Under sink water filtration system (1 Viewer)

Who's got one of these and how do you like it? Did you install it yourself? Is it RO, ultrafiltration, other? How do you know when to change the cartridges? How old were you when you lost your virginity? How would you compare the taste of your filtered water to bottled water?

You don't have to say when you lost your virginity if you don't want to.
I use a similar system here in Peru. When the water starts tasting like mud you should have changed the filter last month.

I drink bottled water. I cook with the filtered water

Amazon. Ispring 6 or 7 stage filtration system. Excellent system with decently priced replacement filters.

Tastes better than bottled water which isn't saying much as most bottled water is crap with the exception of fiji water. Fiji weather is the only water that is alkali vs acidic. You want alkali.

I change my filters when my TDS meter elevates. This is an inexpensive  tester you can buy on Amazon that reads the total dissolved solids in your water.  the lower the better is the general rule though there is debate over whether drinking  deionized water is good for you or not.

I got the iSpring system because it adds back the trace minerals that are filtered out in the first few stages  you need those minerals.

my whole family loves the water.  When I have regular tap water I can taste the chlorine in it.  It's very strong and gross.  If you're really serious of removing chlorine from your system and body then it is a must that you install a filter on your shower head.  The average person absorbs more chlorine though inhaling water vapor in the shower than they could drink in a day.

I know my water.

Right now we're using a service and they suck. Almost every month they either don't show up or don't deliver the right number of bottles. How hard could it be to get that right? ####### idiots. Plus it's not exactly cheap, it's a pain the ### to deal with storing all the bottles & empties in the garage, lugging them into the house, then having the huge machine in our kitchen, etc.

I bought this ultrafiltration system. I went with it over RO because RO actually wastes some water in the process of making clean water, and the better systems have up to 7 cartridges to replace. Ultrafiltration isn't quite as good as RO but it's good enough imo.

I bought a TDS meter. Our tap water reads 51 (pretty good for tap water), and our bottled water reads 20. I'll post an update when I get around to installing my system since I can tell you guys are riveted.

inknow my water.
I came really close to buying that iSpring system with the mineral replacement cartridge. I don't like the fact that RO wastes water though. I'm hoping my UF system is sufficient. It doesn't remove minerals from the water, which is nice.

I'm not worried about chlorine, more lead and other random unknown crap. I read our local water report and a lot of the values were suspiciously right on the nose for the maximum allowable by the EPA, not one tick more or less. Seems like bs to me. Plus they test pretty infrequently.

Yeah, I bought one if those ones from Amazin with a separate spout you put in the corner of the sink.  It was cool, but my new fridge is better because it chills and filters the water so I never use that one anymore.

We have a water conditioner out back and love it. Water tastes great. Small amount of maintenance but it's worth it.

Was advised long ago by somebody in the industry to always go with RO. But tbh I feel like it has a metallic taste to it. I've been specing a couple lately- I'll let you know what they are when I get to the office. Different, but fwiw, I always use Insinkerator for under counter hot water.

Can you run the ispring to the fridge after it filters?
