I'll probably eat crow on it, but I don't understand satch having 1/2 of his roster in kickers and D.
Colston, Marques NOS WR (Q) - 9 Edwards, Braylon CLE WR - 5 Henry, Chris CIN WR - 10 Rice, Sidney MIN WR (Q) - 8 This will hurt. He may only score 2 this week. Three other weeks it will be 3 scoring in 3 spots.

I agree on Satch. Even though I hope his D run stops some other teams from scoring well at the position, I know he said he made it out of the round 1 but Best ball is way different than survivor.

He played Survivor first round. That makes more sense.

Dodds and Hicks will be starting the most players each week with 14 each with an early bye.
Not sure how big of an advantage this is in the end. I know that I have no more than 3 off for any given week. Well 22 to 19 make that big of a differnce in the end ?????

I'll probably eat crow on it, but I don't understand satch having 1/2 of his roster in kickers and D.
Speaking of crow....Eli would have been there in the 3rd and likely the 5th. Cutler lasted until 5.1.
He just went 4.10 in league 2
So I reached. I wanted the guy and I was at a bar picking instead of in front of my computer like the rest of you. I still think he's the #1 QB over the next 5 weeks. When did Romo go?

QB scoring was devalued in this league. By getting 2 guys with their byes behind them I was able to go only 2 deep here. Looked at some schmuchs later in the draft buy couldn't see them posting a score.

Bush, Michael OAK RB - 5

Taylor, Chester MIN RB - 8

Taylor, Fred JAC RB - 7

I had Gore as the second RB on my board behind Bush. Decided to sluff this position due to the RBBC in the league. Bush and Pittman will be solid early in this 5 week league. Don't think McFadden will be right this year. I should be able to cobble a second RB out of this mess.

Coles, Laveranues NYJ WR (P) - 5

Engram, Bobby SEA WR - 4

Gage, Justin TEN WR (Q) - 6

Johnson, Bryant SFO WR - 9

Marshall, Brandon DEN WR - 8

Washington, Nate PIT WR - 6

Marshall was #6 overall on my draft board. Coles and Engram both have their byes behind them and still undervalued.. Behind that is a bunch of pooh that I don't feel really great about, although Davis/Gage are possibly 1's on their team.

Gonzalez, Tony KCC TE - 6

Witten, Jason DAL TE (P) - 10

Hands down the best TEs in the league. I took Gonzo because he was better than any of the WRs left on the board at that time and can be used at the flex position. After suffering thru Heap in league one, I wanted to be stronger here. Witten was #17 overall on my board.

Bryant, Matt TBB PK - 10

Kasay, John CAR PK - 9

Prater, Matt DEN PK - 8

With the distance bonuses I like having three kickers to chose from. Prater's leg is an asset.

Eagles, Philadelphia PHI Def - 7

Saints, New Orleans NOS Def - 9

Really relying on the Eagles here and will be losing ground to most of the opposition. Wanted a 3rd def but Oakland and Atlanta were snaked from me late.

Only a round to 1.5 rounds early.

My team is OK. Lots of risk with Westbrook. Completely forgot about Curtis when I drafted Walter. I spread out Byes, but wasn't really concentrating on that too much here. Need my young TEs to do well.

Based on league 2's draft I got a ton of value in this draft.

Thoughts about my team here:

Cassel, Matt NEP QB - 4

Garrard, David JAC QB - 7

McNabb, Donovan PHI QB (P) - 7

Matt Cassel plays Denver in week 7 so I feel like this trio should work real well every week as long as he holds up his end of the deal that week. I think my trio should be among the highest scorers at the position.

Barber, Marion DAL RB - 10

Buckhalter, Correll PHI RB - 7

Faulk, Kevin NEP RB - 4

Jacobs, Brandon NYG RB - 4

James, Edgerrin ARI RB - 7

I am betting a lot that Barber and Jacobs don't get hurt here. I have decent coverage if everyone stays healthy.

