoken with many teams.

My Titans have had terrible tackles that allow a ton of sacks and pressures only to be picked up by other teams.

There is definitely room for him in the NFL.

The Defenders coach is leaving to be Tennessee State's OC.

He did one of the more impressive coaching jobs in any sport and no one noticed. He took over a team after the HC re-signed and led them to a title.

He must love Barlow to go and work for him

Every year! The XFL and UFL have fired much of their staff for the offseason. There is simply no work, no reason to have them, and it's clearly a seasonal job.

UFL reporters have balked at this every year- clearly missing the seasonal aspect.

Why don’t they just call the jobs seasonal and structure the contracts as such and then no one gets fired? Must be something else we’re missing.

I would guess it's because its their contacts.
PR team, marketing, ticket sales.
