Upgrade or downgrade Randy Moss? (1 Viewer)

Do you upgrade, downgrade, or "no change" to Randy Moss now that he is a Viking?

This has to be an upgrade for the 2010 season. He wasn't getting any targets and NE actually used him as a decoy the other night. That won't happen in Minnesota and even if he doesn't do much against the Jets on MNF, he has lots of other good match ups ahead and they will put him in position to catch at least 2-3 if not more long balls each and every game. I would expect a few 4/120/TD type games coming very soon. He doesn't need to know the playbook when Favre says run a fly and I'll hit you deep or a deep post pattern or the skinny post when they get in scoring range.

It's an upgrade for 2010. But going from Brady to Favre is not an upgrade especially in dynasty.

Look at the schedule

@NYJ...probably nothing too major here

Dallas...He can cause some damage

@GB...they have a better pass rush than defenders against him

@NE...revenge game for him

Then it starts to ease up IMO

AZ

@Chi

GB

@Wash

Then down the stretch

BUFF

NYG

CHI...3 games at home in the dome in a row

@Phi

@Det

He should be back to a weekly top10 status very soon.

I'd say upgrade: Favre will sling it to him wether or not he's open, forcing him to make the catch. It may result in more picks for Brett but certainly more targets for Randy. I doubt the vikes have traded for him to use him as a decoy... anda decoy for whom ? Berrian?Plus his attitude is bound to improve.and he gets to play in a dome again, which in the winter should help the passing game.

Agree

i voted no change only because i really dont know. first of all, randy moss has never played with a run heavy offense like the vikings. i dont care about your new toys. a.d is your bread and butter. hopefully childress doesnt go away from that. also brett favre does not look as good as last year. having moss may or may not fix that.

Upgrade, for a couple of reasons.

1. Moss motivation: I don't think he's lost it. I still think he's an elite receiver and when motivated, will dominate. Think Manny Ramirez upon leaving the RedSox.

2. Favre trust: Favre has no real trust for any receivers beyond Shiancoe. When he was taken away in week 1, MIN struggled to move the ball in the air. Moss is a QBs best friend, and will be Favre's 1st read ( maybe only read, Favre is a bit hard-headed sometimes ) most plays.

3. Pick your poison: MIN has a top flight run game. If they pay too much attention to Moss, Peterson runs all day. If you bring up a saftey in the box, Moss can hit you quick for a big play. He'll be on the end of a few shots down the field to make sure the opposition recognizes this fact.

I think it's not a change from what he was projected to do in the preseason.

But I do think it's an upgrade from what had become a "new orleans" type situation where they were spreading the ball out so thin that it was going to be hard to dominate.

Moss will go from being a declining part of the Patriots passing game to becoming the focal point of a Farve run passing game. That means lots of downfield chucks. My concern would be how does Favre adjust - does he start getting careless by throwing to Randy and hoping for the best? And lets keep in mind that while Moss is still very productive, he does not seem to have that leaping ability, nor does he get as much separation as he used to.

However, Randy isnt hurt fantasy wise by Farve chucking with reckless abandon, in fact he is helped by it. The Vikings may see some really good, some potentially really bad. And at the end of the day, you dont want Favre in a big spot just chucking it (well, unless your the opposition, especially in a key playoff game and an INT ends the Vikes' chances)

:thumbup: I think most of us expected more deep shots to Moss from Brady this year. I don't think there's any doubt that Favre will launch it to him with more regularity.

Just heaving it up in the air and letting Moss go get it is often a very good plan. (See Culpepper)

Moss is more valuable in leagues that reward a bonus for 40+ yard TD catches. He is going to hook up on a few ones from Favre where he wasn't going to with Brady.