Camarillo, Greg MIA WR - 4

Clayton, Mark BAL WR - 2

Gaffney, Jabar NEP WR - 4

Johnson, Calvin DET WR (P) - 4

Welker, Wes NEP WR - 4

Williams, Roy DET WR (P) - 4

Part of my strategy here was to try and target value WRs that have also had their bye week. By getting all of my WRs that have already had their byes, I have 6 people vying for the 3 WRs spots each week (as long as everyone stays healthy)

Davis, Vernon SFO TE - 9

Heap, Todd BAL TE - 2

Smith, L.J. PHI TE (P) - 7

Watson, Ben NEP TE - 4

This probably seems crazy to have 4 TEs, but I think it gurantees me excellent production at a discounted price. I am pretty sure I was the last to add a TE (Heap), but this unit may actually perform as one of the elite units (quantity over quality)

Gostkowski, Stephen NEP PK - 4

NE has a ton of easy games during this stretch. My plan predraft was to try and get both Cassel and Gostkowski. I considered a second PK, but actually felt Gostkowski should do well enough in all of the games to be ok.

Browns, Cleveland CLE Def - 5

Falcons, Atlanta ATL Def - 7

Ravens, Baltimore BAL Def - 2

I think getting 3 defenses is vital to maximizing your scoring each week. Anchored by Baltimore and then filled in with two scrubs.

Overall I fully expect this team to compete for one of the three spots.

I have 14 players that already had their bye. This is completely a shotgun approach where I just expect a few different players may emerge each week.

Might not matter, but Switz has no TE for Week 8 after only drafting Scheffler.
He's absolutely stacked at RB. Ryan/Kitna, Scheffler, and Lions/Chiefs, though. Three different positions that might be problematic = ungood.
Yeah, going on autodraft as early as I did definitely hurt. My parents game into town, and I knew I was going to be done drafting for myself around 8-8:15. However, I had expected to be through at least 4-5 more rounds. Some guy though took over 4 minutes per pick, and needed to be phoned each time his pick came up. It really killed the time for the draft :(My strategy was to end up with Orton and Ryan at QB, but Orton went earlier than my predraft for him. Unfortunately my autodrafts didn't draft at all as I requested which is why I ended up with only 1 TE.The TE and D position will hurt. Ryan is ok, but if Kitna stays hurt... I'm ouch.

QB: I feel I got one of the better pair in the league. Indy will pull it together and manning looks to be a steal at 4.4. I see alot of owners talk about jay Cutler as a steal in 5th of our draft but I dont see him any better than Rivers who I think was stolen in both drafts. With this combo, I was able to only draft 2. Considering QB was the top 10 ranked players, I want a good score here

RB: Looks like I reached on LT. In fact I have the all turf toe club. But LT has an easy schedule coming up and will get his points. He has the chance to really shine ala last year and make the 2nd half his own. Plus I like the SD duo for one of the highest scoring teams out there. Really felt this year that the bottom of the round had a huge advantage. Rest of my RB's are like Bmb and hope one of them steps up next week. If McFadden can get over the toe, he might be a steal.

WR: I really like the unit overall on paper but all still have bye weeks. My top 4 is outstanding but I will need one of Meachum, Stuckey or Hillard to step up each week and provide another guy. They each have so far so I could see each one having a nice day with TD each week between them. This will be the unit that helps me to the next round or makes me finish near the bottom in the end. Alot of risk/reward in this group

TE: Not specatcular but should get the job done. Really like Dallas moving forward. Miller and Lee provide excellent backups and could help in the flex if needed.

PK: One of the things I dont like about Dodds team is the 1 K. Always have those games where they only get TD's and feel you need 2. Not as big as scoring as D so why not going 3 especially when you need help at other positions. My unit like most is good

D: Our draft dynamics changed compared to other leagues thanks to Satch and his D run. I am very happy with my unit in the end. Pitt has been terrorizing QB's this year and will get me real nice points every couple of weeks. Raiders have a stellar D and I think Dallas will turn it around and start piling up the sacks and TO'a. This unit should be one of the best next to satch.

Overall. I will compete each week with great QB and D. Good PK and TE. The middle will determine how I do. If Lt gets it going like I think he will(but most dont) than I will go on here. If he does not than I will be middle of the road in the end because of bye weeks for my Big 4 WR and Boldin missing the 1st 2 weeks.

Too close to call who moves on here. I think a few squads leave alot to be desired and can be eliminated. After that it should be like my 1st league and a rat race to the end

Overall. I will compete with great QB and D, and good TE and PK.

DD, I think you got problems at WR...Calvin looked the first few weeks but has fallen off along with all of the Detroit passing game, Kitna is hurt...then you take his compadre Roy Williams, you went for Welker who is not even close to what he was last season, no Brady to throw to him, you even grabbed Cassel. Mark Clayton...again its a running theme where you have WR that have terrible Qbs...just my opinion.

Cutler, Jay DEN QB - 8

Roethlisberger, Ben PIT QB (P) - 6

I was looking at Eli, Peyton, and Favre because of the bye week bonus, but the Mannings went early and Cutler was too good to pass up. I don't like the fact that I'll have two weeks where I'll only have one QB going, but this is a strong duo and Cutler has been very steady this season.

Graham, Earnest TBB RB - 10

Green, Ahman HOU RB - 2

Jackson, Fred BUF RB - 6

Jackson, Steven STL RB - 5

Lynch, Marshawn BUF RB - 6

I like this group a lot. Going into the draft, I had Ronnie Brown, Steven Jackson, and Joseph Addai at the top of my board because they've already had their byes. I couldn't believe it when Jackson fell to 1.12. That was a gift. Lynch and Graham have been steady scorers this season and should combine with Jackson to give me at least two good scores each week. Green is a cheap depth play and F. Jackson is a depth/insurance pick.

Bryant, Antonio TBB WR - 10

Burress, Plaxico NYG WR - 4

Ginn Jr., Ted MIA WR - 4

Mason, Derrick BAL WR (P) - 2

Muhammad, Muhsin CAR WR - 9

Reed, Josh BUF WR - 6

Stallworth, Donte' CLE WR (P) - 5

Toomer, Amani NYG WR - 4

Burress is a high end NFL WR1 who has already had his bye. He should be a steady scorer and he has monster game potential. The rest of this group is a great example of my best ball WR strategy: load up on underrated starters who have a reasonable chance of catching 4-5 balls each week. Bryant, Ginn, Mason, Muhammad, Reed, Stallworth, and Toomer all fit that description. I focused on players who have already had their bye week, so I'll be fielding at least 7 WRs each week barring injuries. I think this group is definitely a plus if everyone stays healthy and maintains their current levels of production.

Fasano, Anthony MIA TE - 4

Scaife, Bo TEN TE - 6

Not bad. Fasano has been pretty good this season and he's already had his bye. Scaife is quietly having a very strong year as well. It might have been wise to add some additional depth here though. I was initially planning on drafting Alex Smith or Robert Royal in the 22nd round, but I switched to Fred Jackson at the last minute. That may have been a mistake. Still, this is certainly not a bad group if these two stay healthy and remain fairly productive.

Dawson, Phil CLE PK - 5

Stover, Matt BAL PK - 2

Two reliable veteran kickers with strong job security and no bye. This duo should be fine.

49ers, San Francisco SFO Def - 9

Colts, Indianapolis IND Def - 4

Rams, St. Louis STL Def - 5

A little weak, but having three of them will make up for the lack of quality. I expect the Colts to be better than they have been this season and I like the fact that the Rams have already had their bye. The Niners are a decent defense with big game potential.

Overall

I came in looking to build a deep, talented team with minimal risk. Like some of the other drafters, I tried to focus on bye weeks and put a premium on players who have already had their byes. I'm happy with the results. I'm a little bit worried about my lack of depth at QB and TE, but this team has a strong base at RB and WR. I think I'll be one of the contenders if everyone stays healthy and plays relatively close to current expectations.

I agree on Satch. Even though I hope his D run stops some other teams from scoring well at the position, I know he said he made it out of the round 1 but Best ball is way different than survivor.
He played Survivor first round. That makes more sense.
It was also a TD only league where Ks and DSTs ended up being some of the highest overall scorers.

My theory:

I've always had a theory that I wanted to try out and this draft gave me the chance. It seems to me that SOS is something that doesn't work all that well for a normal, beginning of the year draft. As much work as Clayton does, there are too many unknowns to really use it. In my observation, it doesn't work all that well in the beginning of the season, when teams are still gelling and many defenses look different than they did before the season. At the end of the season, it also doesn't seem to work as well because of either the playoff push for some teams, who play harder than their stats, or the teams that are drifting down the toilet in a lost season and play worse than their stats. But the middle of the season is where it seems to me that the SOS projections work the best. So I went into this draft trying to get players with the best SOS for the next 3-5 weeks. These include:

QB: NE, DAL, BUF, WAS

RB: TEN, WAS, NYJ

WR: WAS, DAL, BUF, NE, MIN, HOU

TE: NO, BUF, NE, KC, OAK, CHI

PK: GB, TEN, SEA, NE

DEF: WAS, TEN, NYJ

I'll go over my team in a post tomorrow, but it will be interesting to see how this theory works out.

I admit I wasn't familiar enough with the scoring system. I did over value Hightower and McClain. That being said, I still think I have a shot. My starting lineup will probably look like this:RomoLJHightowerMcClainB. EdwardsColstonRiceGatesVikingsKaedingBench:Marc BulgerKevin SmithChris HenryAkersGould LindellNugentBearsBillsChargersPackersPatsI left myself short at the skill positions, but that was done by design. My strategy is to not waste roster spots on guys who won't really contribute. I could've picked a guy like Bobby Engram instead of another defense, but why? Only your top 3-4 WR's will count, and I already have the best 3-4 WR's I could get. I could've picked up a couple more scrub WR's, but the difference between their contribution and the four WR's that I already have would be marginal at best. The same theory goes for RB and TE. I see that as a waste of roster space. Space that could be better used by drafting multiple defenses and kickers. We all know defenses and kickers are almost impossible to predict, yet they can have a major impact in FF. This is why I want as many as I can get. I have 6 defenses including some top notch D's. The odds of one of those defense blowing up each week, while not guaranteed, is pretty good. This week, I've got Viking's D against Detroit, with Kitna and CJ both out. I'm expecting big numbers from my D this week. I'm hoping for the same every week, and having 6 great defenses makes this fairly likely. The same goes for kickers. With 5 kickers, I'm bound to have one who has 4-5 field goals. In summary, my strategy is that my wealth of defenses and kickers will more than make up for what I lack at RB/WR. I may lose to you at RB & WR, but I plan on winning big at QB, TE, D, and K.

Totally untrue. That's the beauty of best ball... and WRs are so erratic, that your 5 and 6 WR one week may actually be your top 2.Maybe for RBs, that's a good strategy... but loading up on WRs in this league is what gets you the gold.

156 is a good score especially during a bye week (basically done for the week), but Dodds has half his team left to go and will likely catch me.

I have a chance with Moss and Sproles to catch Baker with Anderson, but I'm not catching Dodds for 5th. And I have to hope no one catches me from behind. Middle of the pack finish for a middle of the pack team.

Wasted roster spots??? I think not.

Satch still has Edwards, but will be eating at least one donut to join a 1.2 and 2.3. His best scoring defense posted 11 points. the others...7, 7, 2, 2, and 0.

Not a good week for me, but I still have Burress, Toomer, Stallworth, and Dawson with lots of room for improvement at those spots. I'm just hoping to break even. I should be stronger next week with Roethlisberger, Lynch, and Scaife off bye.
